- For more than a half century I have been setting up great camps. Most served as a comfortable home base while hunting Elk, Deer, and Moose in remote wilderness areas.Some were packed in by mules or on horseback. Anyone that has ever seen one of my camps, have marveled. Here, I show how to set up a Good Camp the Pungo Prairie way!
I do not know about anyone else,but I like to come back from time to time and re watch this video!

Yes Ma'am. I've had a lot of inquiries on that. I am going to try to do a video early in the new year building one so folks can see how it's done. I have built several over the years, this one works pretty good. I also have a more compact version as well.

No disrespect, but this is a hotel room somewhere other than town, its nice, no question, but I have never camped in this fashion...and my budget would not allow,,, usualy its me and a buddy, throw a waterproof plastic on the ground and build a fire..... but hey I am up to anything...

He says it's for two or three months. It's perfect. It's a home away from home.
To each their own. When I backpack I love to rough it. Three days deep in the woods with only things on my back, I love that. However, if I have my car when I camp then I am up for all the gear and the world. I would love to step up my car camping game.
Nah, that would be an RV; that's the reason I personally always give when I say that RVing isn't camping - that it's just a mobile hotel room. No dissing it, either; there's nothing _wrong_ with it, it's still traveling + holidaying, it's just not camping. If you've got a _solid_ roof* between you + the sky, then that's no longer camping, it's something else. But this is; it's just camping pioneer style. ☺
*FTR, it's not a "technology is evil" thing; I say the same of cabin-stays.

It works well Bill, for preserving the bottom of the stove from burn through as well as retaining a bit of heat. Of course with river jacks, even small ones, there is always a few that pop on you. Thanks for watching!

As a Rockbridge County native I never thought I would click on a youtube video and hear. "This morning Im in one of my most favorite places on the planet. Goshen Pass in Rockbridge county Va." I have fished all up and down that pass. Never hunted that side of the county. Was always closer to Amherst Co for hunting. You Mr. Dixon have not a good camp but an awesome camp. But if you are going to be living in it for 2 months out of the year then it should be awesome. Thank you for the video, the smile it put on my face and the memories it brought back.
