    The fact that this was gonna be a street driven car for occasional track use and is now a full blown track build that is deafening to be in and wildly impractical to drive anywhere but on a circuit, is massively relatable to anyone who's ever had a project car, truly a man of the people

    Oh yeah, it's all coming together.
    You look absolutely stoked and I don't blame you one bit. Even at low speeds the car sounds like a bonafide race car on the interior. Can't wait to see this thing tear around BW. Just make sure you do a thorough nut and bolt check first!

    I've been watching since forever and got to see it at last year's SEMA show. Wow...just Wow. Good luck at Willow and may your difficulties all be minor!! For testing, I'd suggest a camera or two in the engine compartment so someone can yell if a line comes loose or blows and you get warning quickly enough to shut it down before something terminal occurs. Good luck!!

    I wouldn't miss this next episode for nothing.
    Excited for ya, been following for 2yrs
    Also, ...cantilever suspension ??? Maybe a future project? Or that Porsche 928 suspension tech. I forgot what it's called. Self adjusting linkage of some kind.

  • @thebearman6065
    @thebearman6065 ปีที่แล้ว

    Absolutely love this build!! Just a thought from watching other car TH-camrs, that belt cover could quickly become a thorn in your side if the belt slips off. Cutting some large holes in the sheet aluminum and riveting plexiglass to it could be helpful for diagnosing future no-start problems!

  • @Ericlikestorun
    @Ericlikestorun ปีที่แล้ว

    Hey mike, can't remember if you've covered it already, what are you doing for front brake ducting? At Strom It was common for us to put rack limit spacers on cars to not kill brake ducts. That could help reduce chances the tire contacting the fender too. The decrease in Turning radius wasn't an issue at the track, didn't really notice they were there till moving cars around at the shop.

    My two favourite Ferraris are the F40 after the 308 GTB/S. (I loved Magnum P.I. as a kid).
    This is quite possibly the finest 308 I have ever seen. I love it. From the amazing colour, wheels and arches to the choice of a possible daily driver engine (I had a K24 in my Accord type S (Acura RSX in N.A) and even NA trim it's a peach of an engine.
    Kudos dude. It's friggin amazing!!!

  • @Viking8888
    @Viking8888 ปีที่แล้ว

    The 288 GTO is (in my opinion) the sweetest Ferrari ever made, but you just can't turn away from a 308. The styling is just gorgeous and timeless, but the stock stance wasn't great, that's (one of the reasons) why I like yours. Low pro tires and low to the ground!

  • @williamb5484

    Are you sure replacing the bump stops with a solid puck thing is a good idea? With what little I know about downforce cars, I thought that changing durometer of the BS bushing was a pretty big part of suspension tuning because they tend to sit on them at full load.

  • @MSWracing
    @MSWracing ปีที่แล้ว

  • @michielvandorsser7691
    @michielvandorsser7691 ปีที่แล้ว

    Awsome project. Sounds pretty good coming down the street. Looks like it needs some allignment though. ( steering wheel looked a bit off going straight ) Have a look at that before you hit the track. ( your tires will tell the story to after a couple of laps driven in anger ) Can't wait to hear this going go full beans. Good luck and enjoy!

    Personally, I love this build. I'm a Ferrari and Honda fan- love Ferrari's artistic beauty and Honda's reliability, great way to merge the two together. The people who have an issue probably haven't owned let alone driven a Ferrari before.

  • @turbo_brian
    @turbo_brian ปีที่แล้ว

    Your motion ratio isn't static. When measuring motion ratio like you have you should try and take 5 data points. One at ride height, two below ride height, and two above ride height. You can get away with 3 realistically but I like having 5 points to make sure the numbers all agree. The angle of the lower control arm and shock cause second order effects that cause your motion ratio change with suspension travel.
    Also the numbers you calculated will work fine for what you're doing.

    The car is so tough Mike! looks like its going 100mph just sitting still! of course we wanna hear it rip but no camera is gonna do it justice and we know it, I'm just glad to see it drive, what a masterpiece. There is nothing like the first drive no matter how short its always such a tingly incredible feeling there is truly nothing like it. I could see it on your face, congrats brother!! And thank you for taking us on this amazing journey there is no shot I'm gonna miss out on the track day!

  • @michaelatkin9649
    @michaelatkin9649 ปีที่แล้ว

    20:10 even with your stops youll still bottom out on your wheel well since your tire will grow slightly with weight and your frame will flex and blow that fender off if you ever hit your limit

    Always use at least one rubber or foam bump stop not instead but rather as an extra in this case.
    At bottom outs you will damage your suspension. Check out moto and mtb shocks in general. If there is a hard limiter they will always add a soft stopper as an extra.
