Working in New Orleans as a Health Care professional at Many public and private hospitals, I dedicate this music to the memory of JP Sheriff Harry Lee who I owe my allegiance to. Thank you for protecting Jefferson Parish after Hurricane Katrina. Bravo Zulu.
Although where I live (Mobile, Al.) is the birthplace of Mardi Gras, I enjoy New Orleans Mardi Gras the most. When I was living in NOLA, I never went home for Mardi Gras.
You should move down here but you would never know the true feeling down here in Louisiana unless your born and raised down here ✊🏽😎 it's a wonderful place to be I'm from Louisiana myself
I'm a Brit and spent a month travelling round the States last summer. New Orleans was far and away the highlight of the trip for me. The music, the people, the food, the beautiful buildings, the optimism of the residents in the face of recent events. Just an amazing city. I was lucky enough to see the Rebirth Brass Band at the Maple Leaf,Bar, after a local recommended them. I'd never heard of them. Now I'm wearing out my vinyl copy of their album and coming on TH-cam to hear more! And dancing in my seat...
Richard Robson Glad you had fun! I'm not from there but I'm lucky to live just an hour away. I've been to many cities in the U.S. too but NOLA is definitely unique, I visited it once and couldn't help but miss it and want to come back.
Richard Robson I'm hoping to find them playing in New Orleans during my vacation there this coming December; looks like they're on a tour break, and don't start up again until January, when they'll be in the UK -- looks like they've gone fairly big-time.
Christopher Carr Thanks for the tip, Christopher. I've just bought tickets to see them on 24th January in Manchester in jolly old England. Hope the boys don't mind a bit of cold and rain (or snow!) We'll give them a warm welcome anyway. Hope you have a great trip in December, and you hear some fantastic music, even if it isn't Rebirth...
+Richard Robson Listen to the Hot 8 brass band, dirty dozen brass band, Lil Rascals brass band, new birth brass band, Youngblood brass band, hypnotic brass ensemble, the hackney colliery band, lucky chops, too many zooz, moon hooch...!
Yes the second line is an African Tradition. Just like the many things we New Orleanians of African and Haitian descent do! It is in our music, our food, and even in the way we talk!
there's no stepping like that no where in the world but in the BOOT NOLA BABY where pigmentation of the skin DOES'NT MATTER :) NEW ORLEANS LA.cant we all get alone
I was in New Orleans over the weekend for my birthday, and we turned a corner and got caught up in a great street performance! You can't help dancing and I want to go back! The people are friendly! the food the best and the music is AMAZING!!
omg i love playing this song in our high school marching band...my band teacher is from new orleans and i just love the way he writs our music....i love louisiana and new orleans theres no other place like them in the hole world.
My family have standing orders to do this when I die. Jazz funeral, baby. I might be gone, but y'all need to celebrate that wonderful ride. Enjoy life, brah. It is here and then gone in a flash. Enjoy the freakin' ride.
I'm from Redlands CA, and this wants me want to buy a one-way ticket. This music is unstoppable, no other word for it, and if you can't move to it you're dead.
That is what the second line is...it is a celebration of the departed who has now crossed over into the second line...the after life! It is an African Tradition.
My hubby Ric lived in the Quarter for almost 40 years before Katrina. And came to NY in 2005. Soon as our NY biz is handled, NOLA gets him back -- along with me!! Jumpin' Second Line..Jehosaphat--can't wait. If I get to hear groovy music like this every day, what more could anyone ask??
I've played his song with brass bands from Canada, Italy, and Sweden, they do not royalties if other groups play their songs live. This is a killer groovy tune!
Love my city, we do this every weekend, this is a SECONDLINE.............not MARDI GRAS or FUNERAL. This is provided by a SOCIAL AD CLUB, that's why you see the men secondlining, with the band...............and some of these comments aren't from real NOLA FOLKS, because they're racist remarks. You will see black and white celebrating together, it's normal!!!
Love everything about New Orleans...everything! It's my city forever but I don't think Houston is boring at all as some have implied. So much to do there and I always have a great time. Galveston is fun too - good food and music.
Thanks thanks thanks to the recoder of this most AWESOME MEMORY!!! I am now in St. LOUIS as a result of KATRINA RELOCATION. I KNOW WHAT IT MEANS TO MISS NEW ORLEANS.😮❤😂😂😂😂
Im from New Orleans (waddup Gerttown) and live now in Houston. After we won DAT, our party second lined the whole block and it grew bigger and bigger. once upon a muggy may night back in '06 i saw these cats play at this joint called the maple leaf--hands down 1 of the most illest shows i've ever seen. Rebirth- i love you guys. please come play in OKC.
To trespin: There are a number of things i like about Houston and a lot of reasons i'm out of New Orleans but as far as food, music, celebrations, ambience, and spirit, New Orleans wins HANDS DOWN.
Ah Ribirth Brass Band They throw some great second lines together. Can't W8 till Mardi Gars and when dem win that superbowl New Orleans will party so hard that the city is gonna raise above city level with excitement.
ME TOO! I was born and raised in NYC but oh my god, I feel like I am from New Orleans in my soul lol. I hear this music and I dance my heart out. Go New Orleans! :D
@TheWarrior831 I'm FROM New Orleans and the street perfomers solicit TIPS, not CHARGED from spectators, but the entertainment is provided FREE, it's up to the spectators if they want to tip or not (not all are able to do so). I have a personal family friend (Herman Hack) who performs next to Cafe' DuMonde near the French market (see video "New Orleans street performers, when the saints go maching in"). N.O. mardi gras is known as America's largest FREE party or something to that affect.
Nowhere else like it on Earth ❤️
Growing up in this city as a child, I took this scene as "just another weekend in my hood". Now, I'm missing those weekends. Gotta love my city.
YESS INDEED😂
Best New Orleans Brass Band EVER!!! 🎉❤
Working in New Orleans as a Health Care professional at Many public and private hospitals, I dedicate this music to the memory of JP Sheriff Harry Lee who I owe my allegiance to. Thank you for protecting Jefferson Parish after Hurricane Katrina. Bravo Zulu.
One of the greatest Mardi Gras songs. Embodies the spirit of New Orleans, the people mainly. Love this one.
Although where I live (Mobile, Al.) is the birthplace of Mardi Gras, I enjoy New Orleans Mardi Gras the most. When I was living in NOLA, I never went home for Mardi Gras.

We can not ever forget New Orleans, LA.
We had some times there: the parties, the food, the people, the church, etc.
This is the best live recording of the song.
I don't care if they come up with 16k and whatnot, nothing beats this.

A typical Weekend in New Orleans. God, this is why we stay here, Thank.
Real second lines ALWAYS got a whistle man!
