- Since 1898, the german city of Frankfurt (Oder) is served by electric trams. Today, there are five lines on a 20-kilometer network, though lines 3 and 5 don't run on weekends.
Other than eight low-floor cars of the Adtranz GT6M type, the rolling stock still consists of 15 Tatra KT4D trams. In contrast to most other german cities, they were only slightly modernised and kept their accelerator control and the classic doors. The KT4Ds will be replaced by new trams in the near future.

Another excellent video Chris.
I was wondering, where did you get the information that the Tatras will be replaced by new trams soon? Because usually Frankfurt only gets the trams that other cities lay off, thats why there are still so many Tatras in use
I think you're confusing something: The Tatra KT4D, as well as the GT6M were delivered directly to Frankfurt. Other than the rail grinding tram from Berlin, there aren't any second-hand trams in service.
Frankfurt ordered new Škoda trams which should arrive in a few months. You can find pictures and news articles on the internet.
@@TramChris Ohhh yea i remember that now. I watched a DVD that came directly from the SVF and there it was said that Frankfurt only gets laid off trams because it‘s such a small city that it‘s technically not allowed to have a tram network, but maybe that changed
@@Angelthewolf Frankfurt was much bigger in GDR and mainly the tracks to Markendorf and Neuberesinchen were build in the 80ies. Frankfurt got a lot of Gotha-Trams from other countries till the first Tatras arrived
how do you make the line map in the intro? Which map do u use?
I made the maps myself using Inkscape.
