Honestly, this is by far the best explanations about zkrollups. Thank you for doing it, please keep explaining us those difficult concepts and solutions.
Nice video bro, ZK technology's untapped potential is exhilarating! "Taiko's" commitment to evolving with ZK-EVM positions them as key players in the blockchain's scalable future, where innovation knows no bounds.
I found you through the EVM video and this is the second video I've seen from you and I must say, really good job. It's obvious that you understand it and moreover you can explain it and such a combination is rare. And I appreciate the funny comment that solving P vs NP is probably the most complicated way to make a million dollars. That amused me. Keep it up. Explain complex concepts in a clear way, throw in a funny comment here and there, keep it up. Thumbs up.
Amazing video, would love to see more videos like this one - pure gem. Hope u can make maybe a very deep explanation of how the beacon chain interacts and synchronizes with the shards
OMG, finally found some indepth videos. Thks a lot very clear. I have sev questions though: can you expand more on how the prover works. How the diff can prove the several blocks done. Does the number of blocks affect anything? Why not do the prove 1000 blocks? What about sequencers.. is there a notion of centralization on the zk rollups themselves? And why zk are application specific? Again. Great videos. Just subed
github.com/jordanmmck/crypto-diagrams check that repo. i have all the diagrams in png form, and all but one of them in the procreate file format. the missing one was too big to upload.
Hi, great video - very helpful! Question: what is the business model of rollups? Sequencers use expensive hardware and need to fund their entire operation - do they do this by charging small fees for transactions they process and aiming to get high tx volume? I struggle to find information about this - but see things like Starkware being given an $8 Billion valuation. If you could explain this I would greaty appreciate it. Cheers.
That's my understanding. The sequencers and provers can take some part of the fee to cover their costs and give them some margin. Another avenue is having a token of course. The L2 operators could maybe have the token used in the sequencer proof of stake, or however it works, so maybe the token is required for staking in that process, but ETH is still used by users for fees? Also need to factor MEV into all that. I think there's many ways to make money running an L2.
@@jordanmmck thanks for the reply! Do they take part of the fee, or charge an additional fee? Or is it up to them? Because taking part of the fee would reduce the fee going to stakers and eat into the security budget of Ethereum - especially if they’re worth $8 Billion Or is it actually that there would be only the rollup fee paid by each transaction since it’s done off-chain, plus a small contribution to the batch fee
@@hamletwinston7239 every roll-up will need to pay market-determined ethereum gas fees to settle their batches. the amount they pay there won't be affected by their taking additional fees or not - so that shouldn't have any impact on eth security budget. the roll-up needs to charge their users a large enough fee such that they can afford the L1 gas cost of settling the batches. i imagine they would set their fees a bit higher than that level so that they can settle the batches and also make some margin
I really appreciate your efforts! I need some advice: I have a SafePal wallet with USDT, and I have the seed phrase. (alarm fetch churn bridge exercise tape speak race clerk couch crater letter). How can I transfer them to Binance?

Question : The Prover generates the Validity Proof, and includes it in a transaction (which then goes to the L1 Verifier Contract) ..BUT, is the proof included in the Batch? And if so, does the batch and the proof containing transaction represent the same? Need your help here.....great explanation and visual schema btw
The data availability data is separate and distinct from the proof. Which is why we can have things like validiums where the DA data isn't even on the same chain. The smart contract prover doesn't actually need all that batch data in order to verify the proof. The batch does not contain proof data afaik.
Thanks for the clarification :) By any chance can we continue this convo in Twitter Dm.... I do want to share some of my diagrams that I drew while learning n writing about Zkr's Thanks 🙂
As far as I know this data is NOT verified as accurate in any on-chain way. But anyone who is running a full node would be able to tell if a delta is incorrect as the resultant state root would not match the state root that the proof attests to.
Your videos are fascinating, how can I donate to you? As well as I'm doing my thesis related to blockchain technology, can I have the possibility to contact you or discuss such technology?
Thanks so much! Support is always appreciated! If you want to donate you can mint as many NFTs as you want from here: zora.co/collect/1155/0x2f3c7f016af9494b9b39ad766f3bf3b9728f30cd Alternatively you can send ETH to jordanmmck.eth Send me an email if you want to chat: jordanmmck@gmail.com

Really good video. I work at a VC company and we were sent this as required watching.

thank you. yes i'm hoping to do some videos on "eth2" in the future!
Great video as always, you are the best !
nice work
Amazing presentation as always. Thank you!
good one, will you do a similar overview for Optimistic Rollups ?
yes planning to

Great questions, thanks. Hopefully I can answer them in a future video!
Is there a way to actually have public access to some of these visualizations? I'd love to be able to delve into them as a non-editor and poke around!

Unless - rollups are volunteer-run, like p2p network nodes?
