I think Pierce was wrong with his idea of colour glass. Their use of clear glass and colour in the walls was a much better solution. She also is correct, carrying shopping upstairs is a hassle for elderly people.
Totally agree that anyone in their seventies and upwards risks a diminishing level of health, for any number of reasons; including a considerable self-build and change of location, as Derek and Christine. It's prudent to realistically plan ahead. Upside down living just isn't always best for many everyday tasks.
Really a traditional house, for the most part...the owners are happy with the result, which is most important. That being said, you have got to love Pierce for trying his best to expose the owners to options that would allow them to "see the light" and take the design in a different direction. I love his ideas!

But if the people living there are just a pair comfortable old folks pottering through their retirement sewing and listening to music... They want to live the way they want to live. Leave them to that, but maybe help them make it work better by, for example, cutting in a window in the kitchen.
As a roadie in his early career, Derek's perhaps taken one too many risks with his back in the past. At least he knows a thing about materials handling.
I liked their kitchen and sitting room. Both had a sense of calm, freshness and good colour. I'm glad they weren't bullied into things they didn't like by Piers. Compare the smiles on the outing with Kieran to the body language with Piers.

Exactly. They would have been much wiser to have bedrooms and a handicapped accessible bathroom downstairs if either of them ends up with mobility problems. There are such things as dumbwaiters and chair lifts for taking the shopping upstairs or bringing a meal down to the invalid in bed downstairs. That said, my dad designed his stairs with shallow treads and he and his wife could climb them workout assistance into their nineties.

Because the way to live a good long life is to keep your body as strong, healthy and exercised as possible. You don't give up when you have a bad back, you work as hard as you can (without injury) to make it stronger. Stair climbing is good for that. And before anyone slams me ... I'm only a few years younger than this couple, and developed back problems earlier this year. A solid course of exercise, under the eyes of a talented physical therapist, and not only am I climbing stairs with ease, I have a stronger core than ever.
I have watched quite a few of the episodes and in literally each one of them, the planning council gives a huge grief to people. They put things off for unnecessarily long time, or find some other ways to just screw people over. Sad. Derek and Christine did a great job!!
The hippue guy would not listen about LIGHT. Even when the hippie wife said she would like more light in the kitchen. Also as they age - they should have setup 1st and 2nd floor bedroom baths w a butler kitchen (sink / diswasher / minfridge / microwave-toaster oven) upstairs for entertaining.

I'm pretty sure they wanted to build their home the way they wanted and the way they live .I'm seriously getting so annoyed with the Guy telling them how they should have done it .Look at him getting so angry because they didn't .
I think Piers' ideas are very clever and innovative, but possibly might be better suited to younger clients. This couple is in their 70's and may have issues with mobility as the years go by. They never seem to address this. Maybe they could've added the space for a lift In future.
A good compromise on that upstairs wall would have been to put a series of transom style windows across the top of the wall to allow more light in but keep the privacy. Missed opportunity there.

So much tension in this episode. Pierce's frustration was evident. In the end, this is their home. They were very excited to show it off as it was bright and cheerful and just how they wanted it to be, and Pierce came in and after taking credit for the window criticized the rest. Poor taste on the part of Pierce, I'm afraid.
I am 66 and hate to admit it.....there is no fool like an old food. I have yet to meet a couple who are more closed off to new (and brilliant) ideas as much as these fools.
Why did this couple even go on the show? They didn't seem to really want any help or input. Seems like a lost opportunity to not listen to the professionals.
Why not, I built a 3 story house 8 years ago and just turned 75 last April. Climbing those stairs is great exercise, plus we have bought the plots either side to garden. Maybe it's because Derek and I lived similar lives. In 1965 I was the road manager for the Small Faces. I then went into constructing tunnels, travelled the world both on the construction side and then site supervision for a leading Consultant company.

Went in doors made coffee and a banana sandwich, toast and honey for the dogs. Sat outside and admired my work. Aint life tough. Her in doors is still in bed, quite aint it.!!!!!

As far as Derek goes, he was hauling around building materials until the final filmed scene. I hope it's a heal-able injury and he is working on it, and not permanent damage from overdoing things during the build.
Sadly, you did great work for a couple who seem to think they are hip, but aren’t. Your mistake was working with a couple who demonstrated, from the start, that they had no desire to listen to you. The result is a bit disappointing, compared to projects where the builders have listened to you.
I agree with the many commenters who have pointed out that this couple at heart are traditionalists in style, even if they’ve fooled themselves by saying that they are modernists. I’m somewhat surprised that they apparently fooled Piers and Kieran, too, until the end - professionals should be able to pick up those vibes quickly and adapt fast. (Perhaps Piers and Kieran actually did understand the situation off-camera but stuck to the modernist push on camera for the sake of the program’s “drama.”) And although I completely agreed with the proposal to flip the kitchen and dining area upstairs, it was fun to see home builders politely to tell Piers to stuff it. He can cross the line from pushy to bully at times, even to the point of rude condescension. One big failure here on both sides concerned me, however: why the heck didn’t someone plan for a residential elevator? Who would build a new house for an old couple without one? At the very least they should have a modern version of a dumb waiter located somewhere. The couple may not have to haul groceries upstairs, but what about bringing food and drink up to the lounge (or “living room,” as Americans like me would call it) and toiletries, drugs, and clothing up to the bedroom?
I also wonder where the laundry room is in this house? In my home, I have a laundry shoot that sends clothes from the 3rd and 2nd floors down to the bottom level; the issue for me is then to carry all the clean clothes up to the upper floors. A dumb waiter would be an excellent idea!
The location originally approved by planning was not replicated by the builders and they didn't realize until later. I'm not sure about inspection procedures.
People who are unconventional in one area can be incredibly conventional elsewhere. He might be a retired roadie, they might be festival loving hippies, but from their opinions on the first house tour, I could see they are not into modern architecture - or any architecture at all. Then at the end, the flowered sofa, primrose walls and lilac carpeting proved my point. I'm glad they got the house they wanted, and pulled the few modernist ideas that worked for them. Just don't ask me if *I* like their style, because I don't.
Oh my. The look on Piers' face when he gets to the living room and spies the 1970's overstuffed floral couches and matching window valance. It was like he wanted to run from the scene out of fear of being any longer affiliated with the boring house. Derek's coat at the end - some poor maitre d' is looking for his jacket.
Seems like there was no real communication prior to the show as most of the homeowners are open to hearing suggestions from the experts, here it seems like no matter what was suggested was rarely really considered.
At 52 minutes in, look at her expression! This guy (Piers) is so pushy I can't stand it. It's THEIR home, THEIR decision! They are old, and this style makes them happy. STOP pushing when people make it clear they're not buying YOUR ideas...Your ideas are great for someone younger. You're not considering their age, their desires, their tastes, etc. It's NOT about you. Frankly, I love what they've done. I think it's creative and meets their lifestyle and needs. The concluding statement was excellent and true....THEIR own vision. I have watched many of these videos. I always feel relaxed, informed, and pleased for the people who have the abilities to take on these projects. The interviewers are polite, encouraging, and sympathetic when appropriate. This is the first time I have been so upset at the rude treatment this couple received. You have to learn to LISTEN to the client! It's fine to give alternative ideas, but when they say no, have the grace to accept it. Obviously, your ideas are not the best for all people. To think they are is pretty arrogant. You are still young enough that you have no idea what it cost them health wise to do what they did. Applaud them!! One last thing...their choice of furniture in their living room is totally appreciated by anyone over 50. Old bones, and aching muscles appreciate and need soft couches and big pillows...not hard surfaces. Everything changes when you are elderly...absolutely everything. Understanding THAT will help everyone accept their decisions with grace. A side note...having separate spaces to do their different hobbies can be a life saver in marriage. Peace and quiet help the old, frayed nerves hold onto the good times. It's all about understanding, acceptance, and personal priorities. That's what makes it theirs.
Then why even apply to be on the show then? If you want to do thigs your own way, then do it, but why sign up for the show where the whole point of it is to be challenged by an architect to think beyond the box with the intention of not following his advice and doing it the way you want it to? Like that's what I don't understand. They weren't forced at gunpoint to sign up for this show.
@@Kevin-sm8pn It's one thing to consider and/or take their suggestions. It's another thing entirely to be shamed into building their home according to the narrow tastes of someone else. Older people have very different NEEDS than the young. Sometimes the elderly who think young at heart, bite off more than they can chew. Sometimes...often in fact..the young are incapable of understanding what they have never experienced on a daily basis with no end in sight. Absolutely everything changes with age. Maybe in hind sight, it's not the best idea for the elderly to sign up if the pressure to conform is that intense. Remember..this house is their last house. There won't be more time or money to make changes, let alone the health and energy.

I would have placed the dining room and kitchen on the second floor and I agree with the others on a 2 story house for a 70 some year old couple. My wife & I are 60'ish and a 2 story house is out of the question.
Additionally there is no other repeated use of the glass light concept. That living room looks like somthing Hyacinth BUCKET would have her son design.
The reason these people accepted to be included in the show is the pay they received for that. They didn't accept 'modern and clean' ideas, but the public won by stealing ideas. Personally, I don't care about their style, but happy about fruitful ideas.

It's business. These people, that accepted to be in the show, are paid. Network is presenting the ideas to public and attracts viewers. And public is winning new ideas. Win-win situation.
I get the idea, but the presentation could be more interesting to the viewer when the content is flowing and says a meaningful story rather than a time waster,... it is just another viewer's opinion 🤔

As an aging couple, no 2 stories, especially with this guy and his back already! Like other people have said, they go on about how they are all quirky & hippies the 60's, but they aren't really quirky, except for his earring, lmao...they proceeded to build an old fuddy duddy house, which is what they like. I like a lot of Piers ideas, EXCEPT the colored plastic all the time. Ugh. That will age horribly.
I personally like to mix the modern interior with the traditional house interior & furnishings. The Swedish architects house is my view of a great house interior. Most engineers are introverts and his wife was an introvert or a person that relaxes and recharges alone. I am an introvert and so is my wife. In the evening we need our separation time. Separation time needs walls or at least a fish bowl for each of us. In our house, an old farm house, I have installed multi-paned glass intsrior doors to allow extra light into the rooms, create noise separation, while affording long lines of sight. They are really folding glass doors that I cut to the size of our existing door jams with a fine carbide circular saw. The fine or just outside of fine carbide blade creates an extremely smooth and clean cut very similar to a planed surface without the lengthy time consuming plane time. Nothing in our house is standard measurement so you have to cut it to size regardless. I would have installed the glass stairwell wall entirely across the house and then added large French doors in the hall area or clear according type doors. To add more seclusion one could use a bronzed polycarb or a bronzed glass but this would possibly reduce the line of sight perception. It would add seclusion while maintaining the houses open concept. Pierces ideas conflicted with the builders personalities and emotional makeup and the builders had trouble thinking out of the box to resolve the conflict between seclusion and open/light needs of the design. After all, the owners have to feel comfortable living in the house. It has to meet both their emotional and physical needs. Not a bad house design. After thought is always 100% accurate.
I'm going to take an educated guess that modern for this couple really meant, new, low maintenance and cost etc. Can't help but feel with their choice of design they have swopped low maintenance for high maintenance, their heart and lungs, hips and knees. Great architectural advice ignored sadly, still they're the owners and they got what they wanted, we all have opinions. Sadly nothing inspiring in this episode.

Actually, I think that the house exactly does fit their personality. Just because you were alive during the 60s and early 70s doesn’t mean that you were a “hippie.”. I lived in San Francisco during that time - perhaps the epicenter of hippiedom - and I can tell you that a very small percentage of people were actually hippies. Some people today feel that there is a certain cache in identifying as a hippie…
Well you can see by how stubborn these two are why he wasn't more successful professionally. Was she is manager or booking agent? It borders on dishonesty to agree with a plan to then revert to the original plans without even communicating that to the show runners who are filming your process. People like this annoy me. It was nice of the show to try to help them but they are super annoying and unreliable.
If I were those two I'd grab that little arm flailing pansy snot by the scruff of the neck and introduce him to the hedges out front. It's their house, nobody else's, it's their money, nobody else's, they started with their plan that they liked and that's what they're doing.....and that's nobody else's decision except theirs.
It's obvious to me she didn't like being called out on her poor architectural choices and was determined to dig in regardless of the free expertise of proven professionals. Their loss.
Boring house with high ceilings that unless you have a lot of money to hire people to clean and repaint them in the future you've made a mistake. Also, heating a home with high ceilings just isn't sensible for your wallet. The show is giving us more and more modern, stark looking homes that I just wouldn't ever consider. Its probably time for me to unsubscribe.

I can't argue with the idea that they bucked modern trends, but I loved these 2 and hope they have been very happy in their home.

This is an excellent programme, in this episode great suggestions. But very difficult with clients with stubborn and much less great plans.
Every decade after fifty gets harder. Carrying groceries up those steps will become more of a challenge with advancing age.

I am a Brit in Miami Beach, nearly 79 and to get into my flat I have 47 steps up, I drag my shops up in my trolley, but believe me it’s modern !

What was once the rebellious generation quite often ends up later to be at the lower end of mediocrity - just like this couple!

I'm pretty sure they wanted to build their home the way they wanted and the way they live .I'm seriously getting so annoyed with the Guy telling them how they should have done it .Look at him getting so angry because they didn't .
I think Piers' ideas are very clever and innovative, but possibly might be better suited to younger clients. This couple is in their 70's and may have issues with mobility as the years go by. They never seem to address this. Maybe they could've added the space for a lift In future.

A good compromise on that upstairs wall would have been to put a series of transom style windows across the top of the wall to allow more light in but keep the privacy. Missed opportunity there.

The house is their's and should be constructed as they wish. It truly feels that Piers and Keren are trying to bully them into their way of thinking.
I feel bad for the architect, trying to convince a pair of boomers that their ideas are not the best that can be.
I am 58 years old and this house look like it's in the sixties why spend all that money or something new when you could have just went ahead and bought something old
Old and conventional is expensive. New cost them a bit over their limit. Besides, they got paid for being in the show.
So much tension in this episode. Pierce's frustration was evident. In the end, this is their home. They were very excited to show it off as it was bright and cheerful and just how they wanted it to be, and Pierce came in and after taking credit for the window criticized the rest. Poor taste on the part of Pierce, I'm afraid.
I am 66 and hate to admit it.....there is no fool like an old food. I have yet to meet a couple who are more closed off to new (and brilliant) ideas as much as these fools.
Why did this couple even go on the show? They didn't seem to really want any help or input. Seems like a lost opportunity to not listen to the professionals.

Why not, I built a 3 story house 8 years ago and just turned 75 last April. Climbing those stairs is great exercise, plus we have bought the plots either side to garden.
Maybe it's because Derek and I lived similar lives. In 1965 I was the road manager for the Small Faces. I then went into constructing tunnels, travelled the world both on the construction side and then site supervision for a leading Consultant company.

@@sahlaamorris3180Up at 5.30m this morning took the dogs for a run. Dug 4 barrow loads of top soil out of the field and humped up the banana plants. Moved two barrows of wood ash and fed the bananas. Went in doors made coffee and a banana sandwich, toast and honey for the dogs. Sat outside and admired my work. Aint life tough.

Agree, this is their house not those people who boast their strong at 70ish and can climb stairs blah blah blah. People look at the old man now walking with cane and an injured back he obviously know his health more than anyone.

As far as Derek goes, he was hauling around building materials until the final filmed scene. I hope it's a heal-able injury and he is working on it, and not permanent damage from overdoing things during the build.
Sadly, you did great work for a couple who seem to think they are hip, but aren’t. Your mistake was working with a couple who demonstrated, from the start, that they had no desire to listen to you. The result is a bit disappointing, compared to projects where the builders have listened to you.
This couple got their pay for the show, and we won new, fabulous ideas. Win-win situation. :)
I agree with the many commenters who have pointed out that this couple at heart are traditionalists in style, even if they’ve fooled themselves by saying that they are modernists. I’m somewhat surprised that they apparently fooled Piers and Kieran, too, until the end - professionals should be able to pick up those vibes quickly and adapt fast. (Perhaps Piers and Kieran actually did understand the situation off-camera but stuck to the modernist push on camera for the sake of the program’s “drama.”) And although I completely agreed with the proposal to flip the kitchen and dining area upstairs, it was fun to see home builders politely to tell Piers to stuff it. He can cross the line from pushy to bully at times, even to the point of rude condescension.
One big failure here on both sides concerned me, however: why the heck didn’t someone plan for a residential elevator? Who would build a new house for an old couple without one? At the very least they should have a modern version of a dumb waiter located somewhere. The couple may not have to haul groceries upstairs, but what about bringing food and drink up to the lounge (or “living room,” as Americans like me would call it) and toiletries, drugs, and clothing up to the bedroom?
I also wonder where the laundry room is in this house? In my home, I have a laundry shoot that sends clothes from the 3rd and 2nd floors down to the bottom level; the issue for me is then to carry all the clean clothes up to the upper floors. A dumb waiter would be an excellent idea!
In the U.S. the planning powers would sign off on the house location before construction could begin. Too many tea breaks I believe.
The location originally approved by planning was not replicated by the builders and they didn't realize until later. I'm not sure about inspection procedures.
People who are unconventional in one area can be incredibly conventional elsewhere. He might be a retired roadie, they might be festival loving hippies, but from their opinions on the first house tour, I could see they are not into modern architecture - or any architecture at all. Then at the end, the flowered sofa, primrose walls and lilac carpeting proved my point.
I'm glad they got the house they wanted, and pulled the few modernist ideas that worked for them. Just don't ask me if *I* like their style, because I don't.

Oh my. The look on Piers' face when he gets to the living room and spies the 1970's overstuffed floral couches and matching window valance. It was like he wanted to run from the scene out of fear of being any longer affiliated with the boring house. Derek's coat at the end - some poor maitre d' is looking for his jacket.
I have never agreed with Pearse on anything until this episode, having the living room up and the kitchen down is just bonkers

Seems like there was no real communication prior to the show as most of the homeowners are open to hearing suggestions from the experts, here it seems like no matter what was suggested was rarely really considered.

At 52 minutes in, look at her expression! This guy (Piers) is so pushy I can't stand it. It's THEIR home, THEIR decision! They are old, and this style makes them happy. STOP pushing when people make it clear they're not buying YOUR ideas...Your ideas are great for someone younger. You're not considering their age, their desires, their tastes, etc. It's NOT about you. Frankly, I love what they've done. I think it's creative and meets their lifestyle and needs. The concluding statement was excellent and true....THEIR own vision. I have watched many of these videos. I always feel relaxed, informed, and pleased for the people who have the abilities to take on these projects. The interviewers are polite, encouraging, and sympathetic when appropriate. This is the first time I have been so upset at the rude treatment this couple received. You have to learn to LISTEN to the client! It's fine to give alternative ideas, but when they say no, have the grace to accept it. Obviously, your ideas are not the best for all people. To think they are is pretty arrogant. You are still young enough that you have no idea what it cost them health wise to do what they did. Applaud them!! One last thing...their choice of furniture in their living room is totally appreciated by anyone over 50. Old bones, and aching muscles appreciate and need soft couches and big pillows...not hard surfaces. Everything changes when you are elderly...absolutely everything. Understanding THAT will help everyone accept their decisions with grace. A side note...having separate spaces to do their different hobbies can be a life saver in marriage. Peace and quiet help the old, frayed nerves hold onto the good times. It's all about understanding, acceptance, and personal priorities. That's what makes it theirs.
Then why even apply to be on the show then? If you want to do thigs your own way, then do it, but why sign up for the show where the whole point of it is to be challenged by an architect to think beyond the box with the intention of not following his advice and doing it the way you want it to? Like that's what I don't understand. They weren't forced at gunpoint to sign up for this show.
@@Kevin-sm8pn It's one thing to consider and/or take their suggestions. It's another thing entirely to be shamed into building their home according to the narrow tastes of someone else. Older people have very different NEEDS than the young. Sometimes the elderly who think young at heart, bite off more than they can chew. Sometimes...often in fact..the young are incapable of understanding what they have never experienced on a daily basis with no end in sight. Absolutely everything changes with age. Maybe in hind sight, it's not the best idea for the elderly to sign up if the pressure to conform is that intense. Remember..this house is their last house. There won't be more time or money to make changes, let alone the health and energy.
@@graceandglory1948 There have been other older people on the show though who were happy to take his suggestions, specifically Sue and Tim. I don't think it has to do with age. The problem is the couple was simply stuck in their ways and stubborn and refused to be open-minded. I still don't understand why they applied to be on the show.

I would have placed the dining room and kitchen on the second floor and I agree with the others on a 2 story house for a 70 some year old couple. My wife & I are 60'ish and a 2 story house is out of the question.

There wasn't much sense in that glass on the stairs. It doesn't borrow any light from an open-plan upstairs.
Additionally there is no other repeated use of the glass light concept. That living room looks like somthing Hyacinth BUCKET would have her son design.
The reason these people accepted to be included in the show is the pay they received for that. They didn't accept 'modern and clean' ideas, but the public won by stealing ideas. Personally, I don't care about their style, but happy about fruitful ideas.
What a waste… Having to walk up and down from the Livingroom to the Kitchen… what were they thinking? And to have a Bedroom and Livingroom together is definitely a big No-no…

Kieran and Piers, why do you invest your time and inspirational ideas with the people who does want to do things their own traditional way?
It's business. These people, that accepted to be in the show, are paid. Network is presenting the ideas to public and attracts viewers. And public is winning new ideas. Win-win situation.
I get the idea, but the presentation could be more interesting to the viewer when the content is flowing and says a meaningful story rather than a time waster,... it is just another viewer's opinion 🤔
@@malgaa3655 I agree. But it's the 'actors' doing. They only wanted the money, but not the ideas. They only made a little bit of compromise. However, we got some new ideas of materials and how things could've been so much more interesting. If not in reality, at least imaginary. I still learnt some new things though. :)
As an aging couple, no 2 stories, especially with this guy and his back already! Like other people have said, they go on about how they are all quirky & hippies the 60's, but they aren't really quirky, except for his earring, lmao...they proceeded to build an old fuddy duddy house, which is what they like. I like a lot of Piers ideas, EXCEPT the colored plastic all the time. Ugh. That will age horribly.

I personally like to mix the modern interior with the traditional house interior & furnishings. The Swedish architects house is my view of a great house interior. Most engineers are introverts and his wife was an introvert or a person that relaxes and recharges alone. I am an introvert and so is my wife. In the evening we need our separation time. Separation time needs walls or at least a fish bowl for each of us. In our house, an old farm house, I have installed multi-paned glass intsrior doors to allow extra light into the rooms, create noise separation, while affording long lines of sight. They are really folding glass doors that I cut to the size of our existing door jams with a fine carbide circular saw. The fine or just outside of fine carbide blade creates an extremely smooth and clean cut very similar to a planed surface without the lengthy time consuming plane time. Nothing in our house is standard measurement so you have to cut it to size regardless. I would have installed the glass stairwell wall entirely across the house and then added large French doors in the hall area or clear according type doors. To add more seclusion one could use a bronzed polycarb or a bronzed glass but this would possibly reduce the line of sight perception. It would add seclusion while maintaining the houses open concept. Pierces ideas conflicted with the builders personalities and emotional makeup and the builders had trouble thinking out of the box to resolve the conflict between seclusion and open/light needs of the design. After all, the owners have to feel comfortable living in the house. It has to meet both their emotional and physical needs. Not a bad house design. After thought is always 100% accurate.

I'm going to take an educated guess that modern for this couple really meant, new, low maintenance and cost etc. Can't help but feel with their choice of design they have swopped low maintenance for high maintenance, their heart and lungs, hips and knees. Great architectural advice ignored sadly, still they're the owners and they got what they wanted, we all have opinions. Sadly nothing inspiring in this episode.
Personally, I've got Kieran & Piers' new ideas from this episode, and I'm really grateful for them. :)

I don't think either of them should have been so judgemental and harsh with this couple. They wanted what they wanted and that is it. Just because it isn't their ideal, doesn't mean it doesn't suit them. Ridiculous!

Actually, I think that the house exactly does fit their personality. Just because you were alive during the 60s and early 70s doesn’t mean that you were a “hippie.”. I lived in San Francisco during that time - perhaps the epicenter of hippiedom - and I can tell you that a very small percentage of people were actually hippies. Some people today feel that there is a certain cache in identifying as a hippie…

Well you can see by how stubborn these two are why he wasn't more successful professionally. Was she is manager or booking agent? It borders on dishonesty to agree with a plan to then revert to the original plans without even communicating that to the show runners who are filming your process. People like this annoy me. It was nice of the show to try to help them but they are super annoying and unreliable.
These people had no interest in Architectural input.
If I were those two I'd grab that little arm flailing pansy snot by the scruff of the neck and introduce him to the hedges out front. It's their house, nobody else's, it's their money, nobody else's, they started with their plan that they liked and that's what they're doing.....and that's nobody else's decision except theirs.
Then they should have buggered off the show.
It's obvious to me she didn't like being called out on her poor architectural choices and was determined to dig in regardless of the free expertise of proven professionals. Their loss.
I actually stopped watching at the floor plan reveal. Just not functional on any level.
Publically destroying what they accomplished is not entertainment.

Boring house with high ceilings that unless you have a lot of money to hire people to clean and repaint them in the future you've made a mistake. Also, heating a home with high ceilings just isn't sensible for your wallet.
The show is giving us more and more modern, stark looking homes that I just wouldn't ever consider. Its probably time for me to unsubscribe.
