A helpful video with solid content. Thanks Hans. I have learnt valuable information from your channel. I look at a number of European and North American channels, as yet I have not found any Australian Audiophile review channels. I always look forward to your reviews. 👍
Well done. I’m totally on the same page and agree on the proposed “rule of thumb” with respect to budget allocation. But you went the extra mile explaining “why” (e.g. houses construction techniques, “local taste”, etc.). Very good indeed. Digging in you channel now: not sure if you already covered the matter but this could be the beginning for serial spin-off videos on what could match the proposed budgets (e.g. new items, used “oldies but goldies “, DIY, etc. etc.)
4:20 For me, it's all matte silver/chrome front plates. The readability of the indices is often better compared to shiny/high polish finishes and dark finishes, especially with lower/dim lighting in the room.
Some just don't understand you usually get what you pay for. If something is offered at a very good price the first question should be why is it so cheap? Your point about the inclusion of a well recognized part while the rest of the circuit is of suspect provenance is right on the money
I've said it for 40 years now... Audio equipment with good specs can sound bad. But equipment with bad specs can never sound good. I always start with the specs and narrow my choices that way first. Then I listen to each - always trying to compare each side by side or in quick succession - switching back and forth over and over and over until I find some difference. If there is no difference, then go for the cheaper of the two. But yeah - bad specs get eliminated immediately.
Are you willing to consider reviewing the Teufel (Raumfeld) Stereo L 2018 version? And I like to add I am a very regular viewer of all your videos here on youtube. I truly value your aim to stay as objective as ossible to try and help out as many people as possible. Bedankt meneer Beekhuizen.
Great video thank you so much for this content, it is excellent. I particularly liked the way you actually considered that 1k euros might be a high end system for some people and addressed that issue in a practical and considerate manner. It is also refreshing to see a channel dealing with digital audio in a pragmatic manner and to that end might I suggest a couple of topics for a future video? Firstly is Digital Sources, how bitrate and khz affects sound quality and same for, lossy vs. lossless, streaming, etc; personally I think MP3 has little use these days. Secondly graphic equalizers and parametric equalizers seem to be persona non grata in the audiophile world these days but from my admittedly ignorant viewpoint they can enhance or correct minor annoyances in an otherwise decent set-up, perhaps you could educate us on their place (if any) in modern systems?
It seems, from a couple of videos, that you like a high end Chord DAC. I would like to see a review of the Chord Qutest, because I can't afford the one that you have. Thanks
Amp headroom... snake oil or necessity? I have a Focal Sopra 3 powered by a primaluna dialogue HP inte and I get so much negativity about how Im underpowering my speakers and need at least 1000w per channel. Living in a condo, my belief is that I'm only using 5~20watts max as I can't blast my system.
Thank you for yet one more educational video, Hans! My hat is off to you on behalf of all the subscribers of your channel! Personally, I am in search of a pair of speakers which would produce good sound-stage and a definite separation of instruments and singers. Primarily they need to be true to the live, uncolored, un-modified recordings of acoustic instruments and voices. I am one of those nuts who enjoy hearing sheet notes turning by members of the orchestra and swish of their clothes. Can you please suggest a pair of sealed or front-ported floor-standers for a medium size reasonably treated room? I can spend about $5,000 for a truly great pair of such speakers. My DAC is the RME ADI-2 DAC, and my amplifier is Nord One SE NC500DM MKII Dual Mono.
Hans another good and very informative video. I have a question for you that I hope you can help me with. I want to know what you believe to be more important in the chain of a stereo system that I already have high quality speakers as well as separate class AB amplifier, preamplifier with built-in Dac. My question is in continuing with separates is a separate dac more important or a separate streamer ? Thanks in advance.

Only 31K subscribers... what a shame ppl are missing. Hans, thank you from the USA.
You read my mind. Exactly what I was thinking. Audiophiles are missing so much. 👍to Hans. Excellent channel.
Well, make some noise😁. The subscriber number grows with +1k per 28 days for years now, so I am satisfied.
Thanks for the video. You touched on an important point which is the construction of the houses.

The Hans Beekhuyzen Channel 😜
Great Post! Thanks. I would suggest that you review the B&W Formation Duo. This is a breakthrough product!
Zeer goed en realistisch uitgelegd Hans!
Yes hans i respect your work and honest opinions .in this cut throat world
Best advice out there.

very nice advice
The aesthetics commission indeed! haha :) Remember, give them an inch and they'll take a mile!
Then make sure it’s a mile in the right direction 😁
Hi Hans, I’d love to see a review of the recently announced QXR DAC upgrade to the Cyrus amplifiers. Cheers from Australia.
Good Information

I have reviewed the Hugo II which allegedly is about equal to the Qutest. th-cam.com/video/mo7RlAxSWOo/w-d-xo.html

I use the Audio Note Soro SE Phono as amp for my AudioPhysic Scorpio's. And with the tubes I use it only produces 13 watts per channel.

Each chain is as weak as the weakest link so both are equally important.
It is simple really - just spend twice what you can afford...
Not maried?
