    The inclusion of exif is really great, makes all handling and post-processing so much easier!

    I use super wide angle lenses a lot, and small lenses are the great advantage of M43 that is the main reason I use the system, so I've just ordered it

    Peter thanks for the video! It’s so great that Venus produce these lenses for MFT. I have the 10mm and I am super lucky with the lens, it’s very well build, compact and extrem sharp! And in combination with my GX800/880 it represents the reason why I love the MFT system: I take it with me without thinking about size and weight and do I really wanna carry that fat camera with me… Into the pocket and let’s go… ! 👍😊

    Thanks for confirming what others have said--this looks like a winner. There are times when even my Leica 8-18 isn't quite as wide as I'd like (107° @ 8mm). I'd considered the Laowa 7.5mm, but another 3° of AoV isn't enough for me to justify carrying another lens (and neither the Oly not Lumix 7-14s have filter threads--a must-have for me). Nearly 15° is, and the Laowa's minimum focusing distance will enable some interesting shots. I just used your link to purchase it.

    Thank you for the review, Peter !
    It's very useful that you tested the sunstars. Nice to have a lens which produces pleasant sunstars.

    Thanks. What impresses me most is the Zero-D. As you point out, the Zero-D lenses are not 100% free of barrel distortion, but they are way, way better than the Olympus and Panasonic wide angles. It's seems Laowa has a different design philosophy! Have to check the 6mm out and see how the corners are when it's stopped down.

    I am seriosuly considering the panasonic 9mm f1.7, until the news on this lens. as panasonic has closed their camera department in my country, many shops has stop carrying panasonic camera and lens.
    in my region, we do not have long summer day, and short winter nights. so most of the time, i will shoot in the evening or even night. only on occasional weekend where i could shoot in the day due to family commitment. therefore i reckon a fast ultra wide would be useful.

    How accurate was the distance scale? The copy of the 7.5mm f/2 electronic contacts version that I have is rather inaccurate and even has its minimum focus distance at .13m rather than .12m. I did not have this problem with my friend's copy of the fully manual 7.5mm f/2.

      It is hard to say. The focusing is not an issue, because of the large dof.

    Hi Peter. An interesting lens and one I will consider getting. Any news on the upcoming 90mm macro lens?

    • @ForsgardPeter
      @ForsgardPeter  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have not heard anything about the 90mm Macro lens after the announcement.

    At the bottom of the lens right near the camera mount there is a micro USB port. Why?

    What you don't say is that this is NOT the widest lens for MFT. The OM 8mm F1.8 Fisheye lens de-fished is considerably wider, probably around 5mm equivalent. Wish I would have know this when I bought this lens. The resolution between the two lens is very close but the Loawa has more contrast. This can be good or bad. With the same exposure, the OM 8mm FE allowed me to see much better into the shadow areas and created more even lighting. The fact that the OM1 can allow you to view the EVF/Back Panel with the 8mm de-fished makes it very versatile.

      The de-fish feature is great. I would still get this over 8mm f1.8 unless I need a fish-eye.

    I have the cine version. Any insight as to why this photo version in $200 cheaper?

    • @ForsgardPeter
      @ForsgardPeter  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      There is a saying: ordinary gaffers tape is cheap, "photography" gaffers tape is expensive and gaffers tape for "cinema# use is really expensive. Maybe that is the reason.

    Is it out in the US?

    • @ForsgardPeter
      @ForsgardPeter  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Most likely not yet. B&H does only list the Cine version of the lens.

      If you've yet to purchase it, I just use Peter's link to Venus and I'm in the US. I've yet to receive shipping details (it's Saturday, so I'd hope to see something by Monday) but B&H has it listed as "New item - coming soon" (and neither Adorama nor Amazon list it at this point). I'm expecting that Venus will be able to deliver it before any third-part sellers.

    I have 7.5mm f2.0..... hard to justify the 6mm.

      I agree that if you have the 7.5mm you do not need the 6mm lens.
