I had the same problem. I sewed 6 rows together to make it smaller. There's a TH-cam video for it.
Yea sometimes I feel like the sizing could be better. A lot of mine feel big too. I think the adjustable straps should be better.
Adding a strap in the back helps me a lot. I have a small head too. wig caps barely fit so I use a wig grip with no wig cap
