CORRECTION: The HDMI cable that comes with the S is actually NOT the same as the X. It is a 'High Speed' cable instead of the X's 'Ultra-High Speed'. So the Series S HDMI will not send 4k120 signals.

2:00 Velocity architecture (coming soon to a Windows PC near you with selected GPUs) is not that it uses an SSD instead of a HDD. It means that the data from the SSD goes directly to the Video card instead of being delayed by a CPU process with increased performance as a result.

Why do Microsoft send units to TH-camrs who then go on to make false claims and spread misinformation? The S isn’t “significantly less powerful”, the main difference is the GPU & RAM, which is offset by the target resolution; the CPU bar 200Mhz and the Velocity Architecture in the SSD, are identical.
Regarding the Series S running One S versions of BC games, again, out the box these games IF they have uncapped frame rates will see enhancements out the box without any developer updates, but you also get 16xAF on One S titles and better load times. If a developer updates a One S game, for example Valhalla, Gears 5, or The Witcher 3, Cyberpunk, etc to take advantage of the new hardware in the S, then they will look and run significantly better on Series S than One S.

Always enjoy the vids guys, thanks. You should probably not cut off the big guy so often though?!?!? Everyone is excited, I get it. But I will NEVER agree with the battery situation on the Xbox vs PS sticks. My PS3's died, had to replace the batteries, not exactly something you can get at Walmart. My DS4, miserable controller with 6-8 hr battery life and spent most of my playing time plugged in to my laptop for a power source. Thankfully I got rid of PS4 for a Pro before the stick battery totally died and now my Pro is gone for a Ps5. But how anyone can argue that a xbox stick that can last 30 hrs with AA rechargeable batteries ( I mean it's 15 bucks for a charger and AA's!?!?) or you can go get a battery pack as well and essentially have your built in battery experience but without needing pry tools to replace. I will never understand the dual shock battery love. AA's are everywhere, will be around until we die. The Batteries for the DS3/DS4 will NOT be around forever, the controllers at some point will be useless wireless.

Physical games benefit isn't just avoiding a lot of download but also the can be found cheaper in stores getting rid of stock or making discounts or in the used market. Hell even can be gifted.
That is why you don't really save money with S if you plan to own games.

Not sure how Xbox All Access works in the States but over here in the UK, the credit broker for the deal is a company called Klarna and they give you the option to pay extra each month OR the whole amount whenever you want so you're not technically tied into a 2 year commitment if you don't want to be

No. Please don't opt for the series S. You don't need a 4k 120hz monitor to get the next gen experience anyway because most pcs aren't even capable of outputting that and even consoles like the series X and ps5 can barely output at 1440p120fps for competitve shooters and racing games. The series S probably won't even be able to run next gen games at 1080p60fps. I strongly recommend you to opt for either the series X or the ps5 and buy the series S as a secondary console if you're already buying the ps5.

    • @Bosay831Gaming

@@santhoshsridhar5887 Let's wait and see what comes out. The S is not a bad deal as a primary or a secondary system. You will still get better performance than any current gen systems overall. I'm sure Digital Foundry will be breaking it all down soon.

I have to disagree with the thought that most people should buy a Series S, the fact is that you will only have access to about 300gb of storage, COD Black Ops Cold War is over 200gb, see the problem? It will pretty much be mandatory to buy one of the expansion cards very soon after buying the Series S, negating the price difference also alot of 3rd parties have discussed the difficulties they are having with getting any decent performance out of it, some saying they can barely manage 720p. The Series S to me is too stripped back to be a good purchase.

In case you have the tv it is fine but if you dont have it and planning to buy xbox series x the console will be useless unless you buy an hdmi 2.1 tv so the total budget will be 500 for console and at least 1000 usd for the tv.
now the comparison is 300 usd to 1500 usd

I currently have an Xbox One S, and if I had to chose between these two, I would definitely go for the Series X. If I went with the Series S, I would actually lose some features from my One S such as the 4K Blu-Ray player and the IR blaster and I would get very little in return, at least for the time being. In terms of graphics, it only looks like I would see marginal improvement over the One S. Like they said, Xbox One games will be running the One S versions instead of the X versions, so visually they would look the same; the only difference would be better frame rates or faster loading times. That's another thing, the storage. The Series S has basically the same amount of storage as the One S. True, the SSD is alot faster, but still 500GB was pretty rough to deal with, even on the One S. I had to buy an external storage drive for it; from what I hear, the Series S will support those, but only for last gen One games, otherwise you have to buy those expensive external SSDs for the console.
It feels like the Series X is more of a next gen console. I mean really the only thing going for this new generation is 4K graphics, high frame rates, and ultra fast SSDs. The Series S only just barely technically has those things. As much as I love the value proposition of the Series S, it just feels pointless as an upgrade from the One S.

A lot of people think that "Oh its less powerfull its dog crap" it really isnt, its more of a choice, the Xbox Series S is going to provide you with everything that the Xbox Series X will only at one cost, resolution, if you have a 1080p or 1440p monitor or TV and dont plan to upgrade any time soon, then the Series S is the choice for you, while if you have a 4k TV or Monitor, then the Series X is for you, other than that, they are practically the same, just without the disc drive and less storage, both support quick resume, both play all the next gen games and last gen games, only difference being one supports 60fps 1080p up to 120fps, and one supports 60fps 4k up to 120fps, thats it, so if youre not getting into 4k any time soon and you dont want to or dont think its a really big difference then the Series S will do everything the same only at a lower resolution its still more powerfull then the One X its way more powerfull then the One or One S and its a really good deal for next gen gaming

It's a solid plan, sell the Series X to those who want the best of the best, then sell the Series S to those who want to spend less/families/steamers who don't care about 4K just yet, and sell off remaining X1S (likely gonna be real cheap over black friday, and remain at that bf price). Interestingly, this is almost a 1:1 of whay Sega of America had WANTED to do in 95, Saturn as best of the best, Neptune (redesigned Genesis w/ 32x built in) as an introductory/cost effective introduction, and selling of remaining genesis models. Of course Sega of Japan screwed that whole thing up.

So this is confusing me. People keep on talking about the subscription method of purchasing the Series S as a bargain at $25/m. Over 24 months that works out to $600. Subtracting the price of the console as $300, that works out at $12.50/month for the Xbox cloud pass.
Isn’t that nearly the exact same price as getting it normally? Or even more expensive since the first month of the cloud service is $1?
Wouldn’t it work out cheaper to get Xbox Game Pass and then buy the console on a Black Friday sale or something instead?
