Thanks a lot for the video Rajvir. I am little confused, is the main idea for OPC-UA is data collection or is also for real time control. e.g. controlling a motor , synchronization between industrial controllers, turning on/off actuators, etc ? I mean is it a replacement to existing protocols as Ethernet/IP, Modbus,etc ?
Yes you can control motor, actuators etc
OPC-UA is not the fastest way of communication. But it can collect the data, control the output, read the inputs securely. If you want high speed control then PROFINET is better :)

No you cannot send CSV fike via OPC UA but I advice you to store data in database then I'm CSV.
Unti I saw this video I thought the OPC UA Server can be the main element of an OPC UA network, but this shows, that the Client can be the central and communicate with several servers in this case. For example a Computer (client) can communicate with several PLCs (servers) and gather production data from them, right?
Yes you are right. An OPC UA Client can take data from multiple servers.

OPC UA Server is installed in some PLC like Siemens S7-1200. Not all PLC has this Server.

Let's say, I have a communication failure (over remote like cellular, VDSL etc.) with OPC server like 4 hour or so. Will the OPC-UA return lost values with their timestamps to the OPC-UA Client when communication back up? Or is there a communication protocol can do that?
Good question! Normally OPC UA sever like in Siemens PLC has no such option to back up the values automatically. You have to store the data in the database to retrieve it later. But OPC UA sever might have this back up function built-in but I am not sure which one.
@@thegeterrdone I have been told that IEC-104 protocol is able to do that. But I don't know about the limits. I never had a chance to test it.

It depends on the server .. ranging from 200 - 20000 or more :)
So basically it is for data acquisition only and cannot actually control the equipment/devices?
It can also control the equipment if you write the values to the OPC UA tags

@@genantamtam9364 correct, they’ve got opc servers integrated. But please check that further for the s7-1200, as it doen’t have the same specs as s7-1500

Lets say the PLC is OPC UA sending data over to a system OPC DA Client, are there any additional requirement such a tunneller or something like that. Sorry of my question is not structured properly.
No additional requirement, the client needs opc ua endpoint and login details if connection is secure.

I Am working on a project where the OPC UA Server (Phoenix contact AXC 1050 PLC) is connected to a Sierra RV50 router with a M2M Sim-Card (Router 1).
The OPC UA Client is a laptop with TIA Portal WinCC professional on a office-network (Router 2).
So I know that I Should put the IP "opc.tcp://name:Port" of the PLC (OPC UA Server) in the "OPC UA Discovery URL" in TIA Portal Scada (OPC UA Client.)
But this won't work because the PLC is on another network.
I found something that it should be possible to connect the 2 networks with a VPN-Tunnel.
But now my question is,
*Is it possible to send and receive data over a VPN Tunnel using OPC UA?*
