Just to clarify I am not part of the project team or investors to reopen the theatre . Only giving those who are a chance to get the info out there. Thanks to Casey for giving me information on what’s happening and a little backstory on why the downtown theatre has been closed for ten years

@TheDailyWoo Adam, why not consider being on the team or investing in it? You would be the perfect spokesperson for their operation and I think could contribute allot of good ideas. They have the right idea, using half for movies, and converting the other half for concerts/performances. We have a place here in Massachusetts called TCAN, (The Center for Arts Natick) that is just that. In the early 2000s a group of business owners saved a closed firehouse from being demolished and turned it into a performing arts theatre. The garage became the main theatre, featuring a wide variety of musicians, comedians, many well known. In the past 3 or 4 years they converted the firefighter's quarters upstairs into a small movie theatre that can also be utilized for smaller concerts and activities. They show a variety of movies, classics and new releases. which I think the project team should consider instead of just doing classic movies which would make it more sustainable and profitable. They also do a film festival for the high school every year where the students produce their own films to be shown at the theatre.

They need to leave the tile work inside and on the walls, as originally designed. Just give it a good cleaning. That’s what makes it so iconic in the first place.

Can't even imagine why such a beautiful retro building like that has been stood unused, it's so good that people like Casey have the ideas to give it pretty much back so the whole community can use it, sounds like he has some fantastic ideas, i would love to live their Adam, love that community spirit, where i live it used to be like that, now people barely know who lives next to them, pretty sad times, Thankyou x

It is unfortunate to have such an icon from the district going to waste. Just because it's a safer bet for the building owner to get guaranteed money from AMC than to let them out of the contract. Giving someone else a go could make them a little more money if it's a success or lose money if it fails. But hopefully this is rectified soon with the contract expiring. There's a lot of good ideas mentioned in the video so this could be a hit if done right.

    • @NatureRecycleFlorida

@@MrNateSPF hope it works out for them ,but a major movie cinema corp didnt so bad planning for parking or theater design probably to blame .

My wife and I used to walk from our townhouse on Campus to the theater all the time to watch movies (before the kids). We saw the Matrix there when it came out. There actually used to be a guy that rode a bike that was attached to a full-sized piano up and down the downtown area playing tunes. They pressure washed the streets every morning too when the town first opened. We moved in in June of 1996 but the downtown didn't open for a while later.

A number of years ago I worked for a local municipality in the Midwest. It was my job to come up with ideas for community wide events that would bring people to the area as well as generate revenue for local businesses and the town itself. Through my tenure we had wonderful events that revitalized the downtown and I would have been thrilled to find someone like Casey who had a vision to positively promote the town. All of the local merchants loved these events because they made money and got people into their shops who might never have known that the shops existed, except for one guy. He was a crotchety old man who hated these events because to many people kept “forcing their way into his store” ! He would even call the police because people kept parking in front of his shop. He would complain about me at Town Council meetings to try to get me to stop planning these events! He finally just closed his store when we had an event planned. I never did figure this guy out!

I manage a venue in town and I get calls every day from groups who need a place to perform. Sadly, we are so busy I can't accommodate them so a venue that would be open to rental groups, schools, dance studios, musicians, comedy shows, would be a huge hit and would thrive. Open as a rental venue..

In Michigan there are a few retro theaters that actually show older films and they have actual Wurlitzer organs that play the music instead of the actual music from the movie that we are the known to enjoy which is pretty cool because wurlitzer operators are not a dime a dozen. Most recently the Redford theater actually had a Harry Potter event the goblet of fire which was pretty cool to hear that original soundtrack being played through someone who was operating a keyboard and they had an intermission and of course there was some COS players. Safe travels

Does anyone have any photos of the inside? It was the first stadium seating movie theater in the area from what I remember. There were two theaters and you walked down the center of the theater to enter and then walked up the stairs on the side - again really ahead of it's time.

Zemeckis' current project is a Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young documentary - much like the upcoming Peter Jackson Beatles documentary. These epic directors do love a music doc! (Scorsese did "The Last Waltz" for The Band's farewell concert back in the day)

I’ll be moving to the area very soon. My hope is that Front Porch takes it over. Would be neat to see this theater be resurrected after all of this time.

Was just looking where this was on google maps and noticed the building in Celebration Suites near Old Town where I stayed last time I visited Disneyland has been demolished. Can't stop progress.

I see a ton of these smaller theaters that were once bought by AMC or Regal are shut down when they build the mega-theaters nearby

This is what I love about the USA....always looking to move forward, and progression, never wanting to sit still. That is why in my opinion the USA is an amazing country. I kinda feel sad I don't feel that way about my country. Stay safer and much love.

As a American, I do agree with your sentiment! Unfortunately at this time, our country is being dragged down by our distant past and nobody is looking forward. The old post WW2 Ametica was all about the excitement of the future but I believe that's all gone now.

@@Sparty-pi3jq try living in the UK, since the pandemic we have been left behind in pretty much every decision that has been made. Yes our vaccine roll out has been successful but we are still in restrictions and have pretty much stood still.
We also have people in this country saying we should abolish the Royal Family....why? It is part of our history, heritage and tradition....but because outsiders view the Royal Family and British Empire with colonialism and being outdated then we should move on from them.

Large portions of the US are dinosaurville. People stuck in their ways and they don't want change. It's not as progressive as you're imagining.

Always in favour of venues where live music can be experienced. Certainly a big issue here in my part of the world; venues where bands get a start all closing down due to the ongoing restrictions killing the businesses. As enthusiastic visitors to WDW and local area we would certainly support that venue if it reopened. Good luck to them!

I think you should make ‘Adam the Woo - The Movie’. Edit together best moments from your past adventures. Rent out the theater to debut it. Perhaps invite some special guests and do a Q/A after the show. Sell tickets for charity (since you mentioned doing something like that in a previous video).
