2 questions if I may. Is one of the palm rest cables connected to power on /off switch? the 2 afore mentioned cables I cannot fix because the retainer clips broke! I have never seen anything so stupid as those things. I tried every which way but loose to get them to click on the cables, and in the end they just flew off never to be found!. Is there any way of fixing the cables on, like tape or solder?
Great tutorial. My board was fried and had to be replaced. I was able to do so very easily by following the steps here. One question though.. The other circuit board must have fried as well because the Three USB ports don't work. Do you have a link to that part number? It is the circuit board right before removing the motherboard in this video. Thanks
looking into upgrading my motherboard to handle the 7th Generation Intel® Core™ i7- 7820HK processor and NVIDIA GeForce® GTX1080. Is there a motherboard that can do this and fit the casing config? Or am I stuck just buying a new computer?
Parts-People.Com, Inc, thanks for the reply. What I am thinking is upgrading the whole motherboard kit, so my laptop is no longer considered a L702x so to speak. So just wondering if you have seen a motherboard, with newer specs, but with a similiar usb and HDMI port config and size so that it fits within the laptop shell/casing.
No that is not something that anybody makes. The form factor for the case is way too specific. Only Dell would be able to do something like that, which of course if they did, they would just create a brand new laptop with better specs. That's the problem with laptop gaming rigs, they can only be upgraded so far and then they become obsolete after a couple of years.
Installed new motherboard today and working perfectly, thanks for the video
What is the most powerful processor for the Laptop socket?

I think it's this circuit board. www.parts-people.com/index.php?action=item&id=11826

Does this laptop have 2 Ram slots or 4?
+Joshua's Recordings It depends on the motherboard. Some have only 2 and some have 4. This one only had 2.
How do I know which motherboard I have?
You will need to find the part number. It should be located under one of the memory slots.
Ok gotcha thank you

The fastest i7 CPU I've seen for the L702X is the 2860QM and unfortunately the GPUs are built onto the motherboards and cannot be changed.

Parts-People.Com, Inc I figured as much but thought I would ask anyways, thanks!
