I think the Titan Fitness pads are the way to go. When these things break it is honestly easier to just get a new pair and you can do that 3 times over
Great review. I feel that both of these companies are limiting themselves by mainly marketing as noise reducers. As a home gym owner, I’d mainly want these for log presses. A much better option than tires.
@@CAHOP2401 Log press? I need these just to deadlift and row... Fifth floor apartment home gym... also bought a low wooden platform when pulling off these so the range of motion is similar to pulling off the floor.
Im curious about vibrations more than sound. Suppose you live in an apartment duplex or townhome... I know deadlifts transfer to the neighbors.... But will this mitigate it entirely?? Id buy if so.
The impact vibration is what he should be testing against these two products, that’s what carries through the concrete to adjacent areas in a building. The slap sound in the room is pretty irrelevant as it stays contained within the room. A true test should be done with a measurement tool to measure the db’s created through the impact to the concrete. One of these products clearly has substantially less amount of foam per square inch, there is no way you can test this with your ear and say “they are the same, so go with the cheaper one”
I just ordered these from titan. I live in an apartment. I have carpeting in the living room. I'm going to put these down then take a bath towel, fold it in half and put one on top of each pad. To do two things. Protect the pad longer, and help lesson the sound. Should be good to go. I have Cap rubber coated dumbells and will be using olympic bumper plates. 🤔
I believe Pound Pads were designed and with the intention to be used in a CrossFit box, while Titan's niche market is home gym owners. No doubt that the Pound Pads will last longer given that they were designed for commercial use. Hopefully the Titan version will last "long enough" in a lower volume garage gym setting.
Yeah, given price, I think your assessment is correct. You may always find people who want the best of the best regardless of price, but the average home gym owner is going to go with Titan.
Without actually using the pads, I think a lot of the noise is coming from the vinyl. When you pat the pads in the video they're making a sound. It's like they're "drumming." The shock is moving away from impact. What if you placed a piece of 3/4" plywood on top of each pad and dropped the weight. What would happen if it were only the foam pad? This is only curiosity as I don't need to worry about the sound myself.
Yeah i wonder how much quieter they are without the vinyl cover. Can't help but think a cloth like fabric would be quieter and could still be taken off and cleaned
Hipster logo placement. Thanks for the honest review Coop, I know it may be a little difficult siding with the lower cheaper, not the better quality option sometimes but I agree entirely.
Need a low frequency tester, done from a few rooms over. The denser one will have worse travelling bass I imagine, which is the real problem for a lot of people.
Regarding the possibility of the pad denting over time: maybe turning the pads over every once in a while would help increase their longevity? (Y'know, like how mattress manufacturers tell you flip the mattress every few weeks or so.) Love the channel, Mr Coop! Keep up the excellent work and good luck with your gym.

Garage Gym Reviews my mind immediately goes to “Could I just buy a few yards of 12lb carpet pad @ Home Depot, cut it into squares and duct tape them together for less than Titan’s?” But then I remember, I don’t do Oly lifts, just power (but might be good for pulling blocks 🙂)
My Titans are due to arrive today. At $127, I was only looking for additional impact on top of the matting and wasn't worried so much about sound. We'll see.
Just bought the pound pads a few days ago 🤦♂️. Didn’t know about the titan. I might get both and double them up! Or send one back. I imagine I can use them as pulling blocks as I do a lot of oly work off blocks anyways and noise is a big issue for me
just ordered Titan pads... lets see how it goes. I train on pavers and just want something there that is easy to remove and would be able to drop barbell and not break pavers.
It seems like a great deal of the sound actually comes from the clang and rattle of the barbell. I've noticed that a lot of barbells that I have used suffer from this problem. However there are a couple of barbells that I have used that sound a lot more solid when dropped. Do you happen to know what it is about the barbells that cause the clang and rattle versus those that sound more solid when dropped?
I wonder how much of the sound is actually the weights hitting the vinyl cover and if it would be even quieter if there was a thin layer of foam on the outside.
If you want the most affordability you can just get a 3ft x 6ft x 3in sheet of rebond foam and cut it into 2 squares. I think Titan is the more fair price option as you're just paying a little extra for the upholstery and shipping. $400 for a foam pad doesn't make any sense to me.
The denser it is, the more bass it should create... so I think the Titan ones would probably win as far as sound goes, due to the low frequency element. Bass really travels and gets louder as you move away from it (within reason).
So the stuff inside this is just carpet pad on top of each other to form a cushion. Just go out and buy carpet pad and cut it to size and stick on top till it reach the thickness you want it to be.
Thanks for the review. Would you consider doing a D.I.Y. video on crash pads? Products seem simple enough, but you do things well and the video would be cool to watch.
Sound is one thing but the big thing is they reduce/eliminate vibration so the house doesn't shake anymore. I'm guessing titan does the same but just want to point that out.
So I've never used such things for deadlift, and for over head I use bumpers, and for log, I use tires. I'm not really sure I understand the use of these unless your oly lifting.
I was thinking about buying a set of Titan pads for dumbbell work. My 1922 house has a joist floor, so even setting down each dumbbell carefully shakes the whole place.
You should consider getting the Titan Dumbbell Weight Bar Holders for a power cage. If you do, you probably won't need the silencer pads unless you go to failure.
Hoi Coop! Please let me know your quick thoughts about the Rogue Crash version at $250/ pair.....they look nice and high quality. All seem to have the 1 year warranty just not sure on the Titan customer service. Thoughts/recommendations would be greatly appreciated!
I am mainly interested in these for when im training log clean and press. dropping back to the front rack position and then proceeding to roll the weight down my body is really brutalizing my tendonitis.
Here is a question, is the zipper supposed to be on top when you're using those pads? Have a hunch that if you do it other way around (zipper closer to the floor) pads will last longer, since the top part is the one that compresses/deforms the most and if the zipper is on top, it's (impact of weight dropping) going to pull on the zipper more compared to zipper being on top. Just curious.
This one confuses me. It's just a block of foam. Can you not get this stuff for a fraction of the price at home depot or someplace? At least for a home gym where you don't care about appearances and branding.
I live in apartment and have a standing punching bag form fight camp, it has 350 pounds it but socks and slams on the floor when hit. I want to know if you can use any drop pads as a base for the boxing bag do you think it’ll work?
How do they work for hitting a sledgehammer or macebell on them like you did in the intro? I don’t have room for a tire in my garage and I’d like to do sledgehammer work sometimes at night.
I'm thinking of getting these because I have iron plates with adjustable dumbbells. Basically I wanna use them so I can drop the dumbbells on them after each heavier set which I normally don't do unless they're urethane/rubber dumbbells from a gym.
I have both. The Bells of Steel ones get the job done. The Rogue ones are made by AbMat. They’re made in the US and the foam is more firm than the BoS ones. If you plan to use the pads a lot and will put a lot of weight on them, the Rogue/AbMat ones will last longer but we’re talking years here. If you’re deadlifting more than 400 pounds I would say there is noticeable extra sinkage in the Bells of Steel pads so that matters too because you will be lifting from a bigger deficit. The BoS pads have Velcro which to me are a pro and a con. The positive is that they stick together nicely so you can move both pads with one hand. However, they can get caught on your socks and clothes and mess them up. They can also stick to each other when you don’t want them to which is pretty annoying. Lastly, the velcro attract a lot of mess which makes the BoS pads much harder to clean.
Coop, what’s up with the lighting in this video ? It’s like there is a beam of light that goes from the bottom to the top, followed by shadow going from bottom to top. I wanted to ask you if I should buy the rogue echo bike or the schwinn airdyne? whatever the price tag is its fine i just want you unbiased opinion. Thanks for everything you do!
It's carpet padding wrapped in a vinyl sack..... just go buy carpet padding. Home depot you can buy an 8 lb density roll that is 6 feet by 45 feet and 1/2" thick for $140. Cut into 3x3 foot squares that's 30 squares. It will take 6 layers (6 - 3x3 pieces) stacked on top of each other to equal 3" thick. You can essentially make 5 of these for a little bit more than the two cost from Titan..... and without the vinyl coating which makes an, IMO, LOUD slapping noise when it hits... they'll likely be insanely quieter. My opinion..... I don't think plates hitting a rubber flooring is all that loud to begin with. My suggestion though for next time you review a "pound pad" like product.... buy a sound meter to measure the decibels for definitive proof it actually dampens sound. Measure the sound of the plates dropped onto rubber flooring and then on the pads. THAT to me would be an actual review. I mean you seem like a fairly trustworthy guy.... but you're human and we don't know you. Taking your word for it that "they sound the same to me" just seems a bit.... I don't know. Lazy of a review. Love the channel though..... at least when you review stuff I'm interested in buying. Purchasing overpriced pads isn't exactly on my shopping list though...... also - I don't do Oly lifts and just focus on the big 3. I'm not an Olympian so why do clean and jerks and snatches. There's a reason competitive level Olympic lifters generally don't have long competing careers.... oly lifts are murder on your body. And I also find it a bit funny crossfit does them.... the program that claims to be functional. How the hell are oly lifts functional? I digress. Point of my story though.... just get a sound meter next time. And to other viewers..... do you honestly need these? And if you "do" are they really that quiet because to me it sounds like someone walking up to a leather couch and swinging a baseball bat onto the cushion creating a still pretty loud SLAP noise. It just seems you're trading a loud thud from dropping it on rubber flooring for a loud slap. Kind of a lateral move if you ask me.... an EXPENSIVE lateral move at that. Maybe it's just the camera audio not picking up the difference (watch his review of the pound pad and you will see what I mean)...... but that's why I suggest the purchase of a sound meter. You can get one on amazon for like 15-25 bucks.
the carpet idea, to much damn work..all that cutting and pasting to save a few bucks. No. and as far as the using a decibel meter,, joel at asmanyreviewaspossible did a review that use decibel.maybe you need to look it up.
Olympic lifters have a short career because it's just like any other sport. Age 25 is usually the peak in the general athelete. In Olympic lifting you need to be fast fast fast. Unfortunately with age it becomes harder to recover, gains are slower and you slow down. But it's not that hard on the body. Especially compared to other sports.
It has the letters IC XC inscribed on its sides which is a Greek abbreviation for Jesus Christ. It's a reminder for me of what I value most. It's also a great conversation starter.

Hey Coop! you've been a great inspiration to me i just bought $8500 worth of home gym equipment after seeing one of your older videos. I wanted to ask you if I should buy the rogue echo bike or the schwinn airdyne? whatever the price tag is its fine i just want you unbiased opinion. Thanks for everything you do!
I like the Schwinn AD Pro the best, but the best value is the Rogue Echo.
its 200usd now lmao
Titan belt squat next!!!
Ordered!
Very informative. Bare necessities!
Thank you.
I thought the titan pads sounded better!
Buy once, buy right = real economy and value
Are Pound Pads dead lol? I can't find them for sale anywhere. RIP if they are
they look like more expensive rugby/football tackle bags
Song ?
Hey isn’t this the guy who doesn’t workout and just collects equipment?
look how well fitted his shirt is, he clearly works out.
cowmok do I really have to explain the joke here?
Alex Figueroa it’s a joke
Coop is strong as hell. He can hang with some dudes that are way bigger than him i bet
There are vids of him lifting a good amount of weight. Aesthetics and strength are not the same.
Titan now charges $199 for these

What's with the man ring? 😕
It has the letters IC XC inscribed on its sides which is a Greek abbreviation for Jesus Christ. It's a reminder for me of what I value most. It's also a great conversation starter.
@@GarageGymReviews Touche on the conversation starter.. Not my cup of tea, but to each his own.
Looks like Pound Pads went out of business.
can't tell how it sounds cause of the dumb drum roll
At that price and thickness I'll just buy a cheap foam mattress and cut it into pieces
We all know the pound pads can wake up a baby so I would go with titan
Hey! That looks just like carpet pad... Lmfao :-D
