      I am curious - is this manmade opal? All opal I have seen so far is translucent with various sparkles.

      ** nevermind - I just saw that it is synthetic:)
      Can the UV resin be sealed with a top coat (like UV nail gel) in order to make the resin more shiny?

    This is how a video needs to look like. Very well made. I have made 2 rings like this. One with crushed turquoise stones and one with some other stones, don´t remember there names.
    I used superglue because i didn´t know about the resin at that time. Now i own a Photon printer so i know what resin is. I wish i own a small lathe like yours. I had to file my rings with hand. Good job.

      @@tealdreams If you aren't doing metal work and would like to, may I say - just jump in! I began with the bare minimum in a corner of the basement with a working window, and used a small torch similar to one used in cooking- you can make great things with minimal tools at a small table in a room with ventillation - that's the only restriction - the fumes from soldering require ventillation.
      Now, 6 years into it I've got a great set up that allows for more creativity and ability to work with a greater variety of materials - but I almost never started because I thought I needed a designated work area and a ton of tools (the Beaducation channel on youtube shows how to get started making great pieces with minimal tools and space).
      I encourage anyone who is fascinated by metal work to give this a try. Wire cutters, hammer, pliers, a small torch, and sand paper - I think thats all I had in the beginning and it was enough to keep me busy the first year.
      Best wishes to anyone who's thinking about taking up this craft! Thank you GomecowCreations for an excellent video!

      GomeowCreations I tend to made pendants with crushed pyrite, selenite, flowers and other natural items I can find foraging. That’s how I started making jewellery, but now I’m using my metal smithing skills combined and making the bezels etc., so combining the two is great fun. However, I always use super clear slow curing resin, I haven’t tried the UV stuff yet. I have a UV curing lamp that I used to use for my nails(!) do you think that would be strong enough to cure it in order to file it?

    Hey! Thank you for your videos! Could you explain me in more detail, what you did in 34:03-34:06. At first the ring is dim, and in the next frame it shines. Did you polish it before adding resin? I‘m trying to make the same ring (with amethyst) for my gf and i‘m stuck here. My ring looks really lacklustre...I’ll be very grateful for the answer!

    • @GomeowCreations
      @GomeowCreations  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Check out this video it might help with the polishing problem th-cam.com/video/mZI1F9Hy3Xo/w-d-xo.html
      But you really shouldn't use amethyst, it a very hard stones so cutting it down will take you a very long time and it might not look as good you you might think in small chips so you would have to use big chunks and that would make it even harder to cut down.

    My comment. When you have used the sheet of silver to do the ring shape, was it possible to use the sheet twice as tick,and then you use the machine,to do the gap in the middle, to save from doing an other two tin tinges ,and then soldiering on to the big one.?

    • @GomeowCreations
      @GomeowCreations  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah you could do that but it would need to be about 3x the thickness of silver and cutting that down with the lathe would cut our a good amount of silver. You would then have to clean all the silver chips up and melt them down to use them again or recycle it.

    Hello there ! Just wanted to ask if you have any tips to deal with bubbles when doing an inlay ring using UV resin ?? I like to keep a bit of transparent layer of resin above the materials but they almost alway get bubbles in them and when sanding down the excess i just get ugly holes filled with powder from the sanding process.

    What gage silver did you use for the band? I don't know what to order and I'm ADHD AF. .6mm thickness but nothing is telling me what gauge 🥺

    How long would the resin hold going through everyday activities, cleaning, hand washing, etc.? And would it be easy to repair if there was any damage overtime?

    I've been watching some of your videos. I really like how you show with the larger tools as well as just by hand. I did have a question though, can you, and would it be easier to, heat the material ie ring a little first then put the flux on then the solder? I've done other metal works in the past but not sure if you can with jewelery.

    Nice video, and I may have missed this, What is the benefit of the Resin vs CA glue? Benefits of square wire vs round wire?

    • @GomeowCreations
      @GomeowCreations  5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Thank you and resin vs CA.... Guess if I had to point out one thing is that I can polish CA easier and UV resin can be cured with light really fast so you don't have to deal with different chemicals.
      Round vs square wire, square works best for this because it lays flat on the inner band and makes it easier to solder it all with no lines or holes

      Hey, so that is called a lathe and here is a link to the setup that I use www.amazon.com/shop/gomeowcreations?listId=2R4TNA7WYWF9P that being said that it is kinda expensive to get started with. You can make a ring like this without a lathe and I have 3 videos about it and I will link them here.

    Hello, the ring looks great. You said you deliberately didn't use a super glue, why did you decide against it? Could it also be that the resin looks a little cloudy? Or is that deceptive? Many greetings from Germany

    • @GomeowCreations
      @GomeowCreations  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you and I used it to show that you don't have to only use CA glue. I have made a ring that just had the UV resin in it with nothing else and it was crystal clear with no fog. 😁👍 It's just another way to do it really and it might be easier for some people.

    Hi, I have heard that uv resins yellow over time, have you had this issue?

    • @GomeowCreations
      @GomeowCreations  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes they can but some don't. You can test UV resin with a small piece of it in the sun for a couple days and if it starts to yellow or anything then you'll know it's going to yellow over time. This particular ring is kind of old now and I also did a test on it leaving it in the sun and inside of water for like a week straight and currently as I type this it is in the ground for another test and it's been there for about 4 months. 😅

    Hello and thanks for all of your wonderful videos. I was wondering if you would know if I could use a Foredom bench lathe with the same attachment that you used on your lathe? I really don’t want to buy one more expensive tool, but I have arthritis in my hands and doing this by hand (I watched the other videos already!) would be troublesome for me. Thanks!

    May I ask how much you had to invest in the materials just for the ring and if you sold it what kind of profit did you get?
    Last question how many hours did it take you to create your beautiful ring?

    It might be just me, but after you polished the UV Resin and opals, there were places it seemed like it was a slight milky color over the opals. Was it the lighting or is it not crystal clear?

    • @GomeowCreations
      @GomeowCreations  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      So sadly it is crystal clear, the "white" spots that you're seeing are actually the silver back plate where I missed some areas with the stone 😅

      I have just use the same resin to fill in a ring to protect the design that's inside of its and after its polished you can't even tell that there is a resin in there because I have clear it is.
