    Nice to see tractor action in Connecticut. I lived in Darien for 65.5 years. Now I'm retired, moved to rural New Hampshire, have a '51 JD A with no 5 7foot sickle mower, and maintain grass fields on my 1790 50 acre farm. My mother grew up on a 300+ acre dairy farm Hammondsport NY. My cousin operates that farm today, selling Lg round hay bales. Getting your Oliver to a Tractor Pull was a huge accomplishment. Great job and presentation 🏆👍👍

      Thanks for watching. Your place in NH sound amazing. I need to find a place like that with space for a barn and a place to put my tractors to work.

    Great to see a young man not worried about getting his hand dirty. To many just want to push buttons. Keep up the good work.

    It was fun to watch you work on this Oliver 70. When I was your age in 1979 I rescued our family’s first tractor a 1942 Oliver 70 standard from the scrap pile. When I got into it I found that the governor weight had worn out and come off and ended up in the trimming gears and had broken off the end of the cam shaft. Luckily we had a neighbor that had a 70 row crop that had a cracked block he let me pull parts off it to get mine running. My brother is running the farm now and keeps it stored in barn.

    The manifold resurfacing was by far the best function for a properly running engine. This raised the horsepower to design rates. These engines by their very nature were low horsepower to run all day for pennies. Farmers in the day had just moved a few years earlier from draft horses and were not in any way high production produce machines but just removed from plow mules answering to gee and haw plowing up rocks. The fertilizer products were not geared to feeding huge city numbers as in today with hydrocarbon ammonia production.

    Way to go young man you officially have the "pulling" bug hope it stays with you I see lot gray haired pullers out here anymore unfortunately not seeing near enough youngsters getting into it anymore to take over for us old timers.

      There seems to be quite a handful of younger pullers near me. But yes, we need people interested in antiques so they keep producing parts.

    Great video, on the 70 muffler are there exhaust donuts that go on or do they just slide into the manifold elbows ? Ive got the new manifold, elbows and muffler but it seems like they would leak where the muffler meets the elbow ? Thanks !

      The Oliver standard is still under a tarp beside the garage. I have an engine for it but, the axle splines are worn so I need to find new axles.

    What happened to the other Oliver 70 tractor that had the bad engine woth the cracked main bearing and bent push rods? If you made a second video I did not see it. You should watch Ross the Oliver man and Jonathan W's videos. I think you would enjoy them.

    I'm new to your channel. Did you buy a second Oliver 70? Your first one had a terribly broken motor.

    • @thesmallenginekid
      @thesmallenginekid ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have 3 now. The first, a “standard” had a cracked block and needs a different engine installed. The second, the one in this video obviously is in good condition and pulls well. And a Third which I have to put the video together.
