    This Video is Part of a Kit.
    Each kit has an a companion beading tutorial that walks you through making a suncatcher.
    That's what you are watching right now.
    We offer pliers as an in-box option for all our kits. This makes a perfect gift - an all-in-one activity.
    HAVE FUN!!! ❤️ HAPPY MAKING!!!
    If you aren't doing the all-in-one gift, we'd recommend getting these pliers (Paid Link): amzn.to/3ycF9xS
    We've included these pliers in our kits before. We still do on occasion. They are good enough - and affordable enough - for beginners. No quality issues.
    Some of the links here are affiliate links. That means, at no extra cost to you, We make a small commission if you click them and make a qualifying purchase. Thank you for helping! We are a small, self-sponsored TH-cam channel, so we appreciate any support you can throw our way.
    ================
    This kit is intended for adults or teens under supervision, as the wires can be a bit pokey if you’re not careful. I would recommend working on a sturdy surface or placing beads on a small dish so that you don’t lose any pieces if you bump the table. If you own cats, try not to draw their attention because you’ll have trouble keeping them away. 😸

    I love crescent moons and I wish I could watch how you made that frame. It’s so perfectly shaped and mine always look more like a pac man shape 🤣
    What size wire gauge do you use for the frame? 16? 18?

    • @Bitsyply
      @Bitsyply  4 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Haha, it helps to find something to use as a mandrel, like the bottom of a cup or water bottle. If you do it by hand/eye, then a drawing is definitely recommended (to keep it round)! I use pretty thick wire, which can be difficult to work with for people still learning (it’s difficult for me even). I would recommend 16 gauge, I think that’s ideal!

    This video was great! I wouldn’t have been able to do it alone. I didn’t notice I had the wrong pliers. I have a flat square ones that kinda scratched some places and made it hard to handle. To do the loops I used a paint brush. My cat loved playing with the wire while I was assembling my moon.

    Oh how I have tried just a simple string with beautiful glass beads but didn't know how to start it with a dangling piece but I think I know how now. I know I'll have to refer to your video many times but wanted to say thank you for such a great explain and show video, alot of videos seem to think you know the basics which I did not. Man, I wish you'd be here to show and help but at least I have the video. I've always referred to myself as the wanna b beader, so maybe I'll be able to drop that term soon!

    • @Bitsyply
      @Bitsyply  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Doers welcome :) wannabes too. The more I do, the more I wannabe. We’ve been eyeballing ceramics and leaded glass literally for years. 🤓 We’d love to see what you make :)

    I LOVE THESE! I'm off to etsy to choose a kit for myself. Question - if I wanted to make some more, where would you suggest going for an assortment of beads (I find that the hobby stores don't have very pretty faceted beads sometimes, or if they do, they don't have a wide range of colors and hues)? Thanks so much - these are beautiful and super inspirational!!!!

    • @Bitsyply
      @Bitsyply  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      So *I'M* super inspired that you noticed all the different hues and colors in our kits!!!! That's a combination of skills. What's the secret? It is super-un-sexy: Trial and error in design + mind-numbing googling + trial-and-error purchasing. After hitting the hobby stores for about a year - which we still buy some things from hobby stores BTW - we just googled bead shops in our area and started trying online suppliers. Aaaand that's still how we do it. We aren't sponsored by any supplier, so we don't promote any. We *are* self-sponsored, though, which is why we make and sell these kits. Sooooo... I hope my super direct answer didn't un-inspire you from visiting our etsy shop 😆 Getting a kit would support us making these videos and help keep the lights on. 🥳 Thanks for your support either way!!!! A like, comment, and a subscribe all help the channel, so thank you!!!! 🥰

      @@Bitsyply Not at all - I will definitely be going to your etsy! I always thought my fingers were too cumbersome for really intricate jewelry making, but ti feel like this is definitely accessible, and it is a REAL treat to be able to buy a kit than to have to hunt and peck and make a $100+ investment for basig cupplies when really, you give us everything we need. I think the designs are absolutely incredible, and I appreciate the quality of the tutorial videos as well. So many artists might balk at sharing their techniques, but I don't feel that here. I love the willingness to share! Thank you!!

      amzn.to/3ycF9xS (paid link) We used to use these pliers in our kits. We started our Amazon affiliate thingy like three months ago, but haven't used it, and are about to lose it, so thanks for the help! We need to 'make 3 sales' to keep it active. I'm not sure if I can post Amazon links in the comments, so I'll delete this in a bit. YAMAHGURRRL ARI!!!

    I accidentally did all of the dangly parts with the thinner wire. Will the crystal parts still work with the thicker wire?

    • @Bitsyply
      @Bitsyply  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Wellll... let’s see... Short answer: you can, but a 1st timer will probably crack a few beads doing it with the thicker sized wire. You may have enough thinner wire left over to complete the moon. Message us! We can coach you through it.

    • @SapphireSeahorse494
      @SapphireSeahorse494 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Bitsyply I ended up having enough of the thinner wire to use for the whole thing.

    HOW LONG IS THE WIRE TO MAKE THE MOON

    • @Bitsyply
      @Bitsyply  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The moon is made of several different wires. If you are making this for yourself, you need to determine what size you want your moon to be, and base everything else off that. If you are using a kit - 😛 available from our website 😜- it has everything you need.
