    This video very helpful. I owned an Ebike mid drive motor similar with this brand that run pedal assist. I'm thinking if I can add twist throttle. Is it possible to add twist throttle?

      Not that I know of, at least, not with Panasonic middrive motors from 10-12 years ago. The Giant Revive Spirit is the only ebike with a Panasonic motor that has something that looks like a throttle and it is the only ebike with a Panasonic motor with brake-levers that stop the motor-assist. The Panasonic motor can do it all, but it has to be wired and/or programmed to fulfill certain tasks. The throttle on the Spirit can only be used to change the assist-level and when you have reached the level you like, then you can push the “cruise” button to fixate the assistance-level (until you hit the brakes). I have not seen this on a Flyer or Kalkhoff ebike (which also were equipped with a Panasonic mid-drive motor). Other , more recent, motor brands often do offer a throttle as an after market upgrade. They cannot sell the bike including the throttle because of legislation. An ebike with a throttle is a motorcycle and requires extra insurance, other traffic rules apply, wearing a helmet is needed etc.

    Thanks for the video. This motor has hall sensors? If yes, Maybe it's possible to just connect an external controller?

      I don’t know if it has hall sensors. An external controller is possible, there is a video on TH-cam where someone managed to control the motor externally. To me it looks too difficult to make myself.

    ola,¿para que sirve el cable azul que está donde se conecta la vateria?

    • @zenmannl
      @zenmannl  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There is a red and white cable for the battery. @15min 23seconds you see those wires on the left side of the screen. The white cable has a thin blue cable attached to it with a white zip tie. Is that the blue cable you mean?
      That blue cable tells the display how much voltage is left in the battery. This only works for e-bikes from Flyer (Swiss brand), on the Giant Revive the battery does not have an active pin inside for the blue cable.

      So you have a 36V midmotor from Panasonic with a LED display with a homemade 36V battery. When you activate the system the display flashes and the motor will not assist. I think this is a protection from the manufacturer so you can only use their batteries as a replacement. The display needs a signal from the battery management system inside the battery to start up properly. That signal probably travels through the blue cable. Older e-bikes did not have these software-protections so you could change parts yourself. That is why I prefer the old stuff, I can replace every electrical part without the need to go to a bike-shop to tell the electrical system that there is a new part that can be trusted. I think a lot of manufacturers try to protect their business this way and violate “the right to repair”. It is a disgrace but you see it everywhere (Apple is a master in this field of protecting their business by making it impossible to repair their products). I’m sorry but I think you can not solve this yourself, you probably need a battery from BH to let it function again. Did you try a BH battery from someone else? That way you can determine wether all the other parts are still in good condition.

    Hello,
    I recently bought a bicycle with the same motor. I’m not very experienced in these matters, just a hobbyist. Unfortunately, I was a bit misled, and the condition of the bicycle is much worse than I thought.
    I’m experiencing an issue with the play in the large chainring, causing the chain to sometimes drop off. The small chainring, which is driven by the motor and functions as the motor's sprocket, also has a slight amount of play. But the main thing I’d like to ask is: is it normal for the small chainring, which the motor drives, to resist when I pedal without motor assistance? It seems to lack free play, causing the chain to sag from the large chainring when I start moving. When the motor starts, it suddenly grabs the chain, which sometimes makes it drop off again. Could you perhaps offer some advice for an inexperienced hobbyist?

      @zenmannl  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The axle with the small chainring is normally freewheeling counterclockwise. So when turning it counterclockwise by hand (which I just did on a spare motor) I hardly feel any resistance but when I turn it clockwise then I feel a lot of resistance. I hope this helps.

    So did you have a fault? You stripped down the assist detector but did nothing to it? I'm trying to find fault that motor just does not operate. All lights on battery okay etc. it doesnt seem possible to just run the motor to see if it work with this motor? any advice appreciated. thanks

      I bought the bike as a “non-runner”. I disassembled it to try and find a cause. As it turned out, there was no problem! I found that it is hard to test the motor with the bike hanging in the air. It can be done when you have the brake-lever pressed in with a zip-tie and then turn the pedals around. To reliably test the motor I prefer to mount it on the bike and just start pedaling on the road.

      @@pigerg Yes, I did try it but I tried it when when the bike was hanging in the air. That was before I knew you really have to apply a strong force on the pedals before the motor starts supporting. Live and learn…

      Hey, do you know if there is a risk of getting dirt and ruste inside the machine? Mine is super dirty and there are rust on the crank lever. Your motor seemed very clean for being an used one. What can you tell about the motor regarding its quality and its components?

    • @zenmannl

      @bjorkstal2041 Quality of the Panasonic motor is very good. Dirt can not get inside. Me and my wife still use our 15+ year old Flyer e-bikes and no issues with the motor whatsoever.

    Hallo,
    ich habe vor kurzem ein Fahrrad mit dem gleichen Motor gekauft. Ich bin nicht sehr erfahren in diesen Dingen, nur ein Hobbyist. Leider wurde ich etwas betrogen, und der Zustand des Fahrrads ist viel schlechter als gedacht.
    Ich habe ein Problem mit dem Spiel an dem großen Kettenblatt, wodurch die Kette manchmal abspringt. Auch das kleine Kettenblatt, auf das die Kette vom Motor übertragen wird, hat ein leichtes Spiel. Aber das Hauptproblem, das ich ansprechen möchte, ist folgendes: Ist es normal, dass das kleine Kettenblatt, das vom Motor gedreht wird, Widerstand leistet, wenn ich die Pedale ohne Motorunterstützung drehe? Es scheint keinen Freilauf zu haben, was dazu führt, dass die Kette von dem großen Kettenblatt absackt, wenn ich losfahre. Wenn der Motor eingeschaltet wird, nimmt er die Kette abrupt auf, was manchmal dazu führt, dass die Kette wieder abspringt. Haben Sie vielleicht einen Rat für einen unerfahrenen Hobbyisten?

      Sorry, but I have no time or room to work on other people’s bikes. You could try to buy another broken bike with a good motor and swap the motor.
