Interesting how you only got reimbursed for just the Visa.
I've worked for Royal Caribbean and Disney cruiseline and In all my contracts I've always been reimbursed for The Visa and The Medicals on my first salary onboard
But I guess it differs with ships.

Hi Thandeka I am due to do my medicals for Royal Caribbean. I was told that the Visa they will reimburse bt medicals its your responsibility...also if you dont mind me asking what is it that u do?

I guess things have changed,The first time I did my Medicals for Royal in 2016,I literally got reimbursed about R6000 also got Reimbursed For my Visa
The newer contacts with Disney same thing,got reimbursed for both.The finance department Just asked for my Receipts that I had kept with me

The first time I applied through an agency which nolonger exists today.
Now some people Apply directly to the website or through GRISA.
Now applications are done through GRISA
Gourment Recruitment International South Africa.
It's easier to attend recruitment events they do as they conduct interviews on such days

Please help, the send me offer letter or contract and I've signed it send it back. They also sent me this lots of Bermudan documents., Which confused me what to do with them. Do they give you a contract and if they do can you renew it every year or every few months.
Yes you can keep renewing it after each contract and try select the ships you'd like to be on and if available, you can get it

hi Im going thro the on boarding process presently do they pay for the new crew member flight to the ship for the first time?
With each department it differs but usually they’ll pay you back after the completion of your first contract

Hello dear, I just got my offer letter and I see on the medical part one needs to have good vision, if I may ask can a long sighted person fail the medical coz I have to put my glasses on, I applied for an F&B post
As long as you have prescriptions you’ll be fine. I also wear glasses and many other do as well

They used a system call Ocean pay and they transfered the money there then I transferred it to my own account. I tried to only move money once a month or every two months just to reduce bank and conversion chargers but they weren't bad in my opinion

I was recruited by cast-a-way agency. Had three interviews that included one with Carnival. Got a offer and welcome letter and now i have to get the docs in order. When i googled medical test i saw ones for R2000 so I'm shocked at the R5000 you had tl pay. So basically you don't have the job yet only until docs are in and when the call again which can be 6months later?

I was 23 when I got the job, 22 when I applied. To be honest I'm not sure of the exact age they take for the jobs but at 18 it will depend on what experiences you have and what post you applied for. Message me on my Instagram dear @sine_hlengane

Full medical was +- R5000. Prices can differ for each ship and type of tests/vaccines etc they require. Generally all R5000- 7000 last time I went
