What will this team be without the ultimate glue guy- Iglesias?? I understand that there’s younger guys that should take his place - I get it. But, you CANNOT replace that chemistry. Theyre gonna need Acuna to shoot a music video and call it Holy Sh**! Then, after every HR, they hold up the Holy Sh** sign.
It drives me nuts when the biggest fans of my teams are idiots. Instead of peppering Stearns and Cohen with Pete questions, the fans should have been hollering for the team to re-sign Iglesias. Iglesias was clearly a better player last year than Pete was. Pete batted .136 (!) late and close last year. Iglesias was amazing offensively and defensively, and costs a small fraction of what Pete would cost. Sign Iglesias now!
How long do you think that feeling lasts? 5 months will have passed since their last game the next time they play another one. Give Acuna the job.

No one should be "given" the job. And under Stearns/Mendoza, no one is. Iglesias had to earn it last year. If the Mets let Pete walk and then bring back Iglesias, then at _least_ five players will be competing for two jobs: Acuna, Baty, Iglesias, McNeil, and Mauricio (and probably a few more guys) trying to win 3B and 2B.
How are the METS making a "big mistake"...?? Pete Alonso will sign with the METS in a day or two...Nowhere else for him to go and the METS still want him back...
I hope not. Mets are better without him.

The Mets are using the analytics of Pete's statistical numbers over the last 2 years, his age, weight and league interest which seems to be very little in order to determine a price range. Knowing this, they have determined that they can squeeze him because he, according to the statistics, is declining, and this can backfire on the Mets because they need him even if they're acting like they don't. Fans see this.

Mets made the playoffs last year when Alonso stunk and they had no obvious ace. Unless you count Manaea, and he's back, plus they have Senga.

They overachieved not luck. I do agree with you about pitching staff. Montas most overpaid player in MLB. Seriously doubt Montas could be successful at AA ball. Don't know what Mets are thinking with this starting staff. I'm grateful Manea back tho.

Boomer I’m sorry bro but this is not an NLCS team. The lineup is weaker, even with Soto, the rotation is idk wtf it is and even the pen is ehhh. Idk if they even make the playoffs. The NL is stacked. This team is not good

Pitching staff - worse. There are not 3 guys giving 180 innings+ and 3 era in this staff.

@Standdividedfalltogether So, let's say Pete doesn't come back, Vientos is better overall than 2024 Pete. 2B is the same, 3B is downgraded. Siri and Bader is the same as Bater and last year's Siri. Nimmo is a wash and random fourth outfielder playing right is now Juan Soto. Alvarez played to his floor, so that's a wash or potential improvement.
The bullpen added Minter and Holmes if he doesn't work as a starter. The staff is back, but Sevi is replaced by Senga and Quintana is replaced by Montez (a wash) and we have a full year of Peterson.
We've upgraded without Pete and a 95 win team when he signs.
Vegas has us at 92 wins.
What happened to this being a hobby for Cohen. The Mets need Alonso, without him they are the 3rd best team in the division. With him they might be the best. I’m sick of this nonsense. Can the Mets & Cohen give us fans one more exciting day this off season or are we going to be punished because Cohen gave us Soto. So annoying!!
Pete has declined every year and now he’s in his 30’s. He’s a 1 trick pony. He was around the 100th most valuable position player in baseball last year and is probably gonna get worse. He strikes out too much to put him in the middle of any winning batting order.
And! Maybe we wouldn’t have needed his dramatic HR against the Brewers If he had actually been hitting in the series.
He’s like the 5th best hitter on the team? And next year they are signing Vlad Jr. Peace out Pete!
@@PitBullSamiTut A couple of things: 1) even in his so-called "declining seasons," Pete has averaged 40 HRs and over 100 RBIs in the last two years; 2) Pete has a postseason OPS over 1.000. Very few players can claim either of those things.

I, personally, doubt the Mets sign Vlad Jr mostly because I don't see Stearns locking up huge money in just two players over more than a decade. It's not his style. I guess if Cohen steps in and makes it happen, .. okay. But right now it appears Cohen is trying to save luxury tax money. So I wouldn't hold my breath. Final point: if the Mets sign Pete for 3 years, then get Vlad Jr after next season ... there is room in the lineup for Soto, Vlad Jr, and Alonso.
@@dashx1103 not at all opposed to signing Pete 3 for 70 and batting him 5th. But, he can’t bat in the top 4. Do what the 86 Mets did with Darryl - the power hitter who strikes out bats 5th.
