I tried it yesterday for the first time. I made two mistakes. On the first one I said "cien ocho" instead of ciento ocho. And on the last one I said "setenta y uno" for the first part instead of "setenta y un". I was pretty pleased that I only made the two mistakes. I just did it again today and I said "setenta y uno" again. I'll try again the next day or day after and see if I can get them all right. :)

How about this tongue twister in Spanish numbers....... 333,333,333 (Trescientos treinta y tres million trescientos treinta y tres mil trescientos treinta y tres) Try saying that big number fast. So a big hack--in the place values in mathematics, we use 3 places before 1,000, and then 1,000,000, etc. When you read a large Spanish number, start from L to R as usual in one place value group, and then L to R in the other place value group, and so on, until the final "hundred, tens, ones" group is done.
Can't all Spanish people just agree to remove illogical stuff from the language lol. 😃 Like using that "Y" just in SOME places. Cant you say it without Y everywhere just to make it more straightforward and logical? Is there any purpose to have that Y sometimes? What does it do?

You are right. "Mil" is not plural, so "thousands of dollars" is "mil de dolares"--not "miles de dolares".
