Give your Canadian houses on rent and live a luxury life in Dubai...... that's my opinion
    Benefits.....in Dubai are
    1. near to India
    2. Luxury life
    3. safest city
    4. all kinds of food availability
    5. night life
    6. lower cost of living

I do find it funny that people - and by that I mean Indians - ttry to compare a whole country like India, US, Canada or Australia with Dubai. The UAE also has Sharjah & Abu Dhabi and is not just the shopping capital of the world.

Agree, but many people don’t know about UAE, that’s why everyone mention Dubai for the sake of understanding.. if u saw our first video of Dubai series, nobody in Amy’s class knew about Dubai also.. UAE is famous in Asian side of people..have met many people here who don’t even know that Dubai is an emirate in a country

First of all really nice analysis.. The very fact that so many people who have moved out of Dubai, reconsider coming back is in itself talks about what they have been missing out on life and the values bought in by Dubai. I don’t think anyone moving to Dubai from another big city would even compare going back once settled in Dubai.
    Few facts
    1. Dubai gives you the privilege of enjoying life on a much wider time - you can go out doing your grocery shopping/ dine out / night life, etc at late night hours that too with the best security in the world. So you have a much better outdoor life
    2. You also have the privilege of enjoying better social life by getting domestic help that frees up your work on domestic chores. I am sure many of us with kids and both parents working need that extended help.
    3. Work life balance mainly depends on where you work, how well you manage work. It totally depends on your role and skillset
    4. Most important aspect is kids being settled and as a parent you never want to disrupt that. After 12 standard, kids anyways is going to settle down on thier own with a college system. When at job, Doesn’t really matter where are we based at that time. They will have thier own home, social life, etc. Just like we immigrants / NRIs are settled with parents in India.
    3.

Welcome back, Amy, Shilpa, and Amit! You all are amazing-thank you for going above and beyond to show us Dubai. Your openness and willingness to share have been incredibly helpful, giving my family a perspective that truly resonates with your family's mindset. We also wanted to share how much we love Canada and truly feel it’s probably the best country. While economics is important, it’s not the only measure that defines a place. Feeling at home matters, and Canada feels like home to us as well. Keep up the fantastic work!

Hi Shilpa and Amit, Thank you for giving us your reasons about not moving back to Dubai. I agree with everything you said, especially as a person who grew up in Dubai, who went to university in Canada and later went back to Dubai. My kids were born there and went to school for a few years there until we moved to Canada. It has been 8 years since we have been here, and I don't see myself moving back for the same reasons. My kids like their life here. In my heart, Dubai will always be home because that is where I grew up, but Canada is my home, too.

Completely agree with you both after living in Dubai for 20 years and moving to the UK I do feel that there is more to life then just tax free salary. Education is top notch and agree with diversity as well, work-life balance. Plus a big one is freedom of speech. I still love Dubai but would struggle to find a compelling reason to move back.

"there's more to life than just tax free salary"
You said it best. A friend of mine likes to say "tax free slavery"
I too was taken in by the glitter of Dubai 20 years ago. Soon the reality set in. All the glitter gave way to the realization of a crass life with only one goal in life: making money. The making money in Dubai comes at the cost of giving up on so many other things in life. Migrated to Canada about 15 years ago. I don't regret the decision. Canada is not for everyone. I know of people who are not happy here. But I enjoy a fuller, meaningful life, for sure. Now my earnings are also more than what I could have attained had I remained in Dubai. Of course, not everything is rosy here in Canada. But on balance, the pros far outweigh the cons. I don't miss Dubai lifestyle at all. I do visit or transit through Dubai once in a couple of years to meet friends and relatives. Lately, some of these friends and relatives are finding it harder to maintain the same lifestyle they had until few years ago. They are looking at options of migrating to a western country.

I was also researching on moving back to India/dubai, at the end looking at the work culture it was difficult for us to move to these countries, ultimately decided to stay put in this well settled country at least for next 12 years when my son starts university, been here since 15 years. I hope with time things will change in Canada for better, better turnaround time in medical and hopefully government opens up more manufacturing business!!

I was in canada for 5 years and moved to dubai and i love it here!
Weather is still better where you can be outdoors for 8 months as compared to 4 months in Canada. From oct to may you can walk outdoors (it is 21 degrees now)
    Safest place
    No taxes
    Close to South Asian culture
Alot of diversity, depends on the area you live in
Cheaper than Canada (gas, groceries) viva, nesto are way cheaper than Carrefour or spinneys just like no-frills and Costco are cheaper than loblaws or sobeys in canada
    Close to India / Pakistan
No so-called woke ideology taught in schools
    No drugs
We-based culture as compared to an individualistic society
    Best healthcare
    Best infrastructure
    Cheaper tickets
Worklife balance depends on the employer..(my husband had zero worklife balance in Canada) as compared to uae
Kids make friends and adjust faster than you think they would...so dont worry about that
Also after 18 the kids will have their own life anyway and there is no guarantee that your child will study in canada in the same city as yours
Keh diya na bus keh diya :)

@MalikaM: "Weather is still better where you can be outdoors for 8 months as compared to 4 months in Canada"
Actually, it's the other way around. If you are in BC, Southern Ontario or Southern Quebec (where most of the population is) you can be outdoors comfortably 8 months of the year. During the 4 months of winter, you can still enjoy outdoors if you're dressed for the weather and elements. On the other hand, the brutal sun and heat in gulf countries keeps you indoors for 8 months of the year. You get relief only in the remaining 4 months.
As long as you are dressed warm and bundled up, you can manage even if it's artic cold. But the heat is something else. You can strip only so many clothes!

My in-laws have been here in California for 50 years (Nuclear Engineer/School Psychologist)., Once they retired, they had to seriously downgrade their lifestyle. Dubai is not a bad option. Having learnt from my in-laws experience, we have invested in a home in Dubai. Also, work-life balance is again a mindset. I work 16 hours daily in my business and love it. It is a personal choice, I guess. The only thing I will advise is that Canada is no different from California. Don't look at now look at your future/old age/retirement. Good luck with everything you decide to do!

Just imagine how even it’s possible that after living 10 years in Dubai you are able to afford to buy two properties in Canada. It’s not depending on you sole income in Canada that’s BS after all. But even after 6 years and investing so much in your mid forty you’re thinking to move back to Dubai. There’s no need to even explain deep down your heart you know you’re stuck and completely lost in Canada. I sold my condo and moved back to my hometown I am not saying it’s the best place and choice for me but definitely I am very lucky and happy I didn’t invest that much in Canada after living 6 years got my passport that’s it.

Few points are contradictory to many ppl : I have never worked in Dubai after 4 pm, no weekend work.
120K for 3BDR in decent community is good rent. In 2015 I have paid 95000 for 1 BDR in decent community.
IB school starts from AED 3000 and onwards.
Savings are great as no income taxes.
Roaming around world is great from Dubai.
Upcoming new university campuses are promising for higher education
Healthcare - no dispensing fees , no waiting’s atleast.
Ppl live in cluster who want to live in , there are many mixed communities.
Also, you forgot to mention about 1 month paid leave with tickets to home country and no limit to explore job opportunities.

Thanks for sharing your experiences. I would like to add, If you move to Dubai you still have to pay taxes in Canada, unless you sever all ties with Canada. Severing your ties with Canada could include: Selling your property in Canada. Closing Canadian bank accounts. Disposing off personal property. Breaking social ties in Canada. In short cutoff all ties, except Canadian passport, and declare yourself non resident Canadian.

Wow! Bahot achha video hai. I think both of you and I are in the same boat of dilemma and then we arrive at a conclusion of sticking around in Canada.
And as usual, mera mile-long lambaa comment jo mujhe maaloom hai koi nahin padhega. 😆😅 Lekin kya karoon? Dubai ka naam sunke rahaa nahin jaata.
Location 00:50 Shilpaji and Amitji aapne 2~3 baar Dubai/UAE ki tax free salary ka zikr kiyaa hai. Main aapko bataata chaloon ki as a Canadian PR Holder or a Canadian citizen you are supposed to file your tax returns every year (just like any resident of Canada) and declare your entire income earned anywhere in the world. It means if you work outside of Canada, you will still be liable to pay federal and provincial taxes on your employment or business income. Aapko poora tax dena padegaa because there's no tax treaty between Canada and UAE. Mere kehne ka matbal hai ki Dubai mein tax free salary nahin hai hum jaise logon ke liye. One way or the other, tax to denaa hi padega.
Aap jo yahaan Kanedda mein tax dete hain, uske badley mein aapko free education, free library service, free language courses, and free healthcare miltaa hai (MRI, complicated heart, eye, or liver surgeries, poora pregnancy ka duration and then delivery, even heart transplant and cancer ki chemotherapy treatment, dialysis etc) - sab free. Aap Dubai mein kisi bhi free cheez ka tasavvur bhi nahin kar sakte. Dubai income par Canada mein tax bharo, aur sab services ke liye Dubai mein bahot paise pay karo. Matbal tax ki vasooli nahin ho paati. Ye to ghaate ka sauda hai.
Shilpaji Canada mein employers usually RRSP retirement plan ya Pension plan mein match dete hain, (matbal free ke paise, retirement security, and tax bhi kam), Canadian Government RESP match deti hai, private companies usually Employee Share Plan mein free shares dete hain. Retirement ke baad aapko Canada Pension Plan ke tehat har mahine pension aur Old Age Security ke paise bhi milte hain Federal Government ki taraf se. These benefits are unthinkable in the UAE.
Location 13:58 Work Life Balance to Dubai mein hai hi nahin. Aap kaam kar kar ke mar jaao and your employer wouldn't care. He will hire another person for half the salary he paid you in just 2 minutes from India/Pakistan/Sri Lanka/The Philippines. My personal experience: yahaan Kanedda mein bosses tell their direct reports ki main 5:00 pm ke baad aapki shakal nahin dekhnaa chaahtaa office mein. Go home and spend time with your family. Agar overtime kiyaa bhi to uske paise milte hain. Oopar se 2 din ka weekend is an icing on the cake.
Shilpaji unlike Canada, Dubai ki society healthy nahin hai. There are different sets of rules and justice systems for UAE nationals, GCC citizens, White caucasians, Muslims and ghurbat ke shikaar South Asians, non-Muslims. I will just leave it at that. Aur phir har roz ka noise pollution gets to you (if you know what I mean). Canada mein racism bahot bahot subtle, nahin ke baraabar hai, kyonki qavaneen bahot sakht hain. UAE mein to racism openly hotaa hai. Canada mein everyone is equal. Yahaan ke PM ko bhi traffic ticket miltaa hai.
Maine Dubai, aur Tokyo mein bahot arsaa bitaaya hai. Both these cities are excellent for tourists. But both these beautiful cities can be compared with an iceberg. Samandar mein tairtaa hua ek khoobsurat sa iceberg sirf 10% hi dikhtaa hai, 90% paani ke neeche submerged hotaa hai. Glittering Dubai and world-class and rich culture ka Japan are exactly like that. Only the awe-inspiring, beautiful, and majestic 10% is visible, the greedy, nasty, racist, sad, and unjust 90% is submerged and invisible. Vahaan kuchh saal rehne se hi aapke 14 taabak roshan hote hain.
My decison is working out for me. Canada ki natural beauty enjoy karo, bahot mehnat karke paise kamaao, aur retirement ke baad Canadian passport par bahot travelling karo. Ho sakey to Dubai, Nice (southern France), ya Tokyo/Kyoto/Osaka mein ek vacation home khareed kar repeating cycle mein 3 mahine udhar aur 3 mahine idhar Toronto mein, aaraam se guzaaro. Best of both worlds.

If you want easy access to world , you need to live in dubai. Do you have maid in canada? We can have maid in dubai, we have personal driver, Do you know how much it cost us? We don’t wash our utensils . We spend those time in our work and socialise with our friend every day

It's not about easy access to the world but rather exploiting those who are less privileged. Do you think having a maid, a personal driver, or never washing your own dishes is a permanent luxury? Just wait until those maids' or drivers' children get educated and achieve the same or higher income levels than you. Take my story as an example: my father used to drive an auto-rickshaw in India, and my mother was a homemaker who struggled to provide my brother and me with an education. Thanks to their hard work, both of us are now in Canada, thriving in our respective lives. Yes, we wash our own dishes, drive ourselves, and cook our own meals-and we don’t have to worry about visas expiring or returning to India with kids if our jobs end!

Are you a globetrotter? Even if you are, I don't see being in Dubai such a huge advantage (Singapore and a few other cities could make that claim too). From Canada, the US is much closer and easier to reach. Major European countries are about 6 hours by plane. Sunny Caribbean is only a few hours away by plane. I don't see the advantage, unless your "world" is India or one of the other S. Asian countries.
@RashidShaikh: "we can have have maid in dubai"
Sure, have a maid to do your household chores but toil at work like a slave for long hours. The life of your "maid" in the Middle East and S. Asian countries generally connotes another meaning: human exploitation. These maids are NOT paid decent wages or treated as human beings with self worth. You can get away with it because laws in Dubai and in the Middle East not only allow such exploitation but often encourages it. It's the only way many are affording a maid (there may be few rare exceptions). Animals enjoy better life than maids in these countries. Such exploitation is not possible in Canada (or in the western world). Even affluent families don't employ maids here. People here don't mind doing their own chores and spending more time with their family.
      @RashidShaikh: "we have personal driver"
This too is like having a maid. In Dubai, you could find some unfortunate individuals desperate to earn a living for hire as personal drivers.
@RashidShaikh: "We don't wash our utensils"
You don't have to wash by hand if you don't want to. Dishwashers and Washing machines (for clothes) are common in almost every household here. But when did washing your own dishes become beneath your dignity?
I think this pretty much sums up your personal values (and that of people like you) and your approach to life. With such attitudes, you are better off staying in the Middle East. You won't be able to adapt to life in Canada or in a western country. The culture and lifestyle here is different. It's definitely a do-it-yourself society. Also, people here like doing things on their own when they can - fixing things up, painting the house, working around the house or in the yard, making things, etc. Even those who can afford to hire someone else, choose to do themselves because they take pride in doing things or accomplishing something on their own. It's not unusual for CEOs or corporate heads to drive their own vehicle, make their own coffee in the office, or walk to the printer to make copies. Executives and senior managers freely mingle with low level employees, sit with them at the same table for lunch.
@RashidShaikh: "We spend those time in our work and socialise with our friend every day"
Right. Spending more time at work is the definition of the "good life" you have over there. Socializing with friends every day? That may be out of necessity since your opportunities for leisure activities are pretty slim.
In Canada, when someone has a personal driver or a maid, it's not a "master-slave" relationship like in the Middle East or India. Rather, it's a "employer-employee" relationship. The employer doesn't look down upon their driver or maid. Their rights are not infringed upon. Labor of every kind is appreciated, valued and properly compensated.
Your snobbish lifestyle isn't going to last forever. You will have to say goodbye to your pseudo life there one day. Until then, enjoy while the less fortunate ones are still around to be exploited. The Arabs exploit on the basis of skin color, nationality and sometimes religion. You, in turn, exploit your own kind because of their misfortune. But times are changing though.

    Great analysis!
I think the biggest Point here is that if you're already a millionaire then Dubai or a low tax Haven is the right place for you to move to. But if you're middle class, then there isn't a point to move.
I always feel there is paralysis by analysis ESPECIALLY by every South Asian of constantly evaluating where should they live. Once and for all - like you guys just make a decision and stick to it. There is benefit to consistency where you build up your wealth, your network, your family Roots Etc and you start to grow fom there.
I feel most South Asians are constantly stuck about the next best opportunity that they close down roots in one area and then regrow them in another area. At the end of the day they're just left with a history of moving but not history of staying in one place and bo genuine happiness or fulfillment.
I think great decision and choice!
For those living in Dubai nothing wrong with your decision but stick to it and stay there.
Here the high school system is quite tough at least i feel it

We tend to ignore retirement benefits of CPP contributions and old age security pension. More you stay in Canada and contribute, the benefits rise up. UAE doesn't have social security tie ups with Canada.
Of course this is not applicable if you never want to retire in Canada.
But is the life of 75 year oldies attractive in India?

Hi Nidhi, as we were talking about maintaining the same lifestyle, we deliberately left the topic of maid as we don’t use this service quite often here for years.. though if you convert the cost of maid and cook services in Dubai, it won’t be more than CAD 500 a month (given its not a live in maid).. It was not the deciding factor for us at all since the start so we didn’t touch this point as this video is based on what were deciding factors for us..

@@chitchatwithshilpa i guess the question is not just about the cost, but more in terms of flexibility and free up time it offers to manage other aspects of life .. dedicate more quality time with kids, socialize better, more free up time to talk to family.. No offence to doing personal chores by self. We love occasional cooking, house clean ups, etc. We are twin kids parents and both working, so this is one of the strongest parameters in many like to like scenarios..

So we do have a business in dubai which market is so small but we just go and visit every 6 months and my daughter turned red she was sick because she couldn’t bear heat and she used to cry and she is only 2 years old still couldn’t cope up with heat and schooling is very expensive and houses in discovery and Furjan for 3 bed is 150-180 and overly crowded. Do you think those millions living in countries such as Canada, Northern Europe, Russia, etc. are deficient in vitamin D? Hardly!

You can move to hindurashtra, why a islamic Country is chosen?

    • @rohitsharma-e8h
      @rohitsharma-e8h 22 วันที่ผ่านมา

Sure, you can move to hindurashtra. But why? Millions of inhabitants are ditching this hindurashtra every year. Ironic, isn't it? Despite the steady diet of hindutva fed to us in the last decade or so, increasing numbers of us are opting to leave. We are fleeing to the same islamic and western countries that we earnestly despise and disparage. Modi and gang have promised us a hindu utopia. They have been busy building it ever since. In the meantime, if we need jobs, education, or a better life for ourselves and our children, we have to find it in the countries we denigrate so passionately. More than ten years of virulent hindutva has instilled in us two things: victimhood and an inferiority complex.
Victimhood - we figured out that blaming the mughals whose rule ended over 250 years ago and blaming the Brits who left us more than 77 years ago will somehow lift us up from our backwardness as a nation and solve all our problems. Only a depraved hindu mindset could have come up with this brilliant strategy.
Inferiority complex - in spite of comprising at least 80% of the population, we cast ourselves as the minority and demonize the actual minorities for every problem in the country, real and imagined. To win elections and to stay in power, constant vilification of minorities has become a necessary tool. We lash out at religious minorities, as if they oppress the majority hindus, about 80% of India's population. The increase in muslim population since independence is roughly 3%. The overall Christian population is about the same as it was at the time of independence: under 3%. This is not what you would hear from right wing extremists and politicians, or from the media that is largely aligned with them in the past one decade.
We take with us the same victimhood mentality and inferior mindset even when we go abroad or settle there. Hindus have done really well for themselves outside of India than when they were in India. By every measure, hindus and indians in general, are the highest income earners in the countries they settled in. Along with Jews, we are the most financially successful group of people anywhere in the world. But unlike the Jews, we like to bitch and moan about religious discrimination, victimization, etc., all the while being successful and enjoying the good life. It's somehow in our hindu DNA to constantly complain and to find villains to blame for the perceived wrongs done to us. The complaining and blaming is spearheaded by a particular caste of hindus, who were the architects of India's caste system. In an effort to keep their dominance, they try to hoodwink moderate and secular hindus by rewriting India's history.
