- Hi Guys! Seen all the videos of the purse charms, and I decided to give a try too! There are chunky charms, then there are CHUNKY charms lol, mine is def super chunky to go with all my larger purses. Had a great time making these and I think they turned out super cute! Will do a tutorial from start to finish for beginners on how to make these charms if you guys would be interested in that, send me a message or leave a comment below. Sure thing! I am searching now for charms and more supplies to make these, have some ideas that I want to try, beadsfactory and firemountain are just a couple of great places that I love that has charms and bit of everything, Plus I shop other places too when I find deals Like jo'anns, Walmart, Michaels etc. When i finish shopping/place order(s) will be sure to do hauls, and when I do a tutorial I will list where to get items that I used. This is your FIRST one? Oh my goodness, I'm hooked. The purple one had me drooling on my keypad. I love your charms, you definitely have a gift for making these. I was wondering, what did you give up to be able to feed this addiction, Starbucks or shoes? What size pins and wire do you use?
Thanks! Yes my first. Hrmm youtube has been wonky on me so many times, I had replied to this but when I went back to reply to another viewer, did not see my response, so if you get two, pick your fav and ignore the other lol! I gave up sleep mostly lol. I just use any head pins and the wire depends on the bead, I use 20 gauge the most but have used others as well. love the charms but can you hold the charms higher on the frame and longer so we can see the beads
How long do you make you chain to start with? Do you have a size order as to how you put your beads on the chain? Some people put larger ones on the bottom, some do larger in the middle. It looks like your beads are in the same size range. I've got to check to see if you did a tutorial. Love these, thanks for sharing.
Hi there! The chain really all depends on what you want. If you was attaching these to a smaller purse or item then you may want to opt for the shorter length. My purses are pretty big so I go for the bigger size. Some I make around 9 links long some I go for 12 or so. Best advice, look at the item you are wanting to attach them to and choose a length that you would want. (if adding a charm or something at the bottom, factor in that in your length as well) Far as bead sizes, I personally like the larger 8-10mm or so for the things I use my charms with but I do use smaller ones as well. Sometimes when I am using smaller I group them with other beads, either seed beads or 4mms. There are so many ways you can do it, and it all depends on the shape you want. If you like it larger on top then toward the top and down some you would do your larger beads and as you go down go smaller. If you like mostly even through out then use around the same size beads. My personal preference is that I add just a few smaller ones on top to help hide the metal loops, then I use the larger ones and decrease from there in size. Sometimes I like to change and just switch things up to see what I come up with. Handy thing to do is just sketch out the shape you want, where it is more narrow, add smaller, and the wider areas, larger, just play around with it, and you can always move the beads around if something just don't look right. (I do that a lot, sometimes an area may look to bare so I switch it up until I get the desired look I am wanting) Hope this helps! A bit wordy but hope it helps explain. Will be doing a few more charm tutorials, needing to zoom in a bit so everyone can see better, plus I love making them lol. Thanks for stopping by! =)
