Thanks for posting your set up and how you're using your lights. I especially am grateful you showed some good uses for the magmod gear.

I’m just finding out about this style of lighting, been looking for a name for this style for the longest time. If I don’t have a light, can I just use my iPads screen or a flash light? 😅

Any light source placed in the right position could replicate this style of light if done properly...but I would certainly recommend using a modifier with some diffusion for a nice soft light.

Have you tried taking self portraits with a Sony? My experience is that it is hard to get focus. You can't use autofocus, so the only way to do it is mark where you stand and focus on your tripod from where you are standing. This doesn't work well with nailing eye focus though. Any tips? Am I missing something? Amazing pictures btw.

I haven't used a Sony, but I have the same issues with my Nikon, even if I use a stand in (flower on a light stand or a styrofoam head would work) to lock in the focus where I'm going to be. So, what I've found the most helpful is to tether my camera to my computer. You get a much bigger screen and you can move the single focus point to your eye via your camera, and nail the focus after 1-3 shots. I have fallen in love with tethering. Most cameras come with a tether cable (only about 1 ft) but you can get a 15 ft one from tether tools for about $35. Hope this helps.

Where did you get the short rod that is on the flashpoint 200?
