I purchased my Legion go and have it since launch, and for me Legion is the upgrade coming from a LCD deck, bigger display with accurate colors as it's a juggernaut of power when running those triple A titles. as I been playing Robocop, Need for speed Hot pursuit remastered and PS5 remote play, Spiderman 2, Legion has been a very solid device. awesome review 👍

    • @Daxter609
      @Daxter609 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

@@misterpacha1 The deck runs fine without VRR because you can change the refresh rate to almost any number between 30hz-60/90hz which will cap your frame rate to that. Very useful if the game the Deck is playing can't maintain a high framerate so you cap it at a lower one that is still better than 30fps.
The Legion Go runs fine without a VRR screen. You can cap the FPS in game or with an external program like AMD Adrenaline if you can't keep a stable 60fps or maintain a framerate higher than 60fps. If you can cap the framerate to a perfect integer of 60hz or 144hz it will be very smooth.

I originally had an OLED Steam Deck, but decided to send it back due to a few issues with it not doing the things I wanted it to do.

      I feel pretty similar
I ordered the Steam Deck OLED but already asked the delivering service to sent it back cause all the research I made led me to think it’s just not the best for what I want
I’m a console player, never played on PC so far and I want to switch handheld while still playing my favorite games which is the latest COD, Gos of War, Red Dead Redemption and such, so basically all windows games😅
Now I’m just having a hard time deciding if I should go with the Ally or the Go
The screen and look of the Go are really what I like but the current performance and software is supposed to be more polished and userfriendly on the Ally from what I head

@@nils0603 It's probably down to personal preference, they both use Windows, just different overlays.

Really awesome Review man, detailed but not boring and also fun to watch + I love the part at the end where you gave advice for different people
    Somehow I’m still overthinking tho🤦‍♂️😅
I never played anything on PC and I want a handheld to play COD at home
So I’m not bothered too much about batter or portability
The Steam deck is a no go because if windows 11 and me not even playing most games it does easily
So it’s really the Ally or the Go and this is where I’m having a hard time
From the look and screen size I would immediately say the Go it is
But from a lot of reviews I saw that the Ally is supposingly the more polished and user friendly device which probably is smarter for someone like me who has no clue about setting up devices and so on
An advice is appreciated and keep up the great content 👊🏻

Okay, I had to sub to your channel. You legit made me crack up a few times, well done!
Been saving my pennies to get a "better" Switch that can run (mainly) anything in my Steam library and a few one-off's from other launchers (Mainly Epic Games and Star Citizen). A real thing for me is battery life as sometimes I just can't be near power, so it's an important thing. However the one thing that keeps me from just going OLED Steamdeck is support. I like that I can just take an Ally or Legion to my local Best Buy to get fixed/replaced if something goes terribly wrong.
    Choices, choices!

Thank you, glad you had a few laughs! :)
While I can't 100% guarantee that nothing will go wrong, the Steam Deck and Valve seem to be pretty reliable so far. I would look a lot closer at the games you wanna play and see if they run well on the Deck. Otherwise, I'd likely recommend the Legion and a battery bank if you can justify the purchase. Happy gaming, and see you around!

Ouch, please do yourself a favor and read all these comments in here, everyone who actually has them all all pick the Lgo first, ally 2nd, and SD lastly. ONLY the deck owners who've only handled a steam deck say the deck is best... But they're poor, and only have a steam deck to test out. Literally, OR they are biased and improperly saying it can do things it CANNOT. They say this versatile, they say the customization, they say it can be an office on the go but the versatile they're saying is the joysticks swappable, and the skins and stickers they can put in it is so -called versatile..... Like what? And the SD apps like decky loader and all are straight just assebility options, not true options of magnitudes of playing or power... The OLED is also making many people sick and eyes are blurry for 10 mins to an hour later until valve makes changes google deck OLED issues to find pages of citations opened against them. Also steam OS is trash can't local thumb drives, or mount anything except microSD, can't recognize printers or anything of such, it merely can load older games, even the word pad on it is trash and emulation setup takes week plus to load up all the consoles it's straight bad to have to learn to navigate it. I repeat, steam OS is straight jank to use for anything other than running older games. They even ran a huge sale to clear out inventory before telling everyone that the following month OLED is dropping and all these poor kids are now stuck with wanting the more powerful refreshed OLED but spent their years raincheck of chores money and moms good graces on a jank old bad battery crap. Can't make this up but they don't see it and don't see valve did them dirty.

Thanks for amazing comparison! I'm casual gamer, i used to have a gaming laptop and Xbox but i'm using an ultrabook for 2 years and i don't have any device to play. I'm looking to portable device to play most of time like FIFA-NBA or games that are fun to play handheld, probably at low power consumption on the go. I'm not hardcore PC gamer and also i'm not FPS gamer. I really like Rog Ally ergonomics. SD OLED's display and battery life are also amazing and sounds more important than performance to me. But at the same time as i said i'm casual gamer, I really loved using the Gamepass library so compatibility is important too. In my country costs SD OLED 570€, Ally 650€, Legion GO 800€.
    In my opinion:
If it had good compatibility like the others, i definitely go for SD OLED.
If it had at least better battery life than Legion Go, i definitely go for Ally
If it were more portable and better ergonomics, i definitely go for Legion Go.
So based on these I couldn't decide what to get :( Which of these constraints is more tolerable? I think maybe I can solve Ally's battery life by using it connected to power at home and using a power bank on the go, but it still has a bad battery life. Sometimes the Legion Go's size feels like it might get used to it. But sometimes I want to buy SD OLED for the reasons you wrote in the who is each the for SD OLED section.
I hope you can give me some suggestion :)

Hey there! I personally used the ROG Ally for the first 4 months with a battery bank before deciding that the Legion was my next go-to. That being said, while I would normally recommend the Steam Deck for most people, if you want that game pass library I think the Ally is your best bet, with a sizeable charger. Especially if you're a casual gamer and will only play for like an hour or two at a time. Hope this helps and happy gaming!

My question is, how do games look running at like 540p upscaled upnto native res for better fps on steam deck vs ally vs go.
I've had a steam deck and running games down to 540p and using FSR with sharpening made games like RE4 remake run pretty nice (locked 40) and it honestly looked ok (yes I know the game has FSR2 built in which works better but I was experimenting. Also the game can run fine native res low settings for 40fps locked too)

Love my legion Go! It is hands down the king from a hardware standpoint. The Ally started with a lead on software updates and smooth software functionality not the case today. Also got my Legion Go 2TB storage from Microcenter on sale for $699.99 on Black Friday. you can’t beat that deal! The only reason to pick any other device is the OLED deck for longer battery. The Ally had a very short time as the best windows device and that time has past. The Go is #1 for how long who knows but it is more than enough to satisfy me for the next 3 to 5 years. About the same time as a console life cycle (slightly shorter) only I don’t loose my games when I get a new windows gaming handheld. PC gaming for the win.

Lenovo! The other ones dont have detachable controllers which ruins the portability id you’re wanting to play in bed

Imo, what is the point of performance if it comes at the cost of basically what a handheld is made for; portability. Just get a laptop at that point. The Steam Deck OLED is the perfect combination of compromises, that ensure longer play sessions and offers a better software experience (it is so seamless and not at all janky)

You might as well get a switch if you want portability, these handhelds are massive.

@@oo--7714 I was thinking in terms of battery and I do find the Steam Deck OLED very portable

@@oo--7714 game library is very limited on the switch. You can’t play big games like god of war on it

@oo--7714 SD performs better, got better battery life in most cases, you can get games way much more cheaper, much bigger game library and you can do emulation as well. You can't compare Switch to any of this handhelds no matter what you say because switch is trash when it comes to sd, ally or go. Switch is for Nintendo die hards or little kids only. And if you have 6 year old hand size than yes go with switch. I never had a problem with SD portability, just throw it in your backpack and that's it

Oh yeah as clarification on emulation. A few watts wouldn't help the deck perform better as the high end emulators are CPU bound and the Deck just doesn't have the CPU power to keep up. More wattage wouldn't change that. It is comparing an 8 core CPU vs a 4 core CPU
