  • In "The Great Sin of Doing Nothing," Charles Haddon Spurgeon emphasizes the grave sin of inaction among God's people. Preaching from Numbers 32:23, where the tribes of Reuben and Gad request to settle rather than help their brethren fight for the Promised Land, Spurgeon condemns idleness and urges Christians to actively engage in God's work. He highlights that failing to serve the Lord is a sin against God and discourages others, leading to spiritual decay and eventual punishment.
This sermon was delivered on August 5, 1886 at the Metropolitan Tabernacle and was originally published in Volume 32 of the Metropolitan Tabernacle Pulpit.

That's the place you want to be ❤️ I had a terrible childhood, and one day I was tired of the pain, so decided to harden my heart so it wouldn't hurt anymore. God warned me that was wrong, and yet again I was disappointed. He wanted my heart soft, without which I wouldn't be able to hear Him. You have a good soft heart.
It's also important to know that we are fallible, and this is where we rely on God's strength and love by faith. We can't do this on our own, and that's why He gave us the Holy Spirit. Repent of the things that you know you did wrong to the best you understand. Ask Him for help to change. Everyday! Even every time you sin. Even if you fall over and over, keep repenting and asking for help. Believe it or not, He delights in helping us 🫂❤️

@@jakeschwartz2514 this is actually not nonsense since it is Biblical.. God does spoke about the 7 churches or lampstands and only 2 were acceptable in God's sight.. these were all believers, who were born again and received the Holy Spirit but still fail to meet God's expectations. I am afraid many churches in all part of the world are doing the same mistake, leaving their first love in Christ. We could be unaware about it or ignorant because many preachers are preaching outside the Bible, not teaching the truth about repentance and sin.

The US has been absolutely saturated and glutted with the gospel like no other nation in all of history. You won't find anyone except an infant in a cradle who hasn't heard the gospel fifty times. What remains is for believers to OBEY the gospel, that is, not to love the world or the things of the world, but to love one another as Jesus loves them as a true and abiding witness to the world.

The body of Christ can always love better, yes , but obedience to proclaiming the Gospel is what we need . I have been preaching in the streets , on college campuses , and door to door , Monday - Saturday , for over 15 years now , and I am still shocked at how many have not heard the Gospel. 🙏🏼 So Caleb , are you loving your neighbor; and telling them about Jesus ? I hope so . Psalm:145:19 Sincerely a neighbor.

Doing nothing depends on what is at hand. If you are home, resting and just lying in the quiet, you are doing something. Walking quietly outside, not considered a productive state, you are doing something. If you decline to assist when there is need, I believe this is a sin. Sometimes, your help is the catalyst to the next awakening. Give your brother a dollar or drink, your family your best, your community your time, your country your loyalty.

Those who will listen, I repeat what You taught me NOT to Fall in Love With the World or you will become My Enemy ! And, that the TRADITIONS of men make Void the Word of God !
