Yeah, as someone from North Carolina who has no chance to see a live PWHL game (at least this season), I also hope I can watch them remotely somehow. Happy to pay for it too.
Just checked out Brian Burke's wikipedia page - first thing it says is "Brian P. Burke (born June 30, 1955) is an American-Canadian ice hockey executive and serves as the Executive director of the Professional Women’s Hockey League (PWHLPA)." Great to see the important stuff up front!
Great show ladies and yes! Definitely do a live draft commentary, that will help the fans get to know their new players. Cheers and I won’t miss a single show.
I love Jamie Lee Rattray, was sad not to see her get snatched up in free agency by Ottawa, but I hope we can still get her at the draft! Cried tears of joy last year when she joined the senators at the skills competition, would be great to see her representing an Ottawa team as a pro player
PWHL has been a long time coming. Hockey is the only sport I follow, so I'm really excited for not only these women having a proper league they deserve, and more selfishly, to see this new original 6 get to work, and get those legacy started!
This is great news! If I might make a suggestion for what to be sure to not overlook going forward: *ADVERTISING* and *ACCESSIBILITY.* The #1 reason why I haven't seen more women's hockey in the past is because I almost never knew when games were happening or how I could watch them.
I really only have 3 questions, which I'm sure cannot be answered. 1. How do I make sure I can watch these games?? 2. Do we have an approximate timeline for announcements like, team names/logos/colours, broadcasting, and schedule? 3. How will playoffs work? I'm hoping to see some form of playoff that involves all six teams - mostly because I think that it would be beneficial to the league as a whole (and I want a well run league to stick around and be successful), as fans can all expect their team to have a chance in the playoffs even if the season wasn't great.
31:30 you called it re: venue sizes! When it comes to Toronto’s venue - it’s nice, but it’s too small and so many disappointed fans can’t get tickets. I heard that Coca-Cola Coliseum costs about $130K per event so maybe that was prohibitive… But this Toronto team needs a bigger venue next season for sure.
This was a great show, so good to hear about the inner details of the new women's league. The enthusiasm you guys have for it starting up is infectious and it's so good to see. Hopefully I can catch a game during the season. Also it's good to hear someone do a better pronunciation of Lopušanová - I still shudder at Adam Wylde's butchering of it.
Love this show. Icing on the cake for me would be if you got my favourite of them all on the show "Catherine Ward". I know she is a Manager with CCM and as such would be very busy but you could try. Pull out all the stops ladies.
When Kax said that an important piece for each team would be a playmaking "girl" and then paused for a second. I think we all know how much that statement means to them.
I am excited for this league to start. I believe this is a great time to start this league, since women's sports are on an upward trend right now. I strongly feel like this league will be a booming success. If there is expansion eventually, I hope Quebec City gets a team. There should be a professional hockey team in this city....
I think salaries should be public, especially if there is a salary cap. The main reason for that would be if the fans are clamoring to sign a piece to improve the team it would be nice to be able to say, we can’t because no cap room. Invested fans I think deserve to see that kind of thing
I understand that players would not love it, but I do think they should go public. And I don´t mean only for the perspective that players can better understand/compare their worth. There are salary enthusiasts.. and I mean that in the team building aspects. It is a such a big conversation thing in pro sports and especially with salary cap. And it is critical to gain interest by any means.
Im from NM, and I dont know many names, so I really want the live draft so I can scope out the teams and decide which I want to pick! Then I just need a way to watch them remotely!
I'm excited! I just wish that there were some western teams. But I suppose that there will probably be a 1967 style expansion with 6 west-ish teams at some point. But then I'll have to drop Montreal for Vancouver! That'll be awkward.
From Boston living in West Virginia. This is the first I’ve herd of the league. Can’t wait to see Boston bring another trophy home baby! Please tell me this is going to be online!
I'm really hoping the Ottawa team plays at TD place where the 67's play instead of the CTC. It sucks going out to Kanata for the Senators. I think they'd fare a lot better in a more central location. I know I'd go to a lot more games.
If you're going to have a team in Minnesota, you should put one in Madison, WI where the fans sell out every night for Women's Badger Hockey greatness. Btw, I will be rooting for all Badger alum in this league, but I'll pick Montreal to root for until a Southern team becomes available. In Atlanta and Charlotte hopefully.
Ladies, I hope it succeeds, but to truly be a viable project we need a high-speed rail network in Canada and the US (good luck with that one). Transport costs will sink your league in the end I think if revenues cannot overcome your expenses. This is the primary reason we also don't have a Women's Football (soccer) league in Canada.
Maybe i'm reading too much into it but I feel like the lack of age requirement and limit of age is going to lead to some weirdness, to say the least 🤣🤣
9:04 Growing up in the American West we call that “Horse trading”: You ask for something totally outrageous in the deal then you a lot of times end up with what you really wanted in the first place and the other side still believes that they got everything they wanted too or still.
Love this! I’m covering the league on my channel so check it out, too. The one question I haven’t seen addressed is the compassion clause (basically for mothers or people with special family situations) and where that shows up, if it affects the draft. I expect Toronto to draft Spooner, but… is that affected by the clause? perhaps they would want to draft Müller instead? I’d like some transparency just to be in the open.
Will the games be streamed? How can I watch? Take my money!
Seconded!
Same!
Also my question 😭
Yeah, as someone from North Carolina who has no chance to see a live PWHL game (at least this season), I also hope I can watch them remotely somehow. Happy to pay for it too.
Same here

Congratulations everyone!!! Can't wait to start watching some games!

"If we break a stick, we want another one to be on the bench"
"uh... yeah. Duh"
Crazy that it even had to be said. Congrats on the new league!
27:15 When I heard you say this, I was at work, in a public space, and it still made me audibly go WHOOOOAAAA!!! Seriously this would be SICK!!

Welcome back. The PWHL news has made what would be a slow August and Sept so much better. I cant wait for the season to start.
It's been five months now, and we're mid season! Can't wait to hear from you again! 🤘
Ladies when is your next podcast?
Glad to have you back girls !
The production quality!!!!! Thank you!!!!
So excited this is actually happening!!

Congrats ladies! I cant wait to see some women's games this year!
Good 👍 to have you guys back.
Excited to see you guys back!
Loved this!
So happy for all of you.
Great first episode back! And congrats on the new league and gigs! Excited for what is to come.
Detroit needs a PWHL team! Looking forward to more hockey to watch and hoping league expansion comes sooner than later!
Absolutely loved every second of this! Thank you ladies!!
I'm so pumped to watch everything about this league!
This is so exciting!! Thank you for working hard to get this one.

So happy there is finally one league. Can’t wait.
So happy the ladies are back!

shocking how many basic features of being a male pro player are not a given/granted for the ladies. Looking forward to checking out this first season.
Welcome back, great show with lots of info.
Need Womens Hockey in Vancouver.

Great podcast about the PWHL! Give me more: player analysis, etc.
YES!! Welcome back!

Love the Excitement and So happy to hear a women's league is funded and going to do really well.
Excited for the new league, even more excited that Ottawa has a team!!!
Im from NM, and I dont know many names, so I really want the live draft so I can scope out the teams and decide which I want to pick!

Never knew Knoxy and Kax had so much ink!
Love this show!!
God im so excited for the season to start in January
I can't WAIT to go to a game!! 🎉🎉🎉
Are we going to get more PWHL casts? The draft happened after this and it's been so quiet 😓😓
I've been waiting for this!
From Boston living in West Virginia. This is the first I’ve herd of the league. Can’t wait to see Boston bring another trophy home baby! Please tell me this is going to be online!
Congrats on the new league and new tats!
I hope to see a western expansion soon!
I CANT WAIT FOR MORE WOMENS HOCKEY!!!
Have they gauged viewership for this? Im truly curious as to how this will work out, i have barely heard anything about the free agency
Were back 😊

They recently confirmed that games will indeed be at TD Place. Great decision I think, CTC is way too hard to get to.
We back!
Hope to see some neutral site games in Alberta. Otherwise I guess I'm gonna be a Minnesota fan.
How many players had jobs last sesson but not this season?
If you're going to have a team in Minnesota, you should put one in Madison, WI where the fans sell out every night for Women's Badger Hockey greatness. 47:22 It will be interesting to see if players in the league keep the "4 year cycle"
So with Minnesota going first could they draft MPP ? or is it forgone she will be in Montreal?
She going to Montreal
love some good hockey
Will this league get added to NHL 24 and future games
Ladies, I hope it succeeds, but to truly be a viable project we need a high-speed rail network in Canada and the US (good luck with that one). Transport costs will sink your league in the end I think if revenues cannot overcome your expenses. This is the primary reason we also don't have a Women's Football (soccer) league in Canada.
Are the players from the European teams getting to play in this league?
Depends if they already have contracts with a different league. If they don’t they should be eligible as a free agent.
I think that Boston should stay the pride!!
Maybe i'm reading too much into it but I feel like the lack of age requirement and limit of age is going to lead to some weirdness, to say the least 🤣🤣
Where can the league be watched for those that don't live in the east.
9:04 Growing up in the American West we call that “Horse trading”: You ask for something totally outrageous in the deal then you a lot of times end up with what you really wanted in the first place and the other side still believes that they got everything they wanted too or still.
Hey live stream it! I won't find it if you don't ❤❤❤
I will go to game s

Fantastic
Finally!
So cool
Knoxy most Ottawa want Rattray back to Ottawa
The bar is low so hopefully this league will be better than the WNBA.
They will lie about how much money this will lose
I'll pass on this downgrade.
😴😴😴😴 womens hockey is a soozefest
