I find the parasocial aspect of the fandom overwhelming. I honestly don’t understand it. How does someone get to that mind set. For me coming from a Western culture it equates to stalker behavior. I find it down right scary. In my lifetime I supported many different groups. I’ve had groups that my friends and I would go to see in several different cities. We never tried to approach the group. I live in a city that is very rock and roll oriented. After shows we would go to a certain club that bands unusually went to when in town and would often do an impromptu set. Never once did I believe that this group was my property or they knew who I was. 😢 I never tried to approach them. I was there to dance and appreciate the music. Often you would run into one of the members of the group like Bruce Springsteen, John Bon Jovi, Arerosmith and Madonna to name a few mingling with the crowd. To me that was priceless. We wanted the bands to know we respected and we wanted them to feel comfortable in our city. To know they were safe in a public atmosphere. I am not saying Western culture doesn’t have a contingent of stalker behavior but for the most part we handle it.
I'm from the US and wirk for the Dept of Justice. I think a lot of this comes from the COVID time frame. It appears that more mental health issues are now in the community
@@ritaowen3499 I agree with the mental health aspect of it. I don’t know if it’s because I’m from The US but we seem to embrace the need for mental health intervention easier. It hasn’t always been that way and in some instances it’s not true. I do think with each generation it has become more socially acceptable. I hate to see young people falling into unhealthy mental practices. I think the obsessive behavior exhibited needs to be first addressed at home. And again I know it’s a cultural thing.

But what I‘m wondering most of(I‘m an older ARMY) is that quite a number of ARMYs are writing every day a lots of times that members are their husbands or boyfriends especially to JK and V.
