The one thing that annoys me about this show is the lack of communication between characters. If I were the leader, I would have a weekly town hall meeting, where all the residents would report any strange/weird occurances that they have seen/heard, or any places that they have discovered.
With the last episode you know why they just don’t tell every thing to every one. And if you think a little it’s pretty obvious. In a larger scale why do you think there are state secrets ?
I am so glad someone is finally saying this. The writing is sub-par. The only reason I am so invested in the show is that I love the concept and it's (for the most part) well acted. However, so much of the writing feels focused on 3 episode story arcs, as opposed to a truly cohesive narrative.
Another good thing is that writing, despite making most of the characters idiots, is still more or less logical. Also I like that they have left many clues spread over entire series, like rats eating a raven in the basement, etc, that you at first don't pay attention to unless you UNDERSTAND them after someone finally tells you.
one important point to note about the feasibility of the irrationality of the decisions for the characters, is that under extreme stress and duress, humans, especially in large groups, living under extreme fear, stress and life threatening ( not to mention horrific ) circumstances for a long period of time would do unreasonable and seemingly stupid things. We have to remember these characters haven't slept for a long period of time, probably weeks. Their decision- making and actions are going to be beyond questionable especially to people like us, observing from the fourth wall perspective.
Disagree. First off, it's not possible to not sleep for weeks. Secondly, humans are known to be very flexible and can accommodate to literally any living situation.
The only unrealistic thing is the fact that no ome wuestions Victor or keep track of where he is/going. The townspeople died from his time what tf did he do after? How'd he survive? Why wasn't he eaten?
From what I understand, Frank was suppose to nail the windows shut, so they couldn't be opened, not "board" them up. But, yes, alot of things are goofy!
The reason they were mad at the guy who got his family killed by not nailing his windows shut was because the entities manipulate people into opening them, and had manipulated his daughter who easily opened the window, if it were nailed shut, she wouldn't have been able to open it.

I blame the mom she was standing right their whispering to her kid acting like she can-hear she should've been running and yelling at her to get away from the door
1.Fatima addressed the information sharing already with Elgin. She said they tried, and they could never figure anything out because it never made sense. She hints at it being a taboo because some went crazy trying to figure it out. Victor addressed it with Jade and told him to stop pursing his visions because bad things again a taboo. 2.They stopped boarding up when they got the talismans. The simple reason for getting rid of the boards is for light and air flow. Imagine a house that is closed off from air flow. Major example being the community house it would reek. They simply let their guard down because they went thru what 100+ some days I can't remember atm. Yes, people do at the worst times and places. I'm in the military and seen even the most disciplined people drop their standards in hostile environments. 3. Lot of the people doing stuff also comes down to the entity or whatever's influences. Yes, it's pretty much a plot armor but it has been shown particularly Sara from the start. Now we are seeing it with Boyd being the focus of the entity(s) and a tool. Bringing the worm/dream monster to town for example. 4. It's established that woods have no exit and change at a whim. Boyd has the most experience going into them outside of Victor. But now he has an understanding how bad it is, and they can bring thing back to town that are dangerous. We also don't know how long it took them to round up all of them since Boyd been there for a several years and it started with him. Losing a cow in the woods for even a week is a dead sentence at their current state.
You're right! I they missed the quote from that 1st episode scene where Boyd is berating the father. He says "if you have kids, you nail your windows shut!" Most people don't have kids.
It would be pretty boring if they did all the things you’ve said, some people share information but most of them just accept they can’t leave and when it’s dark go in your house. This season they will share more info and go on the attack FINALLY

The only thing you'd worry about is them freezing. But I don't think it's that cold out yet. There's time to regroup and deal with it. Dude, I totally agree with you ) What's also irritating, instead of working all day long in the field, the Fromville inhabitants are always fucking around doing nothing. And then they suddenly: "Boyd, we're out of food...". As if only that now-passed-away Chinese woman has to cook for 30 or 40 persons daily just out of her kindness. The only explanation is that Fromville influences people and makes everyone dumber, otherwise I can't explain why Victor and Tabita are hiding existence of the monster cave, given that literally each day monsters are feeding on someone new, potentially children.
If character were more intelligent then you would have totally different plot. Unfortunately, they need to be stupid at times. For example if you made them totally smart then you would have to end the plot in one season.
The windows most likely don't need to be boarded up because of the magic rocks. The diner specifically doesn't have any boards over the windows because no one lives there.

Jim, Boyd, Jade and Tabitha worked my nerves this episode, Ethan too actually because I started rewatching the show to refresh myself on the million mysterious things they hinted at that haven't gone anywhere yet and the first episode Boyd puts that guy in a cage because he didn't nail the window shut knowing kids are stupid(even though his wife was there and didn't even try to stop it), but yet that doesn't apply to Ethan even though he constantly does reckless, stupid child things. He was missing at the beginning of the episode, why is it even possible for him to get out at night or open anything? And don't get me started on Boyd, not even a lock on the barn? Even if they somehow didn't worry about the monsters, the other humans are trying to take them. For a show like this to work, the writers need to pay attention to details. We're supposed to believe that all these things have meaning and will come together but they can't even put the characters in scenes that make their actions make sense. Thanks for calling out the obvious. The premise of the show is excellent, but the execution has been betond poor. There are way too many useless characters, some seemingly with no purpose and zero logic to their actions. Why don't they set traps for the monsters? Why has no one tried to learn more from Victor?
