- Like many people I have struggled with finding a way into DC Comics. Thankfully the Absolute Universe has been launched and the threshold for entry has been lowered.

My experience aligns with yours. The stories are better than I expected and so I’m hanging around and, like you, have now picked up Green Lantern and next will grab Batman Hush.
A few things here:
1.) That DC podcast is gold. Love it. Great guests, solid conversations.
2.) I love the DC continues to try to find ways that bring in new readers. The Crisis on Infinite Earths, New 52, the Absolute Universe, and I love that it works!
3.) Bro, you may have skipped makin' videos, but you ain't skip shoulder day ONCE huh? Bro Swoldierin' up again! Haha.
I’ve actually been getting back into the gym for the last several weeks. LOL. Shoulders were always my favorite. LOL. Thanks for watching and commenting bro.
P.S. What’s crazy is that the episode that I pulled from only had like 10K views which I was shocked by. I honestly had a hard time finding it. I keep looking within the DC media and not Max. Alas. :-)
Absolute Superman isn’t a Superman comic. But I’m glad there are people who like it
Love this video, couldn't agree more. DC can be overwhelming with the amount of books, especially with most of them being a Bat title or a tie in. Absolute has been solid so far. Great content Regie!
I think the All-In initiative was another great thing that DC has done to try and get people in. Even Dawn of DC to an extent with stories starting. I’d much prefer a company wide “initiative” than constant new number 1’s like marvel has done over the last 15 years extensively with some comics, while DC hasn’t done so as much, they still have a few ongoing series from the start of Rebirth, while marvel is about to start their third new volume of ASM since that era. The main thing is that when you have characters with this much history, it’s finding that balance between starting something new, but honouring what came before
I've been following DC off and on consistently since the new 52 launch and I completely understand that feeling, where I feel like I'm missing something from other forms of DC history, whether it be crisis events or eras prior to the new 52. I tried to hop on the train again with future state, but personally I don't think it had the impact they wanted or the collective stories mattered in the long run. But with this new DC All In initiative and absolute universe, I think it is an excellent time for both new readers and veterans to join, bringing back some of our favorite and iconic artists and writers for this new wave of storytelling. I'm with you on trying newer DC books, I was most shocked with how much I enjoyed trying the new the Aquaman, The Question, black lighting and metamorpho stories. My personal favorites from the new line of books is the absolute titles, Justice league unlimited and The New Gods
Glad that I’m not the only one. LOL. You and I are reading some of the same material and I dig it. With that said, I have check out The Question or Metamorpho yet. Maybe I will now. Appreciate you watching and commenting.
Regie read Batman: The Knight. It’s a maxi series by Chip Zdarsky about how Bruce Wayne’s (Batman) learned the skills that made him the “world’s greatest detective”.
I took years off or reading amazing Spider-Man and then picked up the red goblin story. I was so lost because of the time away. JJJ being the only one who knew who Spider-Man was and keeping his secret made no sense to me at all.
Funny, I feel the same way about Marvel Comics. Once I got back into Comics in 2005, I tried marvel (I was a big Marvel Fan in the 1960s) but really didn't understand anything going on. Much easier to pick up DC. (It was All Star Superman that got me hooked.) I am reading more independent comics today.
I can tell you really love Absolute DC Universe... your enthusiasm increases when pointing out the art works inspired by manga/anime 😂
DC Absolute IS amazing! I love it!
Salutation Regie.Absolute Batman and absolute Superman is an awesome storyline.
The reason you feel like you’re missing someone is because for the past 20 years, they’ve made their books soo interconnected. Especially when it comes to their event stories. You’re made to feel like you have to buy every single issue. Then there’s the issue of Dc rebooting or soft rebooting every few years. It gets old. I keep up with what’s going on. If it seems interesting I’ll read it.
Didnt hate dc, but didn't by dc books to read them until the absolute universe. Now dc is most of the books I'm buying.
DC is great once you jump in. It took me a long time to even dip toes but it's been amazing and Absolute has been a really good entry point for even more people. Personally I think they're doing a much better job, overall, than Marvel. They seem to have more, stronger writers and more consistent artists.
Man, if i picked up a Xmen title I’d end up in a coma trying figure out the relationships and what’s happening. Madelyn Pryor? Who? 😵💫 (and yes i pick up Madelyn Pryor books for the articles)
Ultimate Spider-man is also a great modern.
I wanted to like the Absolute Universe but I don't. I read the first 2 Superman and found them boring and i've been reading Batman but plan on dropping it after the first arc. Too many things I can't ignore like the ax on his chest that seems to flex when he moves but is rigid when he uses it. The fact that Bruce Wayne seems to be a giant who should make the short list of people who could be Batman just based on size. And then the 3 story tall Batmobile that was somehow built within a city building. It just doesn't make sense.
Absolute universe is absolutely fire! Anyone reading the new thundercats? Straight crack😂
3 jokers was horrible, if i had elon money i'd buy every copy and burn it because it's trash.
Lol...the last surviving copies would be worth millions
Dropped.... Science.
I want to love the man bat.. 😂🤘🏼🇺🇸
I’m sure he’ll love you back. ;-)
Hated DC 🙄Coming from Marvel guy 🤔 but slowly becoming a Absolute guy 🤯
You hated DC over the last 5-10 years? Or always? Because they have some amazing stories before they went after that “modern audience” money.
Always.
@ that’s too bad
