With a defense like that, he's doing everything you need at the position.

    Purdy has top tier awareness and football IQ, very quick acceleration but limited top speed, good juking, a passable qb arm but his short arms allow him to fire the football quickly. I hear people say Purdy will only be effective until coaches get tape on him, then they'll learn how to defend him. I don't agree with this because he is a quarterback, not a gimmick. If someone comes into the league and does something completely new, they can be good for a while but eventually they will get figured out. But what I think makes Brock so good (so far) is his decision-making, quick release, and accuracy. These aren't really things a defense can "figure out" and take away.
    Also, it's fun to watch him on TV because when he throws the ball downfield and the receiver is off camera, most likely he's going to put the ball where it needs to be. Something that's been sorely lacking in 49ers quarterbacks for years!

    Note to OL RT, RG. Your team is ahead by 20, the DE (Watt) has your number, when you know he got the step on you, grab him, hold him, trip him, karate sweep him, whatever it takes to get him down and not lay a finger on your QB. So what if you get negative yardage, at least your QB is up right and can the play the next game.

    On the sack fumble he had Deebo wide open to the side he was looking at. He hesitated.
    But that RT spot is going to be an eyesore all season. McGlinchey wasn’t very good, but the grass isn’t always greener.
    I’m worried that after the first two sacks, Shanahan still let McKivitz try and block Watt 1-1. It’s the same thing that happened against the eagles. No blocking adjustment and we got Purdy’s elbow torn.

    1:45 is was a good decision and a great throw. The ball dropped right into his hands. With Peterson extremely close.
    6:35 Correct. Purdy used eye manipulation to freeze the safety inside and keep BA single covered on the outside. (Purdy had great footwork.)
    BA is now running incredibly crisp routes. Some of the best I've ever seen.
    8:30 The combo block was Williams and Kittle on the edge defender. Kittle does a lot of combo blocks, like a lineman would.
    10:15 McKivitz simply got badly beaten, three times. That's a lot more on the tackle than the QB.

    If you didn't have a chance to watch Purdy last season, it's understandable, but to watch him play and still discredit him is just hating. How he played against Pittsburgh was how he played last season. I would even say he's improved by stepping into the pocket and throwing while moving to his left side.

  • @jonq8714
    @jonq8714 ปีที่แล้ว

    Makes you wonder if the potential GOAT was never drafted... Purdy's only knock at this point is the zip on his passes, which isn't there and clearly has been taken down a peg post surgery. I think he'll recover some of that as he gains strength over the course of the season, but if not that's something that could become a problem if the talent around him dips. Good start for him.
    And I'm super stoked to see Brandon Aiyuk dominate.

He just started playing. He's fought past a serious injury already. He's the best we've had in a while. He has drive. I hope he continues to produce like he has in such a short time.

    Brock Purdy has 'Joe Montana like sensing and evasive skills'...he is going to break a lot of opponents hearts, just like Joe did. Imagine this: Just as the defensive end barrels in, and you are so excited your guy is going to clobber Purdy, he side steps and throws a TD...it's coming guys!

      Also, that was my one constant criticism of the 9er's offense: they didn't seem like they were treating Watt with the respect he deserves. No double teams, or even nudging him with cmc or Kittle off the line. I would have loved to see Purdy have a little more urgency in getting the ball out with Watt's speed off the edge, but thought he had a way better feel for the pocket than Jimmy G did. But with all that pressure turning into 1(ish) fumbles and no int's, I'll take that as a win.

    If you don't recognize Purdy's back shoulder throw to Aiyuk as a "perfect throw", I'm sorry, but I don't think you understand the game of football.
    And then you skipped his best play of the game where he rolled out from a free runner and threw against his body for a first down.
    Then you ignored his second best play of the day where he evaded pressure by stepping up and finding Samuel for another first down.

  • @richardschaffer5588
    @richardschaffer5588 ปีที่แล้ว

    Good decisions trump good throws. Purdy is accurate! He makes the layups. Jimmy G was the best 9er qb Kyle had until now. Eyes are not a small detail, looking coverage off is critical against a zone. After the corner turned his back on Brandon A. he became an obstacle not a defender that was Brock’s big boy throw, NFL not NCAA.
