This was a REAL Christmas Day game with one of the greatest rivalries (do rivalries exist in the NBA anymore?) Marv, Knicks-Bulls, Jordan, Ewing, Pippen, Starks...it got literally no better than this
Oh man it was epic shit! We only got two channels. CBS and nbc . Those nbc games were fuckin what I lived for . When I heard the nba on nbc theme music I’d start dunking on my nerf hoop
As a knicks fan i have no problems saying i would sell my soul at this moment to relive those knicks/bulls games. I dont think people can understand how truely intense they were..and even though my knicks never won, this WAS basketball.. Men's basketball. No easy layups, no handchecking rules... Just tough, physical play.
1:31 - 1:48 That 37 point loss by the Bulls statistically would be considered the WORST loss in all 6 championship regular season games combined. Check it if you don't believe me.
Even being on the losing end of the rivalry i miss those knicks bulls series. I look back now and those memories never fade. That was when basketball was more important than anyone else.
This clip is now 15 years old (can't believe that), and some of my VHS tapes have degraded over time. At least now that I'm converting to digital format there'll be no more degradation even if I watch it 403 times.
I think that having the X-man in '94 would have helped us against Houston. However, letting Starks not take as many threes, and letting Rolando Blackman play could have helped the Knicks win the 1994 NBA Championship as well.
nice vid. i had this vhs but lost it when i moved. this was a great game actually. the bulls made a great comeback after halftime. freshwess, holla at me if you want to trade vintage bulls games or something...
The phantom foul against Pippen, putting Hubert Davis at the line for 3 ft's to win the game was ridiculous. Even JVG a couple months ago agreed that his Knicks got lucky.
No, no, I meant the game that ramonjrp was taking about. The 1997 game between the Rockets and the Bulls. MJ said during the interview after the Knicks game that he was upset about that loss. I wanted to know if that game preceded the Con Game.
Letting the X-Man go was one of the biggest mistakes we ever made. I really think we would've beaten Houston in '94 if we had kept him. Man, the NBA needs a rivalry like this again in the worst way!
Freaking amazing things happened in the 90's that I miss. By the way,can you tell me what game was the game that you couldn't upload (game , 2 or 3, or...)? Because I really want to see it and search it on youtube perhaps...thank you!
In 1992, although we got swept in the regular season, by The Bulls, we played them very tough, and took them to 7 games in the ECSF. They should've NEVER let Xavier McDaniel walk. I thought 1993 was our year to finally get past them. much like The Bulls did The Pistons in 1991. I swear had they kept X in 1993 we would've beaten The Bulls. Anyone know where I can find the game, from March of 1992 when Starks lights The Bulls up for eight 3's? I search for it all the time and can never find it.
i haven't seen this video in a long time, thanks for uploading, man one thing, though: you might want to improve the quality of this video if you can, because it doesn't sound like it did the first time I saw it.
You know, it was Jeff Van Gundy's remark about MJ's friendship with others that made the latter angry before a 1997 game: JVG, in some pregame comments before a Knicks-Bulls game in Chicago, said that MJ was using his friendship with the Knicks to con them out of winning games. Combine that with his simmering rage about his alleged gambling, and you have a 50-point, all-out effort against the Knicks. Chicago won that game, and MJ screamed something at JVG toward the end.
but nynick007 we did have the consolation of beating them the remaining 3 games of the regular season although ultimately we lost to them in the conference finals
this is when the nba was awesome not some glorified video game version of basketball with no physical play. Jordan is still the king LeBron and curry cant sniff his shit
I was about 6 and remember getting a new Super NES with Super Mario World, a Link to the Past while my brother got Street Fighter 2, and some racing game I can't remember if it was F Zero or something else
hey, man, I would never knock it. Fresh is good with those videos, but I just happened to see this video on youtube a few months ago. I just noticed it sounded different.
I love when people say that Phil Jackson is a great coach... I mean look at the sorry excuses for teams he took to the title... Terrible players like MJ, pippen, Shaq, Kobe, and all the others did absolutely nothing to win... It was all Phil jackson
Let me just add that, while MJ and Oakley were great friends, everyone in Chicago during the 1990s viewed him as a demon. Watch Game 3 of the 1996 playoff series between New York and Chicago. See if he goes soft on MJ and everyone else. In fact, see if any of the Knicks use no physical play AT ALL on the Bulls. In their playoff meetings between 1992 and 1996, the Knicks were intent on slaying the Bulls (no pun intended), but MJ, as always, was MJ. People liking the Knicks, my big foot...
That knicks team, from a defensive standpoint, would absolutely terrorize these teams today. And with a dominant big man like Ewing, who could also stretch the defense, they'd probably be the champions. Charles Barkley was right..the only reason they made all those "defensive rule chages" in the NBA, was to make the game easier for a generation of watered down offensive players..Zones in the NBA, what a joke..
Sure, MJ is good friends with Patrick and Charles, but THAT MEANS *NOTHING* ON THE BASKETBALL COURT. You know how much MJ hates hearing about cheating and gambling and all that other crap. The Knicks just HAD to add some extra drama to every game they played. Plus, MJ admitted that he wanted to punch his "friends" when they played against him, because of their "defense" (they mangled the JR's JUST a bit). At least Detroit, by my knowledge, kept the media out of it during their playoff meetings.
People hated Detroit because Detroit NEVER kissed anybody's behind and they continued to beat the so-called "good guys" of the NBA: Magic, Bird, and Jordan. People liked the Knicks because they weren't a threat to Jordan's empire and Ewing and Jordan were great friends; Oakley and Jordan were great friends. Remember, New York is a greater market than Detroit. Had those same Pistons played in NYC the NBA would've loved them because of the $. It's all about politics and cash. The Knicks copied Det
The NBA on CBS was better. Of course during those days (the 80s) there were better teams than there were in the 90s with the Bulls and the NBC coverage. But of course everyone agrees that the ABC coverage now simply sucks.
The Knicks sucked. All they did was copy Detriot's style but couldn't win because they had terrible offensive players with no intelligence about anything they were doing. You have to be smart, not just play with raw cow hide.
I'm just telling you the truth. Everybody knwos it and the facts prove me right. New York was NEVER a legit contender to face Chicago; I mean it took the refs cheating in '94 for the Knicks to win without Jordan--even that took 7 games!! HAHAHA!!! The Knicks played poor offense and they never won because instead of having their own identity, they tried to copy Detroit and you can't win rings trying to act like somebody else. Sad, it's really sad. Lakers, Celtics, Pistons, Bulls, all dif. styles.
And fuck the bulls... They got so many Jordan fouls and special treatment so that the NBA could market Jordan and make their money.... Jordan is the greatest, but the knicks should've won at least 2 titles in the Jordan years, but they didn't because of the Jordan Rules( read the book)
thank you Marv Albert...for making basketball worth watching
I was born in such a great generation. Michael Jordan, Mike Tyson, Michael Jackson. Life was good then.
Same here
@@Storm27ification the 90s was the best time to be a kid
I was born in the 90s and I will be 32 next month
Born in 1981! It was awesome! Don’t forget Barry Sanders, George Foreman’s Comeback over Michael Moorer! The 90s were the best!
This was a REAL Christmas Day game with one of the greatest rivalries (do rivalries exist in the NBA anymore?)
Marv, Knicks-Bulls, Jordan, Ewing, Pippen, Starks...it got literally no better than this
Boston vs LA
Memphis vs GSW
Dallas vs Suns
Nope cause everyone wants to be friends instead of wanting to kick your opponents butt
If any of you are like me, this WAS your Christmas present!!!! And you were happy as hell with it!
Oh man it was epic shit! We only got two channels. CBS and nbc . Those nbc games were fuckin what I lived for . When I heard the nba on nbc theme music I’d start dunking on my nerf hoop
NBC are expecting to try to get the NBA back and we are all on board with it
As a knicks fan i have no problems saying i would sell my soul at this moment to relive those knicks/bulls games. I dont think people can understand how truely intense they were..and even though my knicks never won, this WAS basketball.. Men's basketball. No easy layups, no handchecking rules... bring back the NBA to NBC... please... i miss these times.. even when the Knicks lost.
Epic intro... epic music... fantastic coverage... priceless memories! There is simply nothing that compares to this today! Pure beauty frozen in time!
Goosebumps. Miss these days
1:31 - 1:48 That 37 point loss by the Bulls statistically would be considered the WORST loss in all 6 championship regular season games combined. Check it if you don't believe me.
Miss this era, Bulls vs. Knicks was all out war. The golden era of the NBA.
Nba will come back to nbc in the future
Bring the golden days back to the NBA
@@dreamcage1801 Hopefully so.
Back then, the NBA was a real man's game.
2:12 gives me a chill when i hear it.. those days were like a dream man, i wouldn't leave the room..even watch commercials
Back in the 90's I could watch any 2 NBA teams play. Nowadays, if it ain't my home team playing, I wont watch.
Big facts. I used to watch all the double and triple headers
Chills down my spine during the first seconds of this video. Long Live NBA on NBC.
Man!!!!!! I miss these days
I miss the NBA. Back then, it was good but now it sucks. Great video, it brings back good memories of basketball to me.
"This is the NBA on NBC". Pure classic
Even being on the losing end of the rivalry i miss those knicks bulls series. I look back now and those memories never fade. That was when basketball was more important than anyone else.
This was three years before the Chicago Stadium was demolished and replaced with the United Center.
it is me, or NBC knows how to promote the NBA better than anyone else!
best music to get you pumped to watch a basketball game
Man, I was jus' 2 years old when this game was played.
Bulls vs Blazers, yeah. that was my first SNES game ever. classic. hehehe.

It's hard to believe MJ is only 29 years old here, but is already considered Godly.
marv was and is the best nba announcer in history

Yes NBC was epic but honestly they were a bit too biased to the bulls for my tastes

@peepinR you're right... their coverage was second to none.

scottie pippen had his little fade goin on. back in the day.

Classic stuff.

so true. i dont think anybody can argue this statement.
I'm not sure that NBC did the extended intro. after '96.
No, they didn't. But they still had the short NBA on NBC intro, which they used since 1991 until 2000.
of course this was ages before that. van gundy coached in 96...this was 92.
Rivalry wise from 1980s - 2000 76ers vs Celtics then Celtics vs Pistons then Pistons vs Bulls then Bulls vs Knicks then Knicks vs Heat & Pacers

if this gonna happen with the knicks and the heat im be mad -.- but love the knicks respect mj
