@@MarbleGoby the knife was originally meant as a gardening tool. Here’s some reasons it’s bad for fighting and why limb disabling doesn’t work 1) the karambit can’t stab well, due to its blade 2) it isn’t good at slicing, due to the blades very small cutting edge 3) having any contact as of an attack using this knife will very badly hurt your finger in the ring Reasons limb disabling doesn’t work 1) when pumped with adrenaline, a person will not notice or feel and pain or damage 2) it’s difficult to damage moving and living muscle, as it’s very strong, and you have a lot of fat and skin to get though 3) at the point where the attacker has been “disabled” they will already be destined to bleed out due to the amount of damage needed to “disable” a person. 4) just switch hands Also most karambit instruction videos show the person right at the attackers throat, which is not likely to happen due to the blades shortness Karambits were meant to cut through small vines and roots, not for fighting. The western version of karambits also vary wildly from the og karambit. While looking sick as hell, they suck at fighting. As of their combat use, useless
Highly popular in Southeast Asia, particularly Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines. Used in farming and martial arts. In the Philippines often called Lihok or Sanggot by locals.
Complete nonsense. It’s actually quite poor for fighting. For a good fighting knife you want a balance of 3 major features; a comfortable and easy to manipulate handle, a long blade with plenty of available cutting edge, and a sturdy spine so it can thrust without risk of bending the blade. The karambit has none of these. Sure it could mangle you pretty good in the right hands, but so can a $5 box cutter from home depot.
It penetrates way less deep than a dagger and has a garden use so I doubt the law is based off any logic but rather they see it in games and think it’s dangerous. Like how the butterfly knife is illegal in a lot of states yet it’s less powerful.
@@WendiGonerLHthis is simply false. A karambit in the hands of someone who knows how to actually use a knife effectively is extremely deadly, much more so than your standard blade. It can slash and tear MUCH better and they even make karambits with pointed tips and that are slightly straighter so they are also very effective at penetrating. A sharp and well made karambit is much more dangerous than a regular blade. Plus disarming someone who has one is even more challenging. I carry a karambit as my daily knife carry and never anything else. It’s simply the best option for self defense if you’re skilled. I carry a gun also but it’s better to be safe than sorry and have both and blade and gun.
The Karambit was originated from West Sumatra (modern day Indonesia) around 12th Century. Sharp or blunt, the Karambit could inflicted serious damage upon fleshes.
