Yup. Whip and tongue is a recommended graft when scion and rootstock are the same width. I was looking for the Z grafting technique because it is supposed to be a good one when the scion is fatter than the rootstock. Also it seems to be popular for grafting citrus trees.
Im really sceptical that this works when the tree and branches are leafed out and green like this!! You need to do this when the branch you cut off (scion's) need to be dormant then grafted as soon as the root stock breaks dormancy. Otherwise im pretty sure youre wasting your time.
hi , Toufik no you can not graft across 2 different race of tree , you always can graft only among the same family but different variety, like you can graft white mulberry to red mulberry , or for example green apple to red apple or sweet lemon to lemon or orang

This isn't Z grafting, in my country, we call it the double English grafting technique, mainly used with grapevines!
