It's inspiring when a maker has such a strong visual style that it comes across no matter the project. Everything Laura makes, even the most functional stuff looks distinctly Laura Kampf, and it makes me want to focus more on putting a personal touch on the thing I make myself.
She has a consistent material palette (brass, steel, recycled wood) and she always goes the extra mile to make things look nice. All of her projects are visually appealing and functional, and it makes for a rewarding end product. I hope one day my projects will end up half as refined lol
You put a smile on ALL of our faces out here watching you design and create! Thank you for sharing your incredible skills! Your editing is also second to none! You're now our favorite You tube channel!!! ❤
Smudo has to be the most spoilt puppy on youtube :D Love the build, I'm working out a similar idea for an old mini, this has given me some inspriation :D
You could expand on the phone holder's utility by routing a recess into the back of the top deck, and install a wireless charging pad. Wire it into the 12v and the whole time your phone is in the cradle, it's getting topped up.
I watch so many creator channels on TH-cam: Diresta, April Wilkerson, Ben Uyeda, Modern Builds, Make Something, Izzy Swan, and a hundred others (and I love them all), but Laura's artistry and aesthetic sense-and OMG, the production/editing skills!-are just miles ahead of everyone else. Laura, we appreciate your hard work so much!
I love solving annoying problems by creating something. No matter how small it is, it changes a daily frustration into something that brings a smile to your face every time you use it. Your daily quality of life just got a little better
Volt meter, phone holder, cup holders, and a storage bin, and not to forget that awesome map light! This is so many useful features packed into one, it really heightens the quality of life I'm sure.
that lid you made with those little pieces of wood is the coolest idea ive seen.. i have a 1969 javelin i have to make a center console for it ....and im going to borrow your Idea ....that was awesomme
I don’t press subscribe very often…but the joy radiating from this project makes it way too easy! I’m an inventor…when I’m not inventing, I’m watching bad news on the phone. This is a healthy substitute! Btw…I actually need to build a console too. Your joy gets me over the motivation line.
Thanks Laura, now I have no excuses left. I’ve been putting it off for 15 years to put a centre console in my T5. I guess I better do it now now. Great design, that will put a smile on your face face every time you get in the van. 👍👍👍👍👍
Laura....your smile is genuine and contagious. When you smile....I can't help but smile as well. You're proud of your accomplishments as you should be. You're so talented. Thanks for another wonderful video.
Very Nice! You may want to ad some scrap neoprene (or something else that can be washed off easily} to the bottoms of the cup holders to catch drips and minimize rattles.
This is great. You could also add a wireless charger on the backside of the wood where your phone is sitting, so you can charge the phone without a cable while driving.
This is just awesome! So many people think they can’t fix things in their lives but you show us all the time that a little can-do attitude goes a long way. Keep up the good work
I am mesmerized by the passion that you put into your projects. Most people would go to their local auto parts and accessories store and purchase a cup holder. Yours is next level genius. If I lived anywhere near you, I would want to be your apprentice. Well maybe 20 years ago 😁. Anyway, great job, that console is everything. Side note, I get tickled pink whenever I see your “ let glue dry “ signs.
I did enjoy watching this video, Laura. You are absolutely correct. A building project that solves a problem is the best type of project, by far. Your creativity and skill are a complete joy to watch. Thanks for sharing this video with us.
You are incredibly talented. I found your channel as researching ideas for my little cargo trailer. I have stayed because of your high level of craftsmanship and well produced videos! The centre console box you have created demonstrates and showcases your skills in woodwork, metalwork, electrical knowledge and design. Fantastic.
My first thought was to copper-plate the stainless steel, but now that I've seen the black, it's a much better match for the rest of the console. Super cool look to the project and highly functional. Thanks for sharing!
Clocking all your screws the same way definitely satisfied my OCD :) I wonder if where your phone sits, if you made that bar a little thicker (front to rear), could you embed a USB-C connector to charge your phone? You'd set your phone down, then slide it slightly backwards to mate it into the connector. Or maybe embed a Qi charger, if your phone supports wireless charging.
Excellent work with super-slick outcome! Love the Ballistol mixing station. (Glad no Irish Engineer this week!) TIGing Stainless Steel with Lincoln - You Da' Boss, my friend!!!
Laura, from the moment I began watching this video, the smile on your face said it all; I knew you were very happy with the outcome of this project. And you should be, it turned out great! Excellent work!
Always waiting for your lovely (satisfaction) smile at the end :) "there is nothing more rewarding that building stuff that solves your problem" ❤️❤️❤️ enjoy your new console Laura. Have a nice end of day
Laura, my friend, you absolutely crushed this build. I love the fact that you constantly come up with some really cool and helpful modifications. Your attention to detail is always impressive. Thanks for sharing. Felix
I love your channel. There are a lot of women who make stuff on TH-cam which is great. You're one of the few I've seen that actually fabricate solutions and be so creative and damned talented. I love it when you woman handled that piece of metal and bent it. Fantastic reminder of how badass women are. Keep up the great work sister xo
That is great!! Really amazing job and you can see it on your face from the smile it brings you! Maybe next step could be a wireless charger underneath so when you put your phone there it automatically charges ???
This is a stunning piece of design and building. Amazing. I think the only thing I would have done is to keep the metal unpainted. You did such an amazing job on the welds and finishing that it was a shame to cover that up. But it’s still amazing and looks beautiful. Well done
Omg! You are incredible! It's not my console for my vehicle, but I am so proud and happy for you! Mine is "missing" and I have been meaning to try and make one out of wood. Fantastic job, Laura!
Ich weiß nicht warum aber ich finde so große Kippschalter super. Die sollten öfter verbaut werden. Man hat jedes Mal das Gefühl man würde Triebwerke starten oder sowas 👮🛫
Wow always like seeing what you make. the horrible cupholder in some cars is real. This project came out so well. So much function love the black and wood as well.
Wann habe ich das letzte Mal jemanden gesehen, der Rundkopf-Messingschrauben mit Schlitz verarbeitet hat?? Sieht fast aus wie auf einer klassischen Motorjacht! Klasse!
I really love this project. I was really distracted by that fantastic metal work table though. That’s a real beauty! Also best wishes on the house. It is so lovely to my eyes, and I’m sure it will reward every gram of effort you put into it.
I have to say this before commenting… “Smart Haus Licht aus, Licht an, aus, an aus, an “🔥🚒🚨 was a Great way to start a Sunday👍🏻😉👍🏻 Now to the comment, as usual some great inspiration in your designs, I love the mixture in materials used, well done 👍🏻 Have a great 🕯 advent
It’s awesome! I would make one change (which I thought you did it when I saw the screenshot): put a wireless charger under the cellphone (you might have to make cut a circle and cover it with a (veneer??) and support the charger from underneath!
I was loving the entire build but when the flex lamp showed up I grinned like a fool. So dang handy and lovely!
It's inspiring when a maker has such a strong visual style that it comes across no matter the project. Everything Laura makes, even the most functional stuff looks distinctly Laura Kampf, and it makes me want to focus more on putting a personal touch on the thing I make myself.
That is the best compliment ever!!

I agree. Another maker whose works are instantly recognizable is Uri Tuchman. You should check him out.

I bet that's what the notch out of the bottom is for, to run a charging cable to the port.
Great idea.
It's right!
More than solving problems, I would say bringing joy to our daily needs !!! Congrats for another piece of art 👏🍻

I'm absolutely building a Honda Element version! The light is brilliant, must include! Hats off to Laura!

I enjoy more when you explain what you're doing as you go along. This was an excellent piece of work, such wonderful skill and creativity.
Super Mittelkonsole!❤️
So eine fehlt Joel noch in seinem Camper.😎

Brava!! A delight, every time you step into the vehicle. What an elegant and satisfying solution.
Not many things can be called perfect, but this fits the need, and the space perfectly! Thank you Laura!🐝🤗❤️

I love to see anyone take the initiative to create or do work wether they have the skills or not. You built a fine console.
Well done! From a Maltese who lives in New Zealand and also lived in Mannheim for 8 years
My first thought was to copper-plate the stainless steel, but now that I've seen the black, it's a much better match for the rest of the console. Super cool look to the project and highly functional. Thanks for sharing!
Keep smiling Laura, you deserve it, you're the greatest.
I’ve realized, between the project, your positivity, Smudo, and dem beats, that these videos are good for my mental health.
Building stuff that you use on a daily basis is the best type of projects!
The brass looks so classy!
That came out really nice ! I love your hands, you clearly aren't a TH-cam poser with someone else doing the work off camera.
always nice when a solved “problem “ actually turns out way better then you hoped for , great job

Brilliant!!! I don´t think i ever have been watching a video from you without learning something. Thank you Laura!!
It made me smile too. So did Smudo all cozy by the fire. Thanks for sharing.
Your centre console has a letherman holder and adjustable mood lighting. This is next level
Excellent work with super-slick outcome! Love the Ballistol mixing station. (Glad no Irish Engineer this week!) TIGing Stainless Steel with Lincoln - You Da' Boss, my friend!!!
❤️❤️❤️
I don't know how you do it !
Most excellent, with thought for all needs while driving. Kudos !!!
There’s no way I could do this - but it was a joy watching you do this. 😊
Really cool!
Smudo`s help is priceless. Good and incredible work.
I'm always a little surprised how useful glue remains in big projects beyond kindergarten art time. Go glue!
Laura, from the moment I began watching this video, the smile on your face said it all; I knew you were very happy with the outcome of this project. And you should be, it turned out great! Excellent work!
You are truly an inspiration. Thank you for sharing your creativity.
The Center Console came out perfect! Functional and pretty ~ you made a winner!
The vintage vibes (Crap, stuff I grew up with is vintage now...) are spot on. And the goose neck lamp is awesome :)
THese are some of the very best maker videos on this channel - love this stuff.
Hey Automobile industry guys! Must watch this video!
Always waiting for your lovely (satisfaction) smile at the end :) "there is nothing more rewarding that building stuff that solves your problem" ❤️❤️❤️ enjoy your new console Laura. Have a nice end of day

Puts a smile on my face, too!! Most secure cup holder I've ever seen :)
This whole project made my heart sing. 😊 Love all your work and sharing your skills.
WOWOWOWOWOW! You crushed it, nailed it, knocked it outta the park!! Hands down my favorite piece you've done. Keep it up!
Awesome!!!! Really clever and well executed. You might consider using a red bulb in your lamp to preserve your night vision.
This is why I love your work. There’s always so much passion and joy in it. 😊
Wow, so schön. Praktisch, Retro und modern in einem.
Turned out beautiful. Make stuff that makes you happy!

Love it love it love it! What a great piece of design. It’s got a brilliant 70’s look to it. 👍
One of your best builds. I love it.
I love it!. It's like it came out of the factory. Luxurious!
Looks like a high end car console... It just belongs there. Very nice work and very neat idea!
That is cool, I love it when people customize they're car by themselves. They're ideas are so cool. Great job love it 👍
Genius. Very clever design. It's a true pleasure to watch it all come together. Great work!
WOW!!!! Suddenly my jeep needs a new console. Great job!!!!
Beautiful work. I'm even starting to understand your fascination with black!
Absolutely retro stunning. Longer the pink cup... Maybe I would have put a wireless charger under the phone. Your problem solving and ideas are cool.
Seriously, YOU'RE A GENIUS!!
the wood with the brass accents was a very nice choice
Great idea, Excellent Result! Great feeling every time your in the car!
it turned out very nice. hope you get great use out of it Laura. keep up the great craftsmanship and hard work. keep making. god bless.
Simply put, you are a genius Laura.😎
Very good project. One idea: put a wireless charger pad under the phone placeholder, and the charging no need cable.
Ich weiß nicht warum aber ich finde so große Kippschalter super.
Die sollten öfter verbaut werden.

Dang gurl!
Laura, this piece is incredible. Solid work.

Hope the car designers are watching. Especially love the compass I never know what direction I’m going in!!! Very clever design!!!
The project seems more interesting than the previous one. It is more functional. And this Leatherman at hand ...;)
Such an amazing, beautiful and useful work of art!
Very classy!
Waw! Very Nice build and you integrated it perfectly to the car
Love the map light addition.
I really love this project. I was really distracted by that fantastic metal work table though. That’s a real beauty! Also best wishes on the house. It is so lovely to my eyes, and I’m sure it will reward every gram of effort you put into it.

Don’t kick yourself too much for not doing it six years ago :) it came out so functional and gorgeous! Smudo says it needs a treat dispenser though :)
Just such a great video to watch, good choice of background music too! Great stuff Laura 👍😁👌
çok kullanışlı ve güzel bir konsol oldu. verdiğin fikir için teşekkürler.

I just love your style. Incredible work and lovely result! Thanks for sharing 😊
This installation makes me wish my car hadn't got a centre console. I want one like this so bad now. Well done
That is just AWESOME!! Thank you for sharing this project. It was fascinating to watch!
