How do you do that!? You can easily teach your horse to side pass on the ground!!

Have you ever wondered how to get your horse to side pass over a log or just side pass?
When you break it down into an easy step by step process you can achieve your goals quickly.
First you want to be sure that you have a cue to move your horses shoulders (front end) and hips (back end).
Next, you want to practice moving each part (shoulders or hips) just one step, then getting your horse to stop.
Then, you want to practice moving your horse’s shoulders one step, then your horse's hip one step, and stop. Practice this a couple times. As your horse begins to anticipate the next move they will start to side pass on their own.
Once you can get your horse to side pass, then you can start using a pole for them to step over. You want to position your horse with the pole at the back cinch of your saddle. This will help them to not hit the pole as easily. Then you start with just one step at a time. Front end and stop, back end and stop, front end and stop.
Your stops are very important. This will help your horse to realize they are doing what you want. This will ultimately get them to try harder for you. This will also get you faster results if you are rewarding and resting your horse at the correct time.
