"Gonna give you every inch of my love"....Yeah, I wonder what he meant by 'whole lotta love. 😁 This song is a banger!
you never know what to expect from Zeppelin-part of what made them so incredible.
Zeppelin is in a lot of categories. Sometimes all at once. One of the many aspects of their greatness.
This is like a psychedelic party in your ears with headphones. I think, just my opinion, is that this reference to backdoor man is that in the late 60s when these lyrics were written it meant this...... Her husband comes home through the front door while her lover would go out the back door. Enjoyed your reaction.
Mug, man, when he sings "going to give you every inch of my love", it sort of gives it away.
I’ve been known to say “I’m going to quit you”.😂😂 I can’t get out of the 70’s.
Absolutely the GOAT Hard Rock band!! I suggest you listen to each album in order. Most of their tunes were built upon each other throughout the albums. During their heyday in the 70s, there was also the concept of Album Rock radio stations. They would play a whole side of an album with little talk or ads between songs. It was glorious for the listener, but less conducive to making money through ads for the stations.
Old school rock was SEXY AF.
LZ is a funky bluesy rock band, heavily rooted in blues. My personal favorite from them is bluesy as hell; check out “When the Levee Breaks”.
Led Zeppelin played a variety of music, so just when you think you "know" them, you find you don't. Jimmy did play his guitar with a bow on certain songs *however* he did *not* use it for this song (regardless what the video shows). Instead, the sounds you heard were from an instrument called a Theremin. It's a device that creates oscillating tones by moving your hand around an aerial and controlling the pitch with a knob on the console. The vocal echo you heard was a tape salvage. At the time, they only had a certain amount of tracks to use for vocals and instruments and the vocal track was so loud, it bled onto one of the instrument tracks and when they found they couldn't remove it, they soaked it in reverb and used it as an echo that precedes the vocal. The song is suggestive for sure. In blues music, a "back door man" was the guy your girl was cheating on you with - when you came in or out your front door, he was busy sneaking in or out your back door. Of course it also has other connotations.
The "Lemon Song" is a great follow up to this song. . . . .
Zeppelin uses several genres of music and sometimes in the same song, this song is considered Rock infused with blues. The drummer is John Bonham and in my opinion is the greatest drummer to have ever been, his use of modified drum speeds, which seem to change from moment to moment in songs can be daunting for anyone trying to cover him. All in all Led Zeppelin is the greatest rock band of all time.
Sometimes they even invent a genre or two. On a lark.
Not like these artists today who can only do one thing, for their whole career.
As a kid in the 70's I understood EXACTLY what he meant by "Want a whole lotta love" -it is the purified message of ROCK...
What Robert is saying is that big python bulging out of his jeans is the “whole lotta love” he’s gonna give her “way down inside”!😂😂😂
This was off of thier Led Zeppelin II record. This group has more bangers than grains of sand on a beach. If I had to pick.........GREATEST ROCK-N-ROLL BAND TO DATE......IN THE WORLD! I know that's argumentative, but how I feel. No telling what would have been had John Bonham lived longer (RIP). Such diverse music as well.
Can't go wrong with Zeppelin...
Started it all !!!
They were, are and WILL ALWAYS BE the ultimate rock band.
8.5? That’s a 10! This riff is largely regarded as the GREATEST rock guitar riff in history.
The panning, backward echo and drum miking techniques-as well as the theremin and bow-employed on this song revolutionized studio production. Over half a century later, there are producers who STILL can’t duplicate this sound.
OMG your face when he said “I want to be your back door man” lmao… priceless
I believe his unit is the whole lotta love.
My favorite LZ song & the song Robert has said he wishes to be remembered for: "Kashmir" do the studio version FIRST THEN do live at Celebration Day 2007 check out if 32 years later LZ can still kill it 😉 Jason Bonham (John's son) on drums
"Since I've Been Loving You" (Live at MSG) is 🔥🔥🔥
That was a bleed thru on the recording tape that engineer Eddie Cramer couldn't eliminate. Jimmy Page told him to leave it in...and it fits great!
They are regular drums. But Bonzo does play them bare handed. Like bongos.
Jimmy Page played using a bow many times. You really can play any stringed instrument with a bow. And John Bonham was a master drummer, which included conga. Good reaction! This song was actually banned on the radio when it first came out (at least in Seattle where I lived) for awhile for it's sexually suggestive lyrics so if you're not getting it, I think that's probably due to how explicit performers get these days.
“Every inch of my love”. How could he not know what that’s about? 😂😂😂
@@MsAppassionata Yep, that's the line that got it banned in Seattle 🤣🤣
@@juliemanarin4127 at last, someone knows it's a theremin! He only used the bow on Dazed & Confused
They cut out part of the middle on this video. And when Plant says, "I want to give you every inch of my love" I don't need fancy headphones to figure it out.
Well about the time he says I'm going to give you every inch of my love, it seems pretty descriptive to me.😂
He had that absolutely unbridled sexuality with Incredible singing that made the women love him, and then the guys loved just how hard it was, and you've got that beast of a drummer back there driving it driving it and being heavy but still funky with John Paul Jones on the bass. And of course the ladies thought that Jimmy Page was just so cute, and the guys loved his amazing Rock God guitar work.
Double entendre with back door man. Similar to AC DC in dirty deeds.
I think that 'Every inch of my love', is pretty detailed!
1:33 That's the fun stuff, using what's called automation you can basically draw a path for a knob or fader to take as you play the song, so say at 51 seconds a sound is all the way to the left and you tell the knob to spin from 0% to 100% at the 52 second mark.
When they recorded this you had to do it by hand while recording the track from the board to the tape.
7:35 the literal back door lmao, like as the husband walks out the front door he shows up at the other
Pro tools is fun. I can’t imagine the time, effort and energy they put into the mixing of this song back then.
I've always thought this song was pretty explicit in what it meant by 'a whole lotta love'. He says he's going to give 'you every inch of my love'. lol
The bass tone is incredible for that time. (by John Paul Jones) Thanks for listening to this one.
I got full body tingles as soon as it started. Iconic sound.
Great Reaction! Try "Ramble On" for another banger.
I expect everything from Led! Great tripping music!
Zeppelin is and always was my ultimate favorite band. I was a little too young to see them live but not by much.
Gotta love Zep! Now, you need to check out a guitarist who was viewed as Page's equal and is held in high esteem by Slash, Brian May and many others-the legendary Rory Gallagher. Often referred to as "the greatest guitarist you've never heard of", Rory was an unequaled bluesmaster. Check out his 1984 performance in Belfast of "I Wonder Who?" for a taste of his skills. It will blow you away!
Enjoy your reactions ❤❤ Need to check out since I been loving you from Zeppelin!! It is a banget
Favorite Led Zepp song - I remember when it came out - it was played all the time
They got this song from the blues master himself- Willie Dixon.
Alvin Lee of Ten Years After played guitar with a drum stick, not by running it across the strings, but by tapping individual strings. Watch them doing Help Me Baby live. Their bass player was a goat too.
They do some amazing blues, if you haven’t, check out Since I’ve Been Loving You Madison Square Gardens (1973). Actually everything they do is amazing, with all types of music, you certainly can’t go wrong.
Jimmy Pages true genius was in his song writing, and having been a studio guitarist and childhood friend of Jeff Beck, he was SUPREME in the studio, understanding multi-track recording in its infancy. Most great guitarists agree he was a sloppy guitar player live, but the band energy and synergy was INCREDIBLE. The lyrics are about f---ing.
I've been watching your reactions, for a while now, and I really like your honesty
Dazed and Confused is great too.
Back door man is your secret man on the side. Slip in and slip out the back door 😂
@MugnifyRTS Whoopsies, no😳😳😳 that was horrible🤯
By now, you know, side man. Sound better?😳 Lord, help me.
Do another one! You been missing some great songs by them! Off the album of Physical Graffiti you will find some jewels! They were my number one band in 1976 onward!
Well I feel like this is one of the greatest videos edited ever , I feel like I could watch every single reaction from every single person experiencing this song to react to , and I for sure feel like every time you listen to this song it's almost as if we've all been made some Awhole Lot Of Love to 🤤🤤🤤 by Jimmy Paige , Robert Plant and the Drummer at the same time ! And that's just all there is to it .
I think it's a sexy sexy sexy song 🤤
Even me, at 65 years old know that " Whewn down inside..." mean sexual love. Zepp is so great! Every song is so diferent.
Great reaction man, from Plymouth England ❤
“I wanna be your back door man” - double entendre.
Sorry, but being a teen grl in the early 70s, we all did way to much sinnin' at their concerts, lol. They just flowed with sexiness from the stage and we soaked it up and melted. Thanx for the memories, Peace
He is just telling her she needs love.
Just legendary. 11 out of 10.
Ha! Their music will be unfamiliar to you until you’ve heard their last song!
PLAYLIST! From first alby. Check out "Since I been Loving You", live from MSG.
Saw ZEPPELIN - Liked and subbed. PEACE.
Try listening to them sing Ramble On, thats a real good one.
Muggy, you woke up after back door comment.😋. It means just what you thought at first.🤔
In England back door man means when one guy goes out the front someone comes in the back door
TY
That echo was a recording mistake...when they were doing final edit Jimmy said he loved it and left it in.
No violin bow used in this track. It was a theremin, fact!
yes !! 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Progressive Rock! Intelligent Music for intelligent people!
BackdooorMan is my username on SO many platforms.🤣🤣🤣
get ON THE JOURNEY with the rest of us love.... Wild... Celebration Days will do it....
Whole lotta love. Every inch of my love. So now do you get it. DURR. not rocket science
What kind of misunderstanding can you have when it says I wanna give you Every inch of my love?
Well I AM GOING TO GIVE YOU EVERY "INCH" OF MY LOVE is self explicatory 😂😳😂
Need to check out still loving you.
checkin in...
Nothing to misunderstand. SEX period!
Awesome! Thanks ❤️ Much Love! #Hangovergang
I like seeing Guys of other ethnicies reacting to real British rock groups. Cast your Rap into oblivion man,, these lads were British men. My generation!
8.5?!…. Whole Lotta love is an 11 out of 10! LOL… Came out in 1969 and pretty much turned the rock world upside down.
Vato smoke a couple of joints to feel the Full Effect of A WHOLE LOT OF LOVE!
I saw you understood the back door man though
Every Zeppelin song is a greatest hit!! But this was not their greatest hit though! Believe it or not!!
Not congas, he's using his hands
Don't interrupt the solo!
A little bit of a psychedelic trip In the middle of the song. I believe Jimmy Page is using a bow across his guitar. David McCallum's father suggested to Jimmy to use a bow across his guitar since he was I believe a professional cellist. That's the sound. As far as the line 'I wanna be your back door man' goes, it can be taken two ways, if you know what I mean. One, kind of suggestive. The other, VERY suggestive. MUGNIFY, your facial reaction to that line, shows you know exactly what I mean.
LOL, Ummm Robert Plant had a Whole Lot of Love! I was mesmerized by him, and unusual for you? OMG he got Jimmy Page in that band bro, plus that drummer, John Bonham! Oh yea its a sexy song, lol..
this song is so hot...masterpiece .
😎LZ
Sexiest hi-hat I've ever heard in my life 🔥
when this was new music we all knew he was talking about sex. We used to call it The Orgasm Song
The virgin
You do understand ZEP. Stop over thinking. If it’s sexual that what they want!!!!!
You really don't know what he means ? 😁
Folk music? Lmao.
Mugnify, I'm 71, and yeah it's about sex. Kinda obvious don't you think?
Led Zep did great folk music but this isn’t anywhere near being folk! 😅
Zep is easy man, most of it is just re worded blues songs. They don't even change the lyrics usually. But the music just starts there and then heads in new directions.
Subtle....not exactly....
Quit pausing bro!!! You ruin it!!
great assessment.
I lost my virginity when Whole Lotta love was playing in 1971. Haha
Funny…you weren’t expecting this from Led Zeppelin? Granted, Zeppelin were one of the most diverse bands in history, covering many genres, but honestly, this song is probably one of the MOST “Zeppeliny “ songs ever! Huge hit.
💯
