    My hair color is a mixture of gray and salt and pepper. My hairstylist WILL NOT COLOR MY HAIR. He says the hair color compliments my skin tone and he would rather give me a great haircut than spend time putting toner and color on my hair. I didn't ask for a cut and color when I first met my stylist years ago - he mentioned this as part of the initial meet and greet. He saved me a lot of money and time ( and having to refresh the color every few weeks). I use a purple shampoo once a week and I get regular trims. My hair looks and feels amazing.

    How right she is! I am one of the many who stopped colouring my hair during Covid. With all the gray hair I seen with colouring it since I was 18 ( present 59 ), I thought that I would have a head full of dull gray hair. 3 plus years later, I am probably 1/4 - beginning 1/2 gray! Man, was I ever disappointed and still am! I want a glorious head of gray hair because I know that I earned every single one!!! It has crossed my mind to go and get it coloured gray, but I am so over panicking over my roots showing, the cost, the mess, the smell and colouring in itself! I have had 1 trim since Covid so my hair is past my shoulders and fine. The problems that I am having now is oily scalp/hair, which I think all the peroxide must of kept away) and flyaway staticky hair.
    I am going to start the suggestions in this video to strengthen my hair and enjoy my grays even more!!!

      That’s when I started to contemplate ditching the dye. I ended up coloring it a time or two and then decided to stop. I too was disappointed I don’t have more gray. Lol. It’s all in chunks (streaks) near the front. From the back I don’t even look like I have gray hair 😂. I was hoping for a full head of glorious silvers too. Have you tried using a boar bristle brush? It can help distribute the oils from your scalp to the ends of the hair to balance out oils.

      I've found(1year in) that my grey hair soaks up more of the serums,finishing creams and oils I still need to put on the dyed parts. So your problem could be too much,or too heavy conditioner,or serums. Now I can see what is happening with mine I apply most of it to the dyed areas,and just the residue left on my hands to the grey area. Hope this helps.

      @therealsheilaford  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@pheart2381 that’s a great tip! Conditioning mid length to ends only and avoiding too much conditioner at the scalp (like you mentioned, just the residue to tame down any dryness or flyaways) helps, too. I have found there to be a learning curve when it comes to caring for grays vs. dyed hair. 😅

    Ive been blending with blonde for about 4 or 5 years now. I get a lot of compliments on the white. I was a dark brunette most of my life so when I show my newer friends old pictures of me they can't imagine me with dark hair, they're used to my skunk stripes

    I too started growing out my grey during Covid and it took a full 2 years plus. My hair was very dark brown and I had warm highlights. So I went from warm tones to cool tones. I’m salt and pepper with stronger grey “stripes” coming in. It’s fun to see the change. Some people like it some don’t. I like it so that’s all that matters.

    I've tried to go gray, but the color variance within my hair looked like a dog's butt.
    As far as strengthening my hair and adding lustrous shine, once a week I first wash my hair with sulfate free shampoo then gently squeeze out the water and add about 1/4 cup of 100% avocado oil making sure it's drenched from roots to ends. Let it sit while washing the rest of my body and then re-wash my hair to release most of the oil then adding just a little high quality conditioner after rinsing the shampoo and finally rinsing the conditioner with cool water. I've had MANY women stop and ask how I get my hair so shiny.
    I do however usually wash my hair twice a week, second time no oil...
    *I also supplement with B vitamins

    • @therealsheilaford
      @therealsheilaford  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I can understand the color variance. Mine is not totally gray. It’s more like gray streaks all in the front. Lol Hard to tell on video because I’m usually looking directly at the camera. But, I can change my look just by parting it differently which is fun. Great tips! Hydration and sulfate free shampoos make a big difference. 😊

    • @virtuosa69
      @virtuosa69 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @therealsheilaford It definitely has for me. My hair was a wreck and absolutely depressing.
      At about 45, I started to lose my thick and gorgeous hair, which allowed me so much confidence in a stressful world; at least I could make my hair look good.
      But then, by 48, my hair was half its former volume and lost its bounce and youthful sheen; devastating.
      I'll be 54 in December, and my hair appears and feels to have more volume, certainly not as voluminous as before 45, but certainly not as bad as 49. I've been using the oil technique for about 2 years, so moral of the story, you can rehab your hair ✨️💖✨️
