I know there are people who are disappointed that we didn't actually get to see Apep, but I honestly loved how they were presented here. It's so ominous but cool. There's something truly unsettling about seeing this massive silhouette in the distance through the sandstorm. Imagine it in person, and how small and insignificant you would feel facing it. I believe keeping their appearance vague was the right way to go here. It preserves that feeling, as well as the mystery surrounding Teyvat's dragons.

Had he killed all the Sovereigns in his 40 year battle, Apep would not be here. The rest of the five original remaining Sovereigns may still be alive for all we know. The Sovereign of Water was confirmed to have perished, but it may have been reborn already as a human, according to legend. There's a good chance Kokomi is this reborn god, too. A theory, but an extremely plausible one.

Apep, the Dendro Dragon”, that Ost is called Empire of Sand Just in case you were still looking for it. I only just completed the quest recently, otherwise I would’ve tried to help earlier haha
