    Check out my initial unboxing and first look of the HBX Dune Thunder here: • The Ultimate HBX Survi...
    In this initial speed run and first run it managed to do a top speed of 25 kmph which nearly equals 16 mph. I have seen a few other speed runs with it doing 17 mph and 27 kmph, and I have another Survivor based truck that does 26 kmph. But pretty close to what others have measured it to.
    Two things comes to my mind when looking at the HBX 12891 Dune Thunder. The body is very similar to the HBX Thruster and it is based on an HBX Survivor Chassis with a mid motor placement. Not bad things.
    Anyhow, after the unboxing and first look, speed testing, running and jumping it, there are certain pros and cons, after taking the low entry-level price (Under 100$) into consideration:
    Advantages:
    - Compact size
    - Good entry-level speed
    - 6 x LED Lights
    - Metal Gears/Differential
    - Ball Bearings
    - Oil Filled Shocks (hydraulic shock absorbers)
    - Well working double wishbone suspension
    - Large All Terrain Tires
    - 2.4 GHz Radio
    Disadvantages:
    - Wheels are mounted with Phillips Head Screws into Plastic Wheel Axles (Less durable?)
    - Built-in Receiver and 5-wire servo (less compatible with standard hobby-grade electronics?)
    - Sensitive Steering (Too sensitive!)
    - Durability of the Li-Ion batteries?
    - Parts supply in the future?
    Check out my channel for many more radio-controlled models from HBX, Tamiya, Traxxas, WLToys and other brands.
    In my channel you can also find videos with the 2-speed HBX Thruster with the similar body. Comparison videos with the HBX Dune Thunder, the standard HBX Survivor and the HBX Thruster are coming up in the nearby future!

    Very nice jumps and lovely slow motion! Looks like the shocks are better than 90% of the china car shocks out there. 👌

    • @NordicRC
      @NordicRC  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, they work real smooth. Look a lot like the Tamiya CVAs :-) And the car is nicely balanced for jumps, with a mid-motor and battery saddle-packs. The ball bearings, oil shocks and LED lights makes this little one stand out. Still a built-in-receiver in the ESC and a five-wire servo though. Thanks for watching and the support, Charlie!

    Nordic RC Visions - considering all the pros & cons this still seems to come out as a great entry-level buggy/truck - good mix of specifications, handling and speed. The little truck looks to jump and land flat (most of the time!) and those CVAs soak up landings on hard surfaces well. Not too much to complain about really at the asking price! Well presented and edited as per, my friend :-)

      Mark Bryan RC Thanks Mark! Yeah, you summed it all up very nicely. The oil shocks, ball bearings and LEDs are definitly a bonus at this price and it was very enjoyable to run with this speed and these shocks at this location. Thanks for watching, my friend.

      Mygrowbug Thanks! Yeah for it’s price I’m pretty excited about the oil filled shocks, ball bearings, LED lights etc. Not too excited about other things (check description box) but overall, for it’s price, plenty of fun and cool features :-)

    Hello! What is the inventory quality of the car? I know you don't expect much for the price, but what about the electronic equipment, electronic control system, servo system, differential pinion, and steering arm? Are they durable? How long have you been in the shopping cart? Do you recommend buying? Regards!

    • @NordicRC
      @NordicRC  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      How long I have been in the shopping cart??? :-) Not sure I would like to be there. My overall experience with these one are very good. It's the same car as the Survivor, Protector etc. Holds up good (but don't expect Traxxas/Arrma quality if you go out bashing). It's a good reliable runner.

    • @NordicRC

      Still NiCads around here and there. Not in HBX though.

  • @davidrenaldo9429

    What was the top speed and how long did it run on a charge

    • @NordicRC
      @NordicRC  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Isn’t there a speed test in this video? The batteries last according to how you drive it. But run time is good with a light 1/12 and a 380/390 motor.

  • @davidrenaldo9429
    @davidrenaldo9429 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Ya I really like this rig but not happy with the 16 mph

    • @NordicRC
      @NordicRC  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      David Renaldo It’s a good speed for this I think. But yes, definitely not super fast. HBX has some other brushless trucks that go a lot faster. Check out Banggood or eBay.

  • @davidrenaldo9429
    @davidrenaldo9429 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    One more dumb ? Do you have an upgrade video and are there after mar parts for this. See Are used to race back in the day when the JRX2 first came out now I have two young stepchildren and I’m looking for something that I can buy and run yard stop with them I want some halfway decent I don’t want to freaking Walmart special with something that I can upgrade

    • @NordicRC
      @NordicRC  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      No, no upgrade video. There are a few parts like universal metal axles and such I think. I think the chassis is made for the 380/390 motor, but you can of course go with a motor with higher RPM. But to do that you need to switch out the entire electronics. But with speed comes crashes and more serious crashes. These are excellent entry-level models or just good runners. Both my son (5-year-old) and I have a Protector.

  • @BasBoyRC
    @BasBoyRC 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Goes well, but the body seems a little bit of all the others :-)

    • @NordicRC
      @NordicRC  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Runs real smooth for the price and an entry-level. Kinda like the body. But yeah, nothing really really special. The HBX Thruster actually use the exact same body, cut a little different :-)

    Why is yours so slow? This RC is capable of doing 20+ mph

    • @NordicRC
      @NordicRC  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      All the speed runs I have seen on reliable channels hit sonewhere around this speed measured in the video. But maybe yours are faster than ours ☺️
