Agree. The shirt's not what he claimed he was selling, so if a refund isn't automatic then it's hard to assume the guy was acting in good faith when he made the sale originally.

Ellis you've probably heard this before, but I heard something recently that apparently Messi has 100s of player spec shirts made per game in order to give to the opposition, fans etc. So people who list their Messi shirts as match worn and received from a (for example) Girona player may not necessarily be the shirt he was wearing in that match and their one of the 100s of player spec Messi shirts made per game. I reckon this is why it's near on impossible to ever find a genuine match worn Messi shirt. Ellis your a legend appreciate the content hopefully you will get your money and your Aguero shirt back soon.

The point about the publicity being the sellers ulterior motive to scamming you is spot on. I'm 90% sure that is why the seller risked it. That being said I'm hopeful that you'll get your money back, I can't see the seller getting away with this.Makes you think how badly the seller is tarnishing his families name considering it is a generational business, but also makes you think whether this is a standard practice within their business🤔

I’m not sure it was publicity…didn’t Ellis swap the match worn Aguero shirt and pay money as well? Think the guy just thought this is a major win and was intent on scamming from the start. There is no way someone who has sold /traded 1000’s of football memorabilia didn’t know that football shirt was worn in a match, he’s probably done the authenticity receipt himself.

Definitely. Out of my collection I only have three or four, tops. All sourced from the kit rooms.
One of them was a spare from World Cup stock that never went past match-issue because the kit was not used at all (i.e. we played all of our matches in the home one). And it was a hand-me-down.

Aguero Shirt is fake too since the nameset wasnt used on matchworn shirts only on commercial ones. He has to open up his eyes so many Things are clear. Plus the super collector isn't known in the collector bubble. Nobody knows him. The biggest Argentina collectors don't know him. Poor Ellis but yeah

Yeah and I can tell you why. The numbers of his Aguero shirt (made by deko graphics) have small lines an holes inside. The real ones (made in Argentina) have lines and printed dotes. Means on the real ones it was impossible to see the color of the stripes beneath. On Ellis pictures you can see the light blue color of the shirt through the dotted lines inside the number. Funny thing is that the so called super collector from the US was scammed with an argentina shirt :-D. With the difference that Ellis did not know it as well because he trusted a fucking COA
@@ElliWB Not true. The match it was worn in is on youtube, video named "Lionel Messi● Score A Hat-Trick Argentina vs Guatemala" and there's a clear view of Aguero shirt at 4:09. It's identical to the shirt Ellis handed over.

Honestly it was red flag city from the very start Ellis, I remember his "car broke down" and personally thought it was a weird situation from the offset, easy for me to say in hindsight though, hope you get sorted.
Gutted to see this Ellis. It's getting worse trying to find genuine matchworn shirts, and I've even seen people creating their own COA's to try to back up the items they are selling. I hope you get the Aguero shirt and your money back, and I would go for the money you spent on the photo verification on top too.
If you paid a portion of the payment to a company name via credit card you can use the evidence and raise a chargeback/section 75 claim regarding it being missold. You would get the money back it’s just the aguero shirt you’d loose out on :/ hope this might help 👍🏻
Yes this!! Under the Limitation Act 1980 you have 6 years from date of sale to raise a Section 75 claim with your bank.
I'd keep an eye out for your Aguero shirt too, don't want them selling it before you get a chance to get it back and of course a full refund, good luck with it all and at least you have lots of proof and have documented a lot of the transaction too, that will help a lot on your part.

At this stage the only way I'd believe a shirt was match worn would be if the player handed it to me on his way off the pitch, this is a market that just seems to be full of scam artists

As a long time collector (of Star Wars stuff) I’ve been scammed a few times, it’s not cool, and these people still continue to do it, hopefully the platform you have will stop anyone else getting conned, and hopefully you’ll get your money back and continue the hunt

This is why I have zero interest in Match worn shirts. You literally can’t trust anyone unless the player took it off his back and have it to you. Match worn shirts are a fools errand at this point.

That jersey with that photo was making the rounds in a handful of match issue/worn jerseys from a very trusted seller in Spain. The seller has a good reputation and is always straightforward about the items being worn vs issue. Shame this happened to you.

Like I said during the previous Messi shirt saga, the only way you truly know a shirt is matchworn is if it's handed to personally at the end of a game, or if the seller gives you a photo of the player personally handing the shirt over to them at the end of a game.
I just don't see how it's worth the hassle.

It makes sense that the one you got would be just player issue, i wouldn’t even be surprised if the letter from the family who got the jersey originally was real and they just didn’t know he didn’t wear it. The only solution is that all the teams would put a QR code for their match worn shirts. This would be an immediate proof of it being the actual shirt being used. Until then or a similar solution is found there will be shady sellers trying to pull these scams. Also what is ridiculous is that he still had a 600$ shirt so just sell it for what it’s worth and no one will be unhappy/scammed/sued.
