Very cool addition, nicely done. Great idea, especially since the provided analog voltmeter is such a non-resolution junk piece. To bad the junk digital doesn't fire up until 70v

Thanks man. I made this video really quick because some people on a guitar amp group requested it. The 50 volts thing doesn’t really bother me much. Because not a lot happens on most amps until they get at least up to 60-70 volts. And if they have a potential issue or it’s a new amp I’m firing up for the first time, I also plug in a light bulb limiter so I’ll know with the first few volts if there are any shorts or big issues. So 0-50 I rely on the light bulb limiter. And 50-120 I can watch the digital meter.

Great job , if you'd like to take it further or if it matters whether to see voltage from one and up, there's a way, I have done this mod on two variacs, but both show from one volt ,I don't profess to know what I'm doing but when I did my research, I found two videos from 3-4 years ago that used pzem-021 model meter by Peacefair, these meter needed to be slightly modified so they could show voltages from 0 to 150+.

Thanks for the heads up. Yes I’m aware of other meters now that will do that. But for now I’m good with it displaying at 50V and up. But if I get another one I’ll definitely look into using a different meter. Cheers man!

That sounds a bit confusing because the yellow wire comes OUT of the transformer.
I first thought you put the shunt on the input which wouldn't make sense 😂
