Saw Billy here in Tulsa- he began 2 straight "World Tours" here. Great show. 1st "Concert in the Round" I'd ever seen, too. Still a fan. Love the Don't Say No album!
Fantastic song! As I mentioned in the first reaction to Billy, most video content for artists like Billy were live performances in the early days of MTV. There wasn't the content out yet and the artists and industry were scrambling to find ways to provide MTV with content to get their artists attention. They saw the writing on the wall that video was a new way to garner big dollars, new fans and attention. However, the video industry was still in its infancy. Some bands were doing great with it early but their music and style fit what was being pushed - dancing & style being two components of it. Many were sort of put together by stylists and choreography was popular because it was entertaining. But artists who weren't dancers and into style were a bit uncomfortable by the whole process but didn't know any better. They followed direction. This is the type of video most rock bands were providing. Looking back it was great stuff. Back then it just seemed lackluster to what was being presented on MTV at the time.
If you want a step up in beat from him give "All Night Long" a go. I got to see him and Colin Hay (Men At Work) playing with the Ringo Starr Traveling All Stars awhile back. Great show.
Now react to the video his girlfriend encouraged him to release that destroyed his fuckin career. Soon after releasing his Rock Me Tonite video Billy started facing severe backlash from his once loyal fans. Guys who had loved his music were pulling boycotts similar to what Bud Light went through by destroying his records and cassettes, burning his concert tees, and they quit going to his concerts. Just Say No is a great album, and they can't take that away from him. Billy had more to give us, but his career was virtually shot to hell after one video. Dude could have been a monster...
As good of a song that was the video treatment killed him if he would have just made a straight up rock performance video of that song we would be having a different conversation but that was just how powerful MTV was at that time. Crazy thing is the video was #1 but the hardcore fans went ballistic.
Was that an Ocean City Maryland mug. Plus I remember when the song first came out, last week I had the song on loop for an hour while making dinner. Right on.
....not a live video, this is the radio version...but still a great tune...but there is an excellent live version of(actually live) "Lonely is the Night"
Too bad Billy didn't have someone to help him when it came to listening to Kenny Ortega. If Kenny Ortega wants to produce your music video tell him no!!!!!
criminally underrated billy deserves to be in the rock hall of fame
This is classic EARLY 80s... the mix of cool guitar and synth says it all. Before hair bands ruled the airwaves.
the songs, voice, and guitar tones were just killer
Classic!!!! 6th grade everybody had their big double cassette boom boxes on 10!!!! Memories!!!
Billy was my jam back in the 1980's. Such great songs! Yes more Billy!!!
My favorite song of his. When you hear this stuff, how can anyone listen to anything other than rock and roll?
My faborite one by Billy Squire. So good!!!
Billy Squier was the opening act for the first concert I attended and this was the first song on his playlist. Very fond memories.
I saw Billy Squire open up for Queen in Philly in 1981 . This is so cool it brings back a lot of memories.
Saw him open for them at Madison Square Garden in July of '82.

My fav BS jam by far. That guitar in the break is fiyah!
I still have this album on vinyl. I purchased it when this first came out.
He does my favorite Christmas song. You should do that around the holidays.
This is my favorite song by him!
Let's see, it's been about 43 years since i saw Billy do this live during his "Don't Say No" tour.
Oh wow,.,time flies !! It doesn’t seem that long ago ..,.I saw the same tour !,
My kind of lover and I need you and emotions in motion.
Got to see him live, with Def Leppard opening( before Pyromania took off ), at the Spectrum in Philly. It was an incredible show!! 🤘🤘🎸🎸
This dude was killed by a video. And Kenny Ortega's fingerprints were all over the crime scene.
Suzie and Travis, you gotta keep the Squier magic rollin’ with the title track ‘Emotions in Motion’, such a groover/banger!!!😊
Studio version, not live.
Love Billy, brings back some good memories.

Great song!!! Loud, for starters.
So good
brilliant
Now that you heard so many Classic rock bands, do you think it has changed your sound any? And if so, how do you think influences you the most?
This is not live but a great song. Long Live Billy Squier exclamation point.
One of the greatest from the 80's
If you want a step up in beat from him give "All Night Long" a go. I got to see him and Colin Hay (Men At Work) playing with the Ringo Starr Traveling All Stars awhile back. Great show.
🔥🔥🔥
To me this is garage type band and he was one of my favorite bands

Next up (if you haven't already) ...... My Kind Of Lover!!!
Saw him live in Nashville Municipal Auditorium 1985
Just a very good rock band without all the glits.

. 😊 I'm thinking of strokes good for the family of
Plant and page in one package
"Rock Me Tonight" is the video that effectively ended his career. Tough to watch...but you should.
Such a shame because I like the song, like many of his others, but yes, the video killed his career

One of my favorite Billy Squier songs. I'm not sure what Thomas is talking about, this is t live this is straight off the album.
I seen him here in Atl Ga in the 80’s when he opened for Queen 😎
Soundtrack to my college career.
Gotta do some "Stroke Me"...really! ❤
i think he plays with Ringo Starrs allstars
....not a live video, this is the radio version...but still a great tune...but there is an excellent live version of(actually live) "Lonely is the Night"
Do Lonely is the night
Too bad Billy didn't have someone to help him when it came to listening to Kenny Ortega.

"Learn how to Live" is another great song before the disastrous video that destroyed his career.
So many more bands you dont have time to listen to.
