    I love the way that you organize them for home, but you might want to look at adding something like airplay. It's an app that lets you create your own database, I use it to organize my patterns and then have access to the info on the go (which is helpful when you are buying fabric or supplies). I have mine setup with pictures of the front and back envelope as well as the ability to scan the upc to see if I already have that pattern. Plus you get to setup he characteristic you want in your database. It has helped so I don't accidentally buy a pattern twice:)

    I store my patterns the same way, only I use 6"x9" manila envelopes because I can fit them in the bin and lock down the lid with that size envelopes. Great video, you explained the process very clearly.

    I've watched several pattern-organizing videos and yours is the best. It's easy to do. You did a very good job explaining every step. Your voice is pleasant to listen to and your voice volume is good. Thanks for not including loud, distracting music! Great job on your system and on the video!

    thank you for this great idea!!! I have my patterns currently in carts with drawers. its very cumbersome trying to show clients patterns . your technique is very simple yet so professional! I thank God I subscribed to your page. When you ask Him for directions and to order your steps for enlarging your territory.....He does it! Thank you!!

    Thanks for sharing your organization tips. I’m transitioning back from quilting to more apparel sewing and I needed some organizational tips to manage everything. The binders are a great idea.

    I sit and cut out every pattern before storing them away in ziplock bags with the cover and instructions. I think your idea is much better than what I have seen on other video of storing pattern in large envelope with cover taped to front. The binder would let me look through all the styles quickly instead of looking through each dress,pants, or shorts etc to find what I'm looking for with information seen through the back. Also victim of double buying, Great idea!! Not looking forward to cataloging my patterns, dang gone it should have seen something like this years ago.

    • @Stylesewme
      @Stylesewme  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Haha thanks for watching! You can catalog slowly as you go! That's what I did and it was much less stressful.

    One thing I do when I get a new pattern I put on top center front S for stretch , W for woven and B if u can use both. I have several patterns that are similar with out looking at the back most often don’t know if S or W. Sometimes I have a piece of fabric and I’m undecided which pattern I want to use, now with a glance I know if the fabric is pattern friendly I like your system🦩

    I have looked and looked for a storage method. This is genius. You get the feel of being in the fabric store looking through books. That is so relaxing. I am so doing this.

    Yes, yes & yes..I'm a person that needs organization. I've seen another video where she put her patterns in clear plastic envelopes & she'd add any notions she happen to see ( buttons or zipper) that she wanted to use for that pattern inside the envelope. Sooo after seeing your video & hers I'm incorporating both because I'm LOVING your binder idea with the categories....LOVE LOVE LOVE 💞. i need to do this now while i own under 20 patterns 😆😆. TFS! I'm gonna do a video once I'm all setup & link your video in the description box!!

    • @Stylesewme
      @Stylesewme  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      NaturalDane Thank you! That's a great idea about the notions! Wow, I can't tell you how many times I'll buy notions for a particular project, then my sewing mojo switched up on me and I use it for something else. Then, when I'm ready for it, I'm like...where is it?? ooooh yeah! HAHHAHAAH
      20 patterns?!?!?!?! Whooooooo, girl! I'm knocking at a good 100...easily! *hangs head in shame*

    • @SewNaturalDane

      Style Sew Me lol...I'm on my way to building my collect 😆..oh & i forgot to mention the other person also keeps track of the patterns she has on an excel spreadsheet. I'm thinking i may incorporate that too, but we'll see.

    Love your idea. I have a ton of patterns. I have a binder that has a section for current and then vintage patterns for each company. I printed out sheets on my computer that shows the pattern #, size, what the pattern is for and the date of the pattern. I also markdown if a piece is missing, or if I have more than 1 copy. I also photo copied patterns from magazines, etc. and put them in marked envelopes. I only did this for my doll clothes patterns and craft patterns. I like your idea better. This way I would know how much fabric, etc. to buy. I did mine the way I did so that I would know what pattern to buy or not. It's hard to remember if I have the pattern or not.

    I guess if this works for you but separating my patterns from my envelopes is like a bit too much. I did use your ideas for the wishlist on my phone using my notes app and have an app on tablet called the sewing box. I have a beautiful gift box I use to store the envelopes.

    • @Stylesewme
      @Stylesewme  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yep, it works for me because I have to alter my pattern pieces because I'm tall. To accommodate the bulk, I like storing them like this! There are so many storage options to work with everyone's preference.

  • @Simplybyjade
    @Simplybyjade 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    I liked ur storage idea! I'm still a beginner so the only paterns I've got are ones I've made my own. Do you recommend any sites I could buy paterns from for good value?

    • @Stylesewme
      @Stylesewme  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Simply Jade Hi, Jade! Let's see..mccallpattern.mccall.com is where you can find McCall's, Butterick, Vogue, and Kwik Sew patterns. If you sign up for the newsletter they'll notify you of sales. The shipping stinks, but overall it's still better than paying full price. I don't know if Simplicity.com ever runs sales on their site, though. If you're close to a Hancocks or Joann's Fabric stores, they run sales ALL the time. You can check their website for the weekly ad and see the schedule and pricing. It's my favorite way of sale shopping!

    In my old age of 39, lol, I decided I wanted to learn to sew. This is a great idea to keep me organized but do you have tips on how to reuse patterns?

    • @Stylesewme
      @Stylesewme  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I just pull them out of the envelope and use them. If I know that I want to do a lot of alterations to the pattern, then I trace it on to clean paper and keep the original in tact.
