"Box. Rectangle. Dashed in the ground all bruised and mangled. Grim. Grab the cup, pass the Gin. Grab the Lime, chopped it up. Popped the cap, poured it in."
This bar is so good and I feel like everyone's missing the hidden meaning. A rectangular box in the ground is a coffin, but the victim is too grim looking for a burial. Quicklime is used by criminals to dispose of bodies, which are usually chopped up first, so that they decompose faster. So they popped the cap on the bottle of quicklime and poured it in to hide the evidence.

"he mess with the cake and I'll Battenberg him"
Battenberg is a cake with a checkerboard pattern inside made by cutting it up into sections, and it's also the name of the colored markings on ambulances/emergency vehicles in the UK and other countries, so he's using it as a verb in a novel way to mean both 'cut into sections' and 'send to the hospital.'

If you know UK slang and pop culture, they’re even more incredible. Every other line has a double or triple meaning.
Michelin is a tire company, but also the five-star rating system used for restaurants.
Mr. Benn was a character on a kids tv show from the 1970’s. He would change into various clothes in his walk-in closet and then step out into whatever time/place/scenario his costume dictated.
Bas picked up on that and started his next line with “Tin-Tin”, which was another UK kids show from the time.
Battenberg is a cake made in a checkerboard pattern … but also slang for an ambulance (because of the checkered pattern on the side). “Mess with the cake and I’ll Battenberg him” is a phenomenal bar.
Knock Down Ginger is what we call “Ding Dong Ditch” here in the States.
Mash = gun (in another one of their songs, Bas says he’s “banging that mash like English Breakfast”, which is just brilliant because “bangers and mash” is a traditional breakfast in the UK.)
Ben Sherman = men’s clothing line (a bit dated, LOL)
    HMP = Her majesty’s prison
Chain hang like bollocks = his chains are so heavy they swing like his balls. 😂
Cone get split like Chevron = splitting your head open like the V in the Chevron symbol
Also … Bas used to be a bare knuckle fighter in the day and I forget which gang Pete ran with. The stuff they rap about … pig farms, bodies in the trash and cementing people into buildings is straight mob shit.
I love these guys. They make my heart smile every day. They also scare the crap out of me because I’m pretty sure they’re serious.

My favorite is the "I'll hurt him, blank bar, one things for sure, two things for certain is in reference to the flow of that particular line. the first lyric is one and a break and the second is a two-bar link.

The opening verse has a WW2 scheme. Each bar last words.
Luger - a German semi-automatic pistol used by German soldiers in ww2.
Uber - Über is a German language word meaning over and above.
Wi-fi - George Antheil, born to German immigrants in Trenton, New Jersey. In 1941, Antheil developed a radio guidance system for Allied torpedoes in ww2 to synchronize frequency changes, referred to as frequency hopping, between the transmitter and receiver. It is one of the spread spectrum techniques that became widely used in modern telecommunications. Antheil's work helped with the creation of Wi-Fi.
Puma - a German sports brand founded by Rudolf Dassler in 1948. He was a member of the Nazi party.
Fall asleep to the sound of the Hoover - in ww2 when enemy planes were near and about to start dropping bombs. Air raid sirens would alert people to take cover/shelter. The siren sounded like a hoover (vacuum cleaner). Fall asleep meaning dying to the sound of the siren (hoover) as bombs landed.
Krueger - a German surname. Also Walter Kruger a Nazi SS General in ww2.
Martin Luther - a 16th-century German monk and reformer whose efforts to reform the theology and practices of the Catholic Church launched the Protestant Reformation.
Martin Luther was the most widely read author of his generation.
The prevailing view among historians is that his rhetoric contributed significantly to the development of antisemitism in Germany and of the Nazi Party.
Tuna - HMS Tuna (N94) was a T-class submarine of the Royal Navy during ww2.
USS Tuna (SS-203) was a United States Navy Tambor-class submarine, serving in the Pacific during ww2.

I’ve seen soo many reactions to this song.. no one ever brings up the line where bas talks about leaving them stiff from extended clips, gonna get lit. Like candles. Wax them off coming in from different angles. And then the line after that where he says that they’ll be in box, retangle. Dashed in the ground all buised and mangled.
That’s the hardest part of this song.

The bar about the Hoover, I fall asleep to the sound of the Hoover, Hoover being a vacuum cleaner, and also in 1964 Edgar Hoover, said Martin Luther king was the most notorious lier in America, so playing off the previous bar about Luther king, extremely clever wordplay, and that alone suggests to me they play a big part in the writing, as not many youngers would even now that shit 👍

  • @mataburt

No one ever picked up these bars!
Bas - “change my suite like Ben”
    Pete- 10/10”
Like Ben ten with the watch that changes alien whenever he wants.
    Also!
Pete - “fell in love and kissed”
    Bas - “the curb”
They are finishing each others bars!
Everyone always pauses right before and never picks it up! There are some other but those two are honestly my favorite and hardest bars 🫡🫡
