I feel exactly the same way. Been waiting since this system came out and now with juggernaut being on the brotherhood affiliation it feels like atomic mass really knows how to keep people hyped year round (im also excited to see carnage for spider foes)
You all prolly dont care but does anyone know of a way to get back into an instagram account?? I somehow lost my account password. I appreciate any help you can offer me.
@Jericho Kayson thanks for your reply. I found the site thru google and I'm in the hacking process atm. I see it takes quite some time so I will get back to you later with my results.
Well I’ve been out of town so I didn’t have my card on hand, but indeed Brian is correct. The crisis card does say if the warehouse is empty to remove it.
Thank you for a good and fun battle report! Close call! Just to point out Dylan got an extra point from you in the cleanup phase of round two...3+2 is not 6 :P. Keep up the great work!
So with Magneto, there is a huge swing in how critical terrain is. The placement of this terrain 100% favored Magneto and his ability to throw multiple times and all sizes. There were no buildings (non interactive terrain) in this match to help. It seems unfair to allow a board to be set up that favors one team so much.
Hi Trent, this reply ended up being a bit long, but I wanted to fully explain my thought process when building this board. All of the terrain placements were set up according to AMG’s guidelines and the different sizes of terrain were pretty well interspersed across the table. Magneto did manage to throw 2 size 3 terrain pieces and one size 4 as far as the larger terrain goes, (if I remember correctly) but he was also in 2 of the 4 quarters of the board. AMG recommends 12-20 terrain pieces of which we used 18. 2-4 size 1, we used 6 3-6 size 2, we used 6 3-6 size 3, we used 4 1-2 size 4, we used 2 0-1 size 5, we used 0 We did go a bit higher on the size 1 terrain to help fill out the board to make it look good, so if we remove say 4 of the size 1 terrain pieces that didn’t make much of an impact throughout the game we would have been closer to the low end of that 12-20 recommend terrain pieces. If we had removed a size 4 piece of terrain to add a size 5 terrain feature which would be a fair swap out, then I would have just deployed Magneto on the side of the board with the large piece of terrain he could interact with. With all of that in mind what would you recommend doing differently?
@@TheGamersGuild - Yeah, it’s a sticky issue, IMO. So there is setting up as per guidelines and then setting up to give yourself an advantage. I’m not suggesting YOU did this, but I’m stating that Magneto changes the playing field a fair bit, or at least calls attention to the setup rules more than most. I field Asgardians a lot and feel almost bad when I put size 4 terrain in the middle of the battlefield, for example, because that will often favour me over an opponent. Personally, when I set up, I place some size 5 non-interactive terrain (buildings) on the board but I’ve taken care to keep a nice ‘clean’ lane in the middle of the field. I feel that favours neither side. That ‘clean’ lane can have some size 2 and 1 terrain and maybe a size 3. The majority of size 3 and 4 goes on the left and right flank of the board. I find that the middle ‘lane’ often sees the most action and it’s only fair to both sides if that lane favours neither side. In general tho, I think most of us play casual games. So going forward, how do we approach a board setup that we don’t like? Typically, my local community just has one player setup the map first with all their terrain. I’m not always convinced that my opponent sets up with fairness in mind, so now if they setup no size 5 and a ton of everything else, and they plan to field Magneto, I feel like I have to ‘argue’ with them on the terrain placement. The rule book says a minimum of 12 interactive pieces...am I allowed to restrict games to the minimum? I feel that it’s created a bit of an awkward situation with players. This is not entirely a new situation, but I feel that Magneto highlights it quite a bit.
While Magneto does shake up the terrain game I do think that Thor, as you have already hinted at, shook it up a bit first by being the first reliable size 4 terrain throw in the game. I personally think AMG’s guidelines for terrain set up are nearly perfect and 15-16 pieces of terrain is what you should shoot for. If you deliberately set up a table where there is no size 4 terrain, or it is purposefully kept to the side or back of a table then you are disadvantaging any character who can interact with those terrain features like Magneto, Thor, Ebony Maw and so on because a decent bit of their threat value is in that they are able to throw these large chunks of metal or stone at the enemy. So a size 4 terrain piece placed in the dead center of the board I think is something to at least try. On a mission like Gamma Waves it creates a really interesting LOS problems for both players to deal with, and sure it will allow one big throw of a size 4 throw is brought, but then if you play Extremis consoles instead that size 4 terrain piece doesn’t become nearly as impactful, and it makes crisis selection that much more interesting and meaningful. So in short: I think you limiting the terrain to the minimum when you are playing against a brotherhood roster is the equivalent of a brotherhood player trying to set up the maximum amount of terrain. There should be a decent balance of sizes of terrain and a balance of where they are placed on the board. So if you have 4 size 3 terrain pieces try to have 1 in each table quarter and so on. This topic is a really good one, and may see a video dedicated to it sooner than later so thank you for presenting it so well.
I would still recommend the core set just because it offers so much for its price point, and there is a pretty good secondary market for the core minis, especially the heroes as people enjoy getting to paint alternate schemes and costumes on them.
Kind of. The files I have were already split into multiple body parts (arm, hand, leg, torso, etc) so I just printed them into the print bed so they they would lay flat on the table.
Thanks Daniel, the mat is a double sided neoprene one from gale force. I would provide a link but it may be out of commission at this point unfortunately.
A copy paste reply. “Oh hmm I use the pro acryl line by monument paints, base coat with light umber then light light light coats of yellow ochre highlights with yellow”
Ok. I absolutely do not understand when Beast throws Valkyrie into Toad but stops at Beast. You ignore Beast for collisions. She moves straight over Beast and touches Toad. The way you did it makes absolutely no sense whatsoever.
Hey Matthew, characters who are preforming a throw ignore themselves concerning the path of the throw character. On AMG’s digital rulebook it is on page 17, second column, second paragraph. So the collision will then happen between Valkyrie and Toad, but because Valkyrie’s base can’t fit at the point of contact she has to be moved to her last legal position from the throw.
It has been asked and clarified by Pagani on Facebook, but you can also now ask on their official rules forum and usually get an answer about it within a day.
Ugh Im so jealous of your sentinel terrain. lol Awesome battle report as always.
