    Toooo Cool OLI! Great terrain. You make the 1090 look like a light trail bike. A you definitely opened my eyes to the 1090.

    Great effort on those trails. My dream bike is the 1290SAR, but I would struggle on those trails being 171cm tall, 33" leg and 80kg. Probably leave the 690 Enduro up to that stuff. I do mainly offroad touring these days. The body is wrecked.

    Riding the KTM Canadian Rally (in BC) today and tomorrow, you would do quite well. Impressive riding, and inspiring, looks like I don't have to go so dam far for some great trails.... (from Ontario). I subscribed after watching you ride....and I have a 1090r.... Nice job, Michael

    Just got one of these two days ago. Have very little if any off road experience. Wanted a bigger bike that can do this. Looks like I'm gonna be taking it pretty easy for a while. Coming from a honda cb500x...very different....

    I just rode these trails as an reintroduction to offroading on my 2016 Africa Twin Manual. I was sore for 3 days after 8 hours of riding that monster so this video is PTSD for me lmao. That said, it's a perfect trail system for ADV bikes as it's not too narrow and the singletracks aren't crazy switchbacky. The sand will bite you if you're not willing to send it though.

    Wilderness in Jersey?!..... Must be the Pine Barrens, lol. The only other wilderness(ish) in this state is the NW Highlands but it's hard enough to hike those roots and boulders, let alone dirt bike it. Anyway, I didn't know there was public land you could dirt bike in. I guess that makes at least one fun thing to do in this nanny state.

    • @mototrailz
      @mototrailz  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks a lot. Coming from a R1200GSA i believe in the least electronic possible options. Hence the choice of the 1090R for me. Also the fact that it is lighter (feels way lighter than it actually is). To me the 1290 is a road bike. The 1090R is truly both! Yay!

    Hey Oli, this footage is clearly stabilised in post and the result is fantastic. Especially the ride through the woods is so smooth it makes it actually nice to watch. Would you share which software you used? It looks a bit like it's done with Hyperlapse. Great work!

    • @mototrailz
      @mototrailz  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      prmpfbubub Thanks but i will disappoint you when i say that it is the image stabilization of the gopro hero 5 and nothing more. Coupled with the fact that the sound now is way better since it is not confined in a water proof case. The new gopro 5 is truly stunning and i believe they raised the bar again.

      I think for me, being the size I am and the fact that I will probably be doing some 2up with it, the 790 is going to be a bit on the small side. On the other hand, I don't want to go to something like the 1290 either as I think it would be too big for the type of trail riding I want to be doing.

Woa! Now you really got me thinking, I am just about your height and even when I don't intend to do such a rigorous single track rides, I am still impressed and hesitant by this being such a tall bike. How badly do you think a rookie (at dirt trails) rider 5' 9" and about 32 inch inseam could ride this bike all around including some easier than this adventure trails? I would really appreciate your feedback. riding Yamaha XT-350 now, but would like to have more long haul capabilities.

      Thanks a lot. That day was tough. It depends if you really ride more off-road or not. 1290R is for road in my opinion. The 1090R is great off-road. Probably the best big bike off-road right now. I used to have a 2015 R1200GSA and the GS is easier to pick up because of the cylinder sticking out on the side so the bike does not lay down flat so easier to pick up. But again GS for me was not enough off-road capabilities. On road the GS was excellent however the 1090R is pretty close tho. So overall for me the 1090R because of being so good off-road.
      Finally it is always better to have a friend with you so you can push each other to do things you would not even thing of alone and also because if one crashes the other one has your back. Good luck with your KTM they are excellent bikes!
