Thanks man, I really focused a lot of sound design and a more consistent color grade. It is also nice with the new camera that I can rely on auto focus to accomplish a few things I otherwise couldn't have ever done.
Awesome safety tips, Rick! My first try with a table saw (just a week or two ago) resulted in injury, so it's important to go over those tips for beginners for sure. Great project!
Thanks so much Sarah. I always have to remind myself to be super conscious of safety with the camera running and so many things going on in the shop while I work. Any spinning blade tool needs all of your intention when you're using it.

I have not tried any new feature. Im lucky that I can just string together a couple of clips. I dont know the first thing about all the features and tricks you can do with it.

Hi, you can use painters tape doubled up on both sides of the blade if you dont have a zero clearance insert available. Actually just used that method on mine for the small rips that were getting caught between the blade. Very dangerous otherwise. Try it and let me know if it works for you. Hey I really enjoyed the video I've been in a funk and really interested in going out to the garage and making Man glitter "sawdust" but this video made me perk up and think to myself hey that looks fun I should try that!! I enjoyed the music also thanks again
Thanks Dylan, really made my day. Thanks for the comment. Go out and make some sawdust sometimes picking off a few easy projects is a good way to build some momentum. PRO TIP: Every difficult project is just a bunch of easy projects strung together...
It was so easy! This is the second time I have done this design, I liked the long grain better than the end grain from last time. You could probably make one on a CNC in 3 hours, but so much sawdust to cleanup...

oh hell ya, but Shou Sugi Ban really takes best to White Oak though, so I would build it out of White Oak if I were going to do that. The dark color might take away some from the shadow lines though so YMMV.
Use wide blue tape for an emergency zero clearance insert. Just apply the tape over the existing insert opening in one long strip, then raise the blade to the height you need for the cuts you are making.
Please list all supplies used in your projects in the description. I'm new to wood working and it would help a lot! Even stains, length of nails or screws ect. for future videos.
@@WoodWorkLIFE I figured that you used math :), but how did you calculate for the pieces? Did you lay out a pattern of what you wanted and then calculate from there?
Good question, I answered it in the blog post but it didn't make it into the voice over. I used loctite power grab so that I didn't have to clamp or nail anything as I went, you just press it in and it stays until it is dry.
Would have liked a nude stain, or just clear coat, to let the natural shape of the wood create its own shadows and contrast rather than try to force something with walnut stain.. but.. still looks neat.
dont do this kids... AHAHA dont joke with me, im a 14 yr old with a workshop only problem is that it's on the 2nd floor and it's only 10 by 12 ft, which makes everything waaaaay harder

Looks good! Do you think you could apply the Shou-sugi-ban finishing technique to this? Possibly for an outdoor patio piece.

They are all 2x6 slices at .5" 1" 1.5" and 2" I don't remember how many there were.

Why did you use construction adhesive instead of wood glue? Awesome art btw, love it!
because construction adhesive doesn't REQUIRE clamping. It also has tack when it is wet so the pieces don't shift around as much.

Well, that didn't pan out...such an unfortunate choice of stain.
Everybody's a critic. Honestly though, feel free to stain it a different color, or not stain it at all with a water based poly.
