    You're awesome dude. Well explained and really, really useful having the physical items to see. A lot of the studying I'm doing comes from books which makes it impossible for me to understand because I can't visualise it. Seeing the actual components really makes it easier!

    Hi John we are after some advice we want to buy a secondhand MacBook or iMac and we are after some advice on which one would be the best one to buy for editing and also the fact that we would like to be able to upgrade the hard drive and ram on it in the future and I just wanna know which one would be a good to purchase. We have heard around 2012 to 2013 Apple did something with IMAC and MacBook that you can’t update them or something but if you can let us know your steer on this that would be absolutely fantastic thank you ever so much for making this video it’s really good and informative.

    so what happens to Ram memory cards when you put in an SSD

    • @GadgetJohn
      @GadgetJohn  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      SSD replaces the hard disk, so it’s storage which is different from memory which is ram.

  • @surgeon-o3141

    did i understand it wrong or is it true that the RAM and the SSD run in the same speed (fast) ? do i have a ram to run my pc ?

    • @GadgetJohn
      @GadgetJohn  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Speed of RAM and drives are not the same, each will depend on the physical parts and what you by.

    • @surgeon-o3141
      @surgeon-o3141 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      oh then the RAM is way faster than anything and i need a SSD or a HDD to stored the data that i wanted after i use it like when i play a game when a save go it will be stored in my SSD or HDD , thank you so much i learn alot of this video and i'm ready to build my pc :) ty

    • @vinhedos
      @vinhedos 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      There's also the CPU memory, which is much faster than RAM.

    Hi Sir: thank you for the video.
    I have a question: I have iMac with HHD, and I want to replace for a SSD .... I have different software that I download from 3rd party website. (so its no original)
    saving all my data to external HD (time machine or back up) this will copy everything to the new SSD later and I can still use all the programs I have???

    • @GadgetJohn
      @GadgetJohn  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Colobrinus With a side of cube Yes you still need ram to boot up and for your o/s and software to work.

    Thx, John. You replaced your 1TB HD on a Mac Pro with 1 TB SSD Drive? I thought storage wasn't upgradable on a Mac Pro. Hmmm ... Now I'm confused, trying to buy a Mac Pro. Everything else very clear, thanks!

      That’s irrelevant, it has nothing to do with a specific operating system.
