When you compare its size, its metal tranny gears, ball bearings, steering servo, and included lighting the $249.00 for the UTB18 Capra is IMO a far better bang for the buck than the $150.00 TRX-4m. I already have overdrive gears and aluminum steering links ordered. The brass accessories from horizon are a bit pricey but they are available(I'm waiting for aftermarket). My owners manual frustratingly pictured the controller AA batteries 'stacked' incorrectly, and I needed to find the 'On'Off' switch myself. I wish the controller had the batteries in a more common flat horizontal base rather than vertically stacked in the 'baseless' grip(very inconvenient). I don't think the tires have any foams. I crawled for an hour in my rock garden and it still made its way back into the house and 'RC' room on its own power.
what wheels and tires are u running? I was running the 1.9 with proline krawlers g8 but they are a bit to big.Was thinking of the KLR voodoo mt-x which are 4.1
Well, I went to my LHS yesterday and they had one of these and one of the trx4m in stock. I have two 1/10 capras so I decided to get the trx4m for something different. I regret it so much now lol. I should have just went ahead and got the capra. You get so much more for the money. The capra has metal links, metal gears, lights, better size for crawling, better everything. The trx4m will not have any upgrades available until mid January!!! All i really wanted was an aluminum steering link since the trx4m likes to bind and flex a lot. But, i went on traxxas site and all of their upgrades will not be available until Januaray. That is such a release fail if you ask me. Why release this thing before Christmas if you can't get any parts for it! Some people have gotten lucky and their LHS have some upgrades already but mine didn't have any nor will they be getting any until Feb they said. So disappointed that I broke down and bought my first traxxas lol
my friend just got one, it's cool that it's capable enough to take out on real trail runs...i drive a TRX4 but with that he'll be able to follow me everywhere not like most other 18th scaler.
Axial has overdrive gears for the Baby Capra... along with brass portal weights. Lots of stuff coming from Axial, but none of it is in stock yet. I have one of these -- picked it up last week. I LOVE it.
They don’t catch its plastic at an angle . Every time I grab my trx it dworfs My straight axles for clearance at any angle. 1.55 wheels are no problem they work great. Those nittos are looking real nice! Nice review thank you. This is a beast for the smaller and really is at the barrage 2 size 1/12.
I agree with the comments. The Capra rocks and is well worth the money. I took a beating comparing the value of the TRX4m & the Capra. I still like my TRX4m. But, the Capra is so much fun on the rocks! Nice video! Thanks.
Hey joe, I run 300w shock oil in my capra stock shocks with 90 mm springs to get full droop and still have some adjustability. The setup is amazing and would love for you to try for yourself. That lil guy maybe 50 to 100w no springs or smaller ones like I did and I guarantee you’ll love it, no need for bands to hold down. It holds great when they usually are unloading and shocks are soooo smooth. Thanks for the vid buddy 👍
TRX4M Runs sweet...The Capra is a beast..lites and alll super fun rig..wait 2 u get the up grades 😊🤙🛎🛎🚨🚨🚨Yes they hav over drive available already n brass plus links n more
I really hope someone makes a dig. If they use a micro servo there is enough room for it. I'm running pring 70-75 mm shocks with the short springs from og axial shocks and have to guess they are 60-65 mm. Definitely sits low. Had to cut off the top servo mounting hole on the servo and the servo mount. Won't sit any lower without doing some major cutting witch I don't want to do. Posted up pictures the other day and see a few people got them on but haven't done the spring mod yet. Once done you will love it. Red short springs in the front and green short in the rear. I'm hoping someone comes out with a double barrel style shock for them that work well with some 65-70mm limiting straps.
I think the capra is more like 14th scale, since I know the trx4m is pretty much bang on 18th scale when you do the math. However it's a great truck and I can see pretty good opportunities for both rigs
I mean everyone is saying about the size being so big and not being 1/18 scale but if you compare it to other 1/18 scale comp crawlers its pretty spot on as far as size goes. Everyone is comparing 1/18 comp trucks to trail trucks. That's why it looks so huge
This might be a controversial opinion but the 1/24 scale parts are not scale to the size of the body but they look scale on the 1/18 scale bodies and the capra should probably be 1/16 but when it comes to the "midsize" this should be the the standard and 1/18 should replace 1/24
The little rigs do nothing for me sadly and I didn’t like the og Capra . Just don’t like the buggies but that a personal view and opinion . I’m still waiting for something cool .
At the price point it makes zero sense. Just buy a 10th scale for 50$ more can get new 10th scale element release. That capra is just wrong size at that money. Doesn't fit 24 courses and for a cpl more dollars can have a real 10th scale crawler not a want to be.
@Forrest Farris yes but they are real 24s not some large course dorfing monstrosity. Just like running a cr12 on a 24 course and saying it does really well. Well no shit it's twice the size.
@Forrest Farris right but the price point is str8 ripping off its customer's. And pple line up for it. Fms can build a more detailed hard body with more metal parts for 150$ and a larger Corp axial builds a cheaper bodied capra with all plastic gears and your telling me they can't sell it for 150$. Even traxxas only charges 150$ for theirs. Axial is just ripping pple off. I know they need to make money but to cash grab on a cheap plastic rc is just shitty. If it was even 189 it be less offensive. A d I have no problem throwing loot at a RC but getting str8 ripped off I'm not down for that.
What I love about the UTB18 is how many "standard" parts are used. Like the connector, servo, wheels, etc. 👍👍

Really don't care what size they call it , I like it and with just a few mods it's going to be super capable
Likewise perfect size for us too
O it's very capable. I have videos on tiktok of mine already moded

I can't wait to get my hands on these!!! First things first will be the tires and shocks for sure.
Positive about servo 200 300oz shorty work amazing on it and get Holmes 380 he has and Holmes esc it be amazing.

They already have od and brass available. Axial put out a pile of mods for them already.
I agree with the comments. The Capra rocks and is well worth the money. I took a beating comparing the value of the TRX4m & the Capra. I still like my TRX4m. But, the Capra is so much fun on the rocks! Nice video! Thanks.
They already have upgrades for it out. Towerhobbies has them all. Overdrive gears are already out. Class 0 krawlers are 1.9 and same size

I put 45wt and removed spring retainers and lower rubber bushings for now. Still tinkering
Sounds like a good start to me 👍 I forgot about that part, I also have removed all the bottom retainers
Seems closer to a 14 scale in my opinion but the trx4m feels small for 1/18 could just be me though

Looking good pal nice video

It's 1/12 scale. It was based off the 1/18 ecx temper. Also sale scale of the 1/12 ecx barrage
can you compare it to a capra with standard capra axles and wheelbase?
Nice review, I want it.
These look sweet. Wish upgrades where not sold out already
More like preorder
😂 thought it was funny seeing a Capra with stock Danchee tires.
Awesome 😎

Did I spot a new Traxxas Bandit?🤔
Compare those to the losi mini comp crawler
I can't decide if I want 3 of the trx4ms or 3 of the capras
Joe Axial has hop ups for this I over drive metal links rs ect
Get a 1/18 ecx temper and watch your mind be surprised it's the same size
Have 2 great little rc crawler. Wonder if the capra's the same size as temper gen 2
@@keithlea6804 it is. The Manger design was handed one and was told to make an axial version of it
On the real rocks let me tell u. She a beast runs sexie
I think I want one!
Ther Super ..and tough

I took my capra on some real rocks against the bigger capra and wow
I really like it. I know exo is gonna get stupid with modding this thing and I can't wait to see it on the exoplex rox
I got the brass already and took it 2 some big rocks 2 climb its a beast b4 upgrades
I love mine…

@@urdonercjeremyburris7541 so do my 24s but don't cost 250$. It's

And you pd 250 and modded. You are over 300$ should just bought a 10th scale. A cheap 300$ 10th will out crawl that odd size new bright looking thing.

Not at that price no thanks will buy the kit so long as it doesn't come with electrics, shocks or wheels and at a lot cheaper price
That’s usually how Kits come duhhhh
@@Ck91143 most kits do come with shocks and wheels and tyres very few come without them these days, body need for sarcasm
Copied 1/10 Capra alright except missing the dig function which would have justified the price $250.
Awesome 👍
